didn't know you can jump puzzles. thought you would have to figure out puzzle 1 before going to puzzle 2 and so on.

There isn't a prize for figuring out the 10 puzzles first.

but that may not be a bad idea for the next hunt. have a start date a month in advance and the first person (individual) to figure them out first wins something. GC to a pizza joint.

You need to solve them in order to get to the last one. I'm through the first 4 but I have the answer for number 8 so I can try working on the last one.

If your on the winning team you can jump all around!! lol

You should know that we have almost all of them done so I know I haven't put much in to it like always but Hay someone has to talk S@#t and I can do that GOOD so I guess That gives me that Title!!

so More or less if you know the answers to the next one or 5 you can go to anyone of them and start there!!

it isnt working for me and its aggravating

http://www.comoparklodge.com/stateyourentryhere.htm

I put the obvious answer (and not tinafey) in the url to test it -where it says stateyourentryhere - no spaces and no caps. ??????????????????????????? it gives error but it's the correct person

- and with an H

If you are working on puzzle #1, me2, here are the hints Allison posted previously about it:

The stars at the top of the page figure into the puzzle as well.

When I asked, "I've got the seven people, tried to plug in their states in order of statehood, then alphabetical order. I must be missing something." Allison answered:

You're getting closer. But don't forget the stars.

When BFG posted, "I need a hint..." Allison answered:

Don't ignore the stars!

He has also indicated that no answer will have more than 13 characters (should that be letters, AW?) in it, all are lowercase and if the answer is more than one word, it is typed as all one word (example: alloneword).

If I've got anything wrong here, Allison, let me know.

You might want to print out the page if you haven't done so already. I found it helpful to take a pencil to it as I tried out my answers.

I came back to it - I had all the info and figured it had to do with the stars (even the hints wern't helping)...I was doing one thing wrong in the connection. as I sat here watching Night at the Museum I made the connection and exclaimed 'ohmygoodness'.

good one allison.

I know right away what to do with puzzle 2

but it still isn't easy and I lose interest with this type quickly

Puzzle 2 was a bugger! It is like a three-step process and none of them were easy for me, although others seemed to find it more straightforward. But this is the first of these kinds of puzzles I've done, so I may be struggling some due to that.

The one with the keys - would the colors on a monitor make any difference?

I think I am seeing a lot of similarity between keys 1-2, 3-4, 5-6-7, and then 8 is different. That is not what someone else I've been e-mailing with is seeing, who sees a distince gradation of color from left to right.

AW, does the color mean anything towards finding the answer?

The keys are tough - can I get hintage? Is each key a letter (8 letter solution) or is that asking too much?

If iceman didn't complain...I doubt it mattered a ton..

Eags - the colors of the keys do not matter.

BFG, I think I'm making progress on clue 9 and what we talked about this afternoon. I Will try a little more tomorrow afternoon. Otherwise I'm out of town for the memorial day weekend. Good luck.

Some puzzles are harder than others. The last step of #2 takes a little time to work out. At this point you can work it out if you enjoy that sort of thing, or if you know what you need to do and don't want to do it, just ask someone who knows the answer. It's a bit of a race for the pride to say you were the first to finish, but after that it's really just for fun. If it's more fun to skip certain steps, I won't complain. In fact, in the end, I'm counting on the answers to eventually get leaked so that more people can "qualify" for the actual hunt.

I didn't really make it easier so much as I made it look the way I meant for it to look. I don't think it's possible to solve it unless you can see the numbers and the arrows.

Allison Wonderland

No one has emailed me yet to say they have finished it. If you can get past 9, 10 should be no problem, so I assume no one has gotten 9 yet. If you can comprehend the full extent of the hidden clue, I think the rest would be much easier.

Those are my special fonts apparently not working again. It's supposed to be a little hand pointing. I guess I'll need a graphic of it instead.

I thought about giving a free registration to the first person to finish, but I've been holding off on posting it too widely until I can get the ads posted. At that point it would be unfair to offer a prize when some people may already be done before others even get a chance to start. But don't worry. Whoever finishes first will get a chance to prove themselves on September 19th.

By the way, that day isn't quite written in stone yet if anyone really wants me to change it and the new date won't end up precluding someone else from participating. But I will need to lock it in by Friday.

Yeah, we basically took what you had then and converted the text into what you have now. It took a little ingenuity and some good intuition to realize that we needed to do that, though.

I shouldn't really say if the colors have anything to do with it or not. But if they do, the difference between monitors wouldn't matter so much because everyone's computer would still "see" it as the same color.

Allison Wonderland

Did you find the hidden clue yet?
Wed, 05/20/2009 - 9:18 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Wow, that's really impressive, but harder than I meant that to be, especially since I used two different fonts to make it look the way I wanted it.

Puzzle 5: I looked at the HTML code to find out what the fonts were being used on that puzzle -

My browser wouldn't show them properly, so I had to cut and paste it into Adobe Illustrator and do a manual font substitution. I got the arrows to replace properly, but not the numbers - apparently the Mac font version of 'Webdings 3" and the Windows version were not the same - I still had goofy symbols instead of numbers. By the time I figured it out, you had just replaced the text with an image on the web page. Doh!

-Yes, I spotted the hidden clue on the Key puzzle. Still not getting anywhere with the numbers, though.

I can't really think of any other clues that wouldn't just give it away. Just ponder the hidden clue for a while. If you brainstorm the right idea, I suspect you'll know it and everything will fall in place.

I've pondered the hidden clue, I believe, even in my dreams last night and nothing is popping up as obvious.

This key puzzle is a puzzle for sure!

I got the answer, I think, but not sure what to do with it.

Manipulating the eight numbers, I got an answer that matched one of the numbers on one of the keys.

Tried plugging it in to the URL as the number with digits, number spelled out, position in the line of keys, and a bunch of other ways most of which I can't remember anymore.

I am now officially irritated by this key puzzle. Officially puzzled too.

Any hint would be greatly appreciated.

I am heading for the sheets and hope I don't dream of numbered keys in living color.

Goodnight and SCDs!

If I might inject a bit of logic then. The puzzle shows 8 keys. Each is a slightly different color and has a different number associated with it. The puzzle asks you to pick the right key, yet gives you nothing to compare the individual keys to. Therefore one might conclude that all eight of them must collectively somehow refer to some other key that needs to be identified.

I still haven't heard back from Google about getting ads on there. Hopefully it will be soon so that we can start making some prize money. Does anyone else use Google ads and know how much money you might make?

Shouldn't matter. Once you solve the puzzle, it really doesn't take any knowledge of Minnesota to get the answer.

I'm on Puzzle #7 now - the trivia question with the font that I can't read most of. Might be awhile.

I lived in the twin cities for 47 years, although if Puzzle #9 refers to things that have changed a lot in the past 8 years, it might be tough for me.

no puzzle 8 is the one that Mite be hard!! because things have changed there in the Last 8 years!!!

It still shouldn't matter. Google is your friend. Now let's shut up before we give too much away.

Got the keys puzzle. I had the right idea for some of my noodling, but needed to find the right information to make it work.

So now I'm going to bed. This puzzle thing is seriously cutting into my sleep.

The new puzzle looks interesting, but I'm not really starting until after some sleep.
