somthing irking you? pissing you off? rant about it here.
OT
Reading the posts here, it seems the calls come from a variety of sources. Someone suggested you can call the number back and press 1 to block more calls from them, but I'm kind of suspicious about pressing anything when I get one of these calls.
"I just called the number back and there was a female voice recording saying that I could block them from calling me back if I press one. It said it would take one business day for it to take effect. There was a couple seconds delay in the recording so don't hang up if you hear silence for a second."
I think I need to turn my phone ringer off at night until I see if the complaint I registered worked. Maybe I will turn it off anyway. Anyone who needs to get me in an emergency can call my cell phone.
I refuse to push buttons in those situations, OT. You never know if you are signing up for something expensive or giving your landline over to the drug people.
Ooooh! Now that I think about it, maybe I will just turn off my ringer permanently. Pretty much the only time my phone rings, it is about something annoying.
And since this is the "irritates" thread, I find myself annoyed and irritated lately when the phone rings and it is a call from someone long-winded. I used to like to talk on the phone. Now I pretty much hate it. I do it only because I think it is going to stave off loneliness. However, I am finding that most phone conversations go something like this,
"Hi, I'm calling because I'm driving between appointments and you know how much I can't stand to be alone and need to be talking to someone."
(Translation: I have nothing new to say, I just want to suck up your time and energy.I want to talk about myself incessantly for the next 30 minutes, but once you try to get a word in edgewise, I will get another call and put you on hold and not come back.)
Me: "Sorry, I can't live your day and live mine too. Turn your radio on or get a book on CD or something. Geez."
Eags - for someone who doesn't wish to be bothered by long winded conversations, you sure type a lot! :goofy:
I feel guilty of doing that with my brothers - I kinda forget they have kids at home that are a bit more than distracting. I only call them maybe once every two weeks or so, but every time I hang up I feel like what was said should've only taken about three minutes to say, not 15 or 20.
Well, I love to write. And I'm struggling with a really tough writing project (I know - I get the irony!) right now so it is easy to get distracted with fun writing.
Not sure how else to describe what my annoyance is about except that what used to work for me in my life (or what I tolerated) has changed drastically in the past 5+ years. It is just something I'm working through - or trying to come to terms with, anyway.
Cool - I will look for that. Thanks, me2! That PM you sent yesterday never did get here - or did you try to send it by e-mail? That never got here, either, if you did.
Yeah, taxes came out OK. Tiny refund which makes a little dent in what I have to pay in for my self-employment obligations in April. Nice refund coming from State, mostly due to my property tax refund!
Thanks for asking!
Hope everyone else is getting their taxes done without TOO much time and financial stress!!
Being so tired where I'm hallucinating at work and barely able to walk. And it's an entire hour until I get to bring this craziness out on the road in rush hour. Great :eyeroll:
That reminded me of this, an excerpt from my vet's journal entry after he got home from running the Iditarod:
"Speaking of trips, the hallucinations that happened I can't start to relate; it was like being back in college and about as expensive. The team broke into 2 separate strings of dogs running side by side. The dogs fannies all turned into the Muppets with Ms. Piggy being Eleanor, who was coming into heat. I was on the trail too long. Strip malls, radio shows in my head, the smell of creamed corn and my Mother's voice for the first time since she passed away last year. Sleep deprivation and exhaustion lead to some fascinating stuff. I felt like a monk out there. I found myself talking to the Guy in the sky. Again."
Laziness - yes I know that goes without saying, but now it really stinks, literally.
We got a large dumpster for our waste paper / packaging / dry goods, etc... that happens to be the closest one to the employee exit and cafeteria entrance. We only need to empty it about once a week. We bellyached about people tossing food into it after lunch when there is perfectly good trash cans in the cafeteria. Most everyone has stopped using the dumpster.
We have an employee from the other building that does cleaning of the cafeteria / bathrooms. Needless to say most of her effort at work is put into gossiping than actual cleaning. She has taken to tossing the cafeteria trash bags into OUR dumpster instead of walking the extra 50 feet to the industrial compactor in back. She'll walk BACK there to gossip with the ladies, but God forbid she haul anything...
Well, she ran out of trash bags last Thursday. What does she do? Dumps the raw trash into OUR dumpster to save the liner that is in the lunchroom. We've got four days worth of juicy leftovers in the bottom of the dumpster. Employees clocking in for the morning shift are asking where the dead mouse is by the door. Uh, there ain't no mouse - yet.
If I had a single ounce of authority that B*tch would be on the loading dock with a hose cleaning it right now.
I have a group of family and friends that put together a breakfast and heartwalk group for me for the big walk starting on Harriet Island the Saturday. I need to get back with them. !!!!!!!
No. I'm good. I'm gonna go to the breakfast they have planned and then to Ian's shindig.
They meant well but I told them they should have let me know instead of some kind of last minute tribute/surprise. They understand. All is good. That's why I said to ignore the PM Tami.
Not being included on a mailing list that notifies managers of open positions. And one that I wanted to apply for. Luckily I caught wind that it was posted last week and even though the down date was last Friday I'm still able to get my resume' in tonight.
Today is Administrative Professional's Day -not that big of a deal but.. in past we got a nice breakfast and a small spring flower for our desk - not much but it was a nice Thank You (spearheaded by HR)...
Today I busted my butt taking on 2 important board meetings AND prepping for another one tomorrow... with budget cuts we got no breakfast or flower but a simple "Hey thanks you are really appreciated around here would have worked (especially since we wont be getting pay raises or bonuses next year).. ... but NOTHING..
The other 3 Executive Assistants on my floor all got lovely Azaleas for their desks from their VPs.. mine did Nothing... but that is par for the course since he spaced my birthday too (Oh and both things are on his calendar highlighted in bright RED and he gets a pop up message 24hrs before too)
On the upside - I get a lot of "other" stuff done at work since no one seems to have clue what I do..

Sorry about your manhood
It looks spendy: bumper, light, and metal on back and side.
Good news is he left a note with name, address, phone, insurance company, agent and policy number.
The ball is rolling already to get it all taken care of.
Also posted in the "Enjoy" thread, since this was a mixed bag.
bada bing!
hopefully your taxes turned out okay.

I just wasn't sure how concrete we were set. OK
I didn't know the times of both KB's event and the heart walk. They're the fricken same!

I will firm up it up tonight.
