soooo, Im sitting here filling out unemployment stuff (which I may or may not get) .... watching tv and working on trying to find work and paying a couple bills and reading the pioneer press (that my bestfriend payed for and is having sent to me to help me find work) ..... turns out this was Saturdays paper - still catching up ....I probably wouldnt have come across it but was reading an article about an influential St Paul woman who had passed away and the story continued in to the paper...... what did I see? Rob Brass!!! in the Sainted Tainted!
Wwwwwway cool! havnt even read it yet and it says double sainted...
I joined Facebook only because former Highschool Classmates were already in there. Otherwise I probably would've never even logged into the thing. It can get annoying - you have to disable a lot of the e-mail notices or they will drive you insane.
My Facebook page only has a couple 'friends' in it outside of my reunion class - I intend to keep it that way. I keep getting asked by relatives, etc... to become 'friends', instead I just politely redirect them to my wife's page instead.
Facebook as a social network was very helpful with getting the Class linked together, but on the whole it's annoying - too many 'friends' keep sending blanket messages to everyone on their list to 'join' stupid groups like a 'snowball fight' or 'Hitchhiker's Guide Fan Club'. Every one of those invites you click on, you lose that much more privacy. Some may love it - I don't.
I disabled getting messages from applications I don't have. I also disabled most of the email message notifications. If I wanna know, I'll log in and look.
I love Facebook as I use it as a great networking tool... and I'm careful of what is posted and who I accept as friends and I ignore/block most applications...
I have joined a couple of groups that help with my networking and so far have several connections that I normally would not have gotten.
I also use the instant chat a lot and have some "business" contacts working!
My son was giving me grief today for being log on at work - but I happen to be discussing a business contract for an upcoming meeting and when I explained that to him he was like "Oh I thought Facebook was just all for fun"..
Facebook has really been a fun time sink for me. I have enjoyed getting in touch with people from my past. I have reconnected with many people that I went to high school which has been a blast. I think that I am in the extreme small minority of people who absolutely loved high school so that is cool. I also like applications like Knighthood and Mob Wars. Chatting with friends on Facebook has also been a lot of fun. But, sometimes I can spend way too much time on there. The only thing that I don't like is how people just update their status a little too frequently. Maybe I am just bummed that I don't really have that much going on in my life to write about. Everyone should give Facebook a try, I was very skeptical too, but now I am hooked.
Also, did anyone see any of last week's Late Night With Conan O'Brien shows? My god, I have never laughed so hard!! They froze the masturbating bear in carbonite!! I am going to miss him so much. There just aren't enough shows that combine the natural beauty of nature and self-gratification these days unless you get the local Nova Scotia Cable Access Channels.
This is a double-sainted story, with a shout-out to Rob Brass, whom I came to know this year during the Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt.
While searching Jan. 28 in Swede Hollow Park, I lost my watch, a Fossil brand with an orange face. I never figured I would find it again — especially because I never have found anything while doing the treasure hunt other than a lot of true friendships from fellow hunters.
While hunting again the next day, I mentioned to Rob, who I had met the day earlier, that I had lost my watch. He asked what kind it was.
I told him it was a Fossil with an orange face, and he looked at me and said he had it in his car.
The day before, Rob was walking through the other end of the park when he passed a lady he did not know.
She said, you look like a nice young man who could use a watch. She explained that while walking along the trail, she found this man's watch, and if he wanted it, he could have it. So, Rob accepted the watch. This is almost unbelievable that my watch passed through two people, one I don't know and the other I just really came to know during the hunt this year. Thanks a lot.
methinks i should be ashamed of myself; i pictured a different word instead of kat which means the same thing but would make the alliteration go better.
I should remind everyone quick too that the Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt starts this Sunday! And that of course means a kickoff party. The plan is to meet in the bar area at Fabulous Fern's, preferably by the games, starting at 6pm. I'll give the clue out at 7pm. Registration is $10 which of course all goes towards the prize money. I'll guarantee at least a $200 prize. If you can't make it on Sunday, you still have until the release of the 4th clue. Off to work now...

<edit> ooooh nice

I am slowly starting to branch out with event planning by starting as a wedding planner.
I need to come up with a creative name, short and simple that says Event Planner (not limiting myself to just weddings)...
Any ideas?! Shoot them my way... crazy or not it will get me thinking..
Thanks!
