2009 Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt

Submitted by KITCH on
Clue #1
Just a small stunt to start off our hunt:
A name from treasure hunt history
Guides you in St. Paul, to a park after all
And with a slingshot solves the mystery.

Clue #2
Get out and go search high and low
But keep a little elevation
The thing most key; that you can see
A landmark singular sensation.

Clue #3
When there is snow down you will go
Pushing yourself along ever faster
But the end of the drop it seems has a dead stop
Where your hunt just might end in disaster

Clue #4
A city or two will come into view
Where you see the sky turn hot vermillion.
As towers glisten, stop there and listen
The nearby treasure’s one in a billion.

Clue #5
The son of Sam in this exam
Is not a killer with a gun.
It’s but a clue to lead you to
Where no trials are ever won.

Clue #6
You don’t need to balk, just go for a walk
And be ready when the game commences
You won’t feel dismay if your field of play
Also includes going for the fences.

Clue #7
A couple of dots, a couple of lots
And with success you shall flirt.
To get the prize it would be wise
To keep off the kiddies’ dirt.

When there is snow down you will go

sounds like a sledding hill to me - just add an apostrophy after 'snow'

dead stop at the bottom of a hill - maybe a wall of some sorts or a cemetery. A highway barrier wall?

it doesn't sound like at the end of a path down a hill or anything.

a drop off?

Brassmonkey

Yes, i was thinking a drop off or some sort of cliff.

yup

I have an area in mind but just need the motivation to go look

now I wonder who chose the park?

Brassmonkey

Of course the sledding hill makes me think Battle as well as the high and low but you cannot see the "one" building from there.

Allison - I have a question for you.

In the past, you've made statements indicating the answer can be found in the first clue if one is clever enough to figure it out.

Is that true for this hunt?

Can you see the One from Conway? I'm pretty sure you can see it from as far away as Como (above the Hamms Falls). crazy. I'm going with Cherokee for now. Just that I think AW has had it there before and Jake has had it there too - so I'm hesitant to think it's there again. I thought he would go with a smaller park where you can see the one but none with down hill to a dead stop. anyone know much about Duluth and Case? Can you see downtown from there? ooooh wait. I just thought of a small park I will have to check out tomorrow. but Im probably wrong.

Well, I have one clue left before I leave out of town. I doubt i will be able to go look. :frown: I will try to log in when I can and get my mom to look for me.

well there is a stunt involved

there are too many names in treasure hunt history

so it could be a puzzle in the clue
Tue, 03/03/2009 - 8:23 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Yes, you can figure out the park from the first clue and even where in the park though it wouldn't necessarily be obvious.

Thanks Allison.

Interesting....

I think Brassmonkey is the treasure hunt mystery person so it must be out at Como where one could grab the brass ring at the carousel.

Thinking too much?!?!>? LOL!!!!

Brassmonkey

LOL, I would be flattered.

Goodnight and SCDs!

Saturday, April 18th. We really need to just get a list together of everyone that wants to do it and then make teams from that.

Actually I was coming home last night going north on HWY 61 past the lower part BC (where the cliffs and caves are) and I could see the Big 1 very prominant in the skyline. Not sure if you can see it in the actual park though. The name would be Dennison? (Father of skiing) His son set the record for the farthest jump there so it would be Dennis'es son?) Dennis menace with slingshot? The hill would be a ski hill? Push yourself on ski's and off the bottom of the ramp =drop? A ski jump is a stunt.

I'm reaching....

also a name from treasure hunt history could be any name in Jesse's book "Treasure hunt history"

If the names Gralish I would check BC and linwood.

there are parts of BC you can see the 1 from.

A big tree that forks, looking like a giant slingshot.

Line yourself up, look through and the treasure site is there

Just my thought.

There is a snowboard called a slingshot.

Clue 3 is clearly trying to lead to Cherokee...If you sled off the cliff, down you'll go, and you'll end with a "dead stop."

brasscat

Dead end Street? with the cliff?

Ramsey county comes to a dead end in the wedt end off the park????
Wed, 03/04/2009 - 9:22 AM Permalink
Redbear

Well for my noodle, I mean if you sled off the cliff, when you stop, you'll be dead. = dead stop.
Wed, 03/04/2009 - 11:24 AM Permalink

That would mean you never get to hunt again...LOLOL

That is a good noodle.

this is kind of what I was leaning twords.

he's used trees and one as clues before -something like a ONE TREE HILL or something from U2.

or when you get in the park the medallion is only a slingshots throw away.

Wasn't there a character in an old animated movie named Snowdon or something? I've Googled but can't find him. I don't do movies so don't know the name, but I do buy Christmas gifts for grands and seem to remember something like that.

Snowden was Target's holiday 'Mascot' for a few years - their answer to Santabear.

One of the first pix I found on a search was this one with a weiner dog - no foolin'.

OT

That's the guy! Told you I don't do movies. But I do do Target.

I was trying to be clever by half by trying to tie in a move with a character Snowdon, with "snow down" in the clue.

Didn't Princess Margaret marry a Lord Snowdon?

Vermilion, sometimes spelled vermillion, when found naturally occurring, is an opaque orangish red pigment, used since antiquity, originally derived from the powdered mineral cinnabar. Chemically, the pigment is mercuric sulfide, HgS, and like all mercury compounds it is toxic. Its name is derived from the French vermeil which was used to mean any red dye, and which itself comes from vermiculum, a red dye made from the insect Kermes vermilio.[1] The words for the color red in Portuguese (vermelho) and Catalan (vermell) derive from this term.

Today, vermilion is most commonly artificially produced by reacting mercury with molten sulfur. Most naturally produced vermilion comes from cinnabar mined in China, giving rise to its alternative name of China red.
