I was hoping your 20000 Word Count sign/Joe was a precursor to the Twins final score this afternoon, CM. We were ahead 20-0 when you posted that, but Chicago got a run in the 8th inning. Too bad it wasn't a shut-out. Pretty close to an American League record. 22-0 is the record.

I use Yahoo e-mail.

Usually, when I start typing a name, the automatic thing shows me the choices, and the more letters I type, eventually it narrows the choices down to the one person I want to send e-mail to.

Lately (might have been after I cleared private data in Firefox), that automatic fill-in feature isn't happening anymore. I can't recall where the settings are to get it back working again.

Can anyone give me some directions for this?

Thanks!

Eags - I think its under Tools/Options/History and then check remember what I enter in forms and and the search bar.

I checked that and it was already checked. Thanks for the info though, one more things I can rule out.

Any other thoughts?

You didn't delete your Yahoo address book, did you?
Thu, 05/21/2009 - 10:15 PM Permalink
Eags

No, my address book is intact. When I type T for Terry, I get everyone who starts with T, but when I type the e, all the listings stop showing.

So, I have to type the T, grab my mouse and scroll down to her name and click on it.

Just not as quick as it used to be, and annoying too since I can't figure out what might have happened.

Googled it - it is a functionality issue with Yahoo Classic mail and they are working on it. Based on info I found, I switched to the "new mail" and autofill works fine there, so I'll use that for now.

Allison Wonderland

That was my next guess. Though I also use Yahoo Classic Mail and had not noticed it myself.

You might consider using a program like Mozilla Thunderbird so you're not at the mercy of Yahoo's programmers when issues like this come up.

Stumped is a good word Eags. I am out of ideas at the moment as to how to solve #8 so I'm heading for the sheets.

I grabbed my recycle bin and grabbed every piece of mail in it, looked at the envelopes - front and back, the postage stamps, the cancellations, and any and everything that was on there.

Most of them say Iron Mountain MI (where all our mail is processed) and have wavy lines on them. Or they are imprinted with an eagle symbol and the words United States of America.

Can't imagine what I could possibly be missing.
Mon, 05/25/2009 - 7:22 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

I can't be sure without seeing it myself, but I suspect you are missing something as I see it on every piece of mail I have here, and it's not something specific to a certain locale.

I'm having some people over tonight for games. Not games like Scrabble and Taboo but more complicated, takes half an hour to explain sort of games. In particular we're looking at playing Battlestar Galactica, Arkham Horror, or maybe Vampire. If anyone might be interested in that sort of thing and is free tonight, let me know. We're starting with dinner at 6 and then games.

JUST HAVE TO PASS THIS!!!!!!!

New Standard Operating Procedures released today please learn

BBQ RULES We are about to enter the BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity . When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:

Routine...

(1) The woman buys the food.

(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert .

(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.

(4) The woman remains outside the compulsory three meter exclusion zone where the exuberance of testosterone and other manly bonding activities can take place without the interference of the woman.

Here comes the important part:

(5) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.

More routine...

(6) The woman goes inside to organise the plates and cutlery.

(7) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is looking great. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he flips the meat

Important again:

(:ooh: THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.

More routine...

(9) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.

(10) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

And most important of all:

(11) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.

(12) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off", and, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women.

Warning: I received an e-mail invite from a friend, and I was supposed to click to acknowledge that I know her on "MyLife". Because I do not want to get into anything else (MySpace, Twitter, whatever) right now, I ignored it.

Then I got another one.

I wrote to my friend, she said good thing I didn't open it. She got it from her cousin, clicked to acknowledge, and now it is sending MyLife invites to her address book.

So when do you think the predig gig will be next year. Sat 1/16 0r 1/23? I think 1/16 with carnival 1/21-31. what do you guys think??

I lay odds on the 16th since the 23rd will be Grand Day Parade and other festivities... And with our new friend at Carnival office (the CEO) she is already planning on coming to the pre-dig so she may be able to "convince" the paper to keep the same timeline for the medallion hunt...

before noon on June 6th

every week they are giving away a $100 visa gc

also: find a stupid outrageous item at a garage sale - take a picture of it and enter it to the Pioneer Press. People will vote on the item online after a deadline (cant remember the deadline).

okay,

job interview question:

behavioral/situational

how would you deal with someone that you don't get along with?

anyone have any great takes on this?

I don't really have issues with people and if I did I just do my job and kept my distance from the person.
Thu, 06/04/2009 - 8:07 AM Permalink
Eags

If I were answering this question, I would emphasize that I typically get along pretty well with people. Then I would say that, if a situation arose where differing personalities or opinions caused a problem, I would be mindful to listen and speak respectfully to the person. If the conflict was related to a work project, I would look for common ground, places where compromise could work without jeopardizing the project flow or outcome. If the conflict was strictly personal, I would be friendly, as with any colleague, in meetings or social situations.

I would be careful to qualify that if I keep my distance under certain circumstances (such as the person having a toxic personality), I would take care not to let that impact my or anyone else's work and would seek advice from my superior if necessary.

how would you deal with someone that you don't get along with?

Well I try to get along with everyone, and work to understand their position and where they're coming from when conflict arises. Sometimes people just don't get along. I try to be the bigger person and remember that I don't have to like everybody, but I do have to work with everybody. If I didn't get along with someone I'd remember that, but also remember to show respect to the person and work on being as professionally efficient and team oriented as possible. If we don't have a drink after work, that's not nearly as important as getting our work done.

soooo I'm filling out an on-line application form for the Metro Council ...

here is one of the questions and how I answered it. take note that they basically asked me this same question a couple times about collecting and monitoring data on many subject matters. I just really didn't know what performance 'maesurement' data was. heh.

Was I being too sarcastic? I was hoping I would stand out from other applicants because I acknowledged the mistakes.

Do you have experience collecting, monitoring and reporting on performance maesurement data?

I'm not sure I understand the question. I have collected, monitored and reported on many things. fyi, you spelled 'measurement' incorrect on this question.

and then another mistake on question 16 -there was no place to write in an answer for 16 so this is what I put for question 17:

answer:

Journalism and Administrative.

NOTE: question 16 only allows me to choose 1 application when it says to check all that apply. For that question I have experience in Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, and Outlook.

Or you just lost the gig because you showed that you don't know what maesurement is.
