My parents have a sheep bander at home - we raised sheep for 4-H county fair projects. It's not as large as the pig bander, but once you see how it works, you NEVER forget.
Lack of activity on these boards! It's probably a symptom of that winter stagnation seasonal thing I'm sure.....
Plus I am sick of work. I gotta take a few days off just to unplug for a while. Can't really afford to travel much. The wife still has Hawaii as #1 on her travel list. Racking up several years worth of credit card debt in two weeks is not really my idea of a vacation. How do you appease the wife who can't think of anything other than a sandy beach?
Keep meaning to post this, but time always gets away from me...
Not sure if it was this thread or another that Kitch posted about the bakery outlet in Fridley......but THANK YOU! The place is awesome - we went up there on President's Day, I'd taken half a day off and they were open.
Looking at the size of the place, I'd expected them to have a lot more selection, but what they did have was good...and cheap! Dad went back last week, since he had an appt in NE Mpls anyway and got some more goods. Wish they were open later at least one night or Saturday though, don't know when we'll be able to get back.
Got a call last night from St. John's ER -- my mom had called 911 due to some severe abdominal pain. But by the time the doc was calling me, she didn't have the pain anymore, and didn't know why she was there.
Long story short(er), she was admitted, and they've run a bunch of tests, it seems she did have a mild heart attack at some point probably, but is stable.
When I stopped in this afternoon, she didn't know who I was . This evening though she was much more aware, but still really weak. She wants desperately to go home. I think that the recommendation will be for a transitional care place for at least a bit till she gets some strength back. She was not able to get from the bed to chair or walk unaided today.
The last time we went through all of this she went to Southview Acres, which was certainly okay...but wondering if anyone has any good, bad or otherwise input on any other facilities, preferably in St. Paul or Maplewood area.
mexico for a lot less money than hawaii... you can find timeshares all inclusive for about $1000 for a week. that includes a cook and a driver on the sea of cortez. amazing.
Wish I knew more about the facilities in your area - would be nice to have her close by. Maybe the hospital social worker or discharge planner can help you get some names of places in that area.
Vicky's aunt is in a really great facility, but it is more of a long-term care place, I think. It is a home-like setting with just a few residents, some have some memory issues. Her aunt was in an apartment in assisted living but had isolated herself so much - this place has really brought her back to socializing and she has gotten so much better and stronger there. So, if this becomes a longer-term thing, and you want info...let me know. My mother was in a similar setting after my dad died and it was a wonderful alternative to the bigger institutions.
Not sure how much Medicare will cover on this, but if they don't, for the money, could someone be hired to care for her at home?
When they ask the question about how often you floss, just say "Every 6 months, just before my appointment". They already know......you're not fooling them.
ooooh goodness :frown: I don't know any good care places either. It's so hard to trust someone else to take care of something or someone you hold so fragile and dear. I didn't know abdominal pain was related to a heart attack. I really hope she recovers quickly.
You kidding, that floss is great for all sorts of stuff. Reparied lots of things with it, and the wax coating helps it thread through leather pretty good too... needle and thread will travel...
 :crying: Emergencey surgery  :crying: And then when coming out of it learning my brother in law passed away :crying: :crying: What a day it was yesterday.
But now you have me more nervous. Shoot.
Maybe I should have worn a suit.
I'm sure you charmed them - you're amazing that way ...men or women
I think you have a cool job.
Now thats the old Jana I know...
ok.
now that's the old jana i know too
god!!
deep breath deep breath!!!
i'm pretty sure i can find you a pig bander (if you don't have an imagine just google for it) if it doesn't work out.
i've heard how they work.
too painful to actually watch how they work.
aces full of sixes joe.
just breathe
hope youre feeling better today
