if the concert starts at 6:30 on a Friday, and you have to drive there, park, and get seated by 6 - then when I say, I will pick you up at 5:30 so we can drive down there etc - don't act surprised - the party is NOT IN YOUR BACKYARD. You cannot walk out the back door and be standing at the concert. It just doesn't work that way.
There really should be an ask Redbear thread. But I don't really know anything. Especially compared to Kitch.
Me2, remember what we talked about at the moose - companies have to post jobs, even if it's for an internal promotion. So my guess is you saw one of those, that the company posted just for the sake of saying that it was posted, but already had the person in mind.
Posting jobs can be a convoluted thing - a couple years ago my wife was essentially the only employee that could take a position at the State of MN - she'd been already doing that job for years, but was still a different 'category' of employee.
They are required to publicly post that job for 24 hours - so it was on the website from noon Tuesday to noon Wednesday - post got yanked and she had the job by Friday. I think only two other apps even got through for that listing.
So much for the days of Newspaper Want Ads....
PS. RB - don't be so hard on yourself. Google makes us all geniuses. I know I'm absolutely brillient.
Pics 2 & 3 the brand new buildings off Hwy 10 and 35W? Here's another question.. For pic 3 are those trails around the ponds and out toward 35W public or private (company ownered property)?
I guess I can kinda see government jobs but the private sector should do what we do to save on headaches. Two separate postings. Internal and external. The external jobs are only posted for the public if we can't fill from inside. What's the sense otherwise?
I actually manage all of them in the metro. Add 8 more sites to the two that I posted. Those were just the biggest sites. Not sure on the trails. I'll ask tomorrow as that's when I have my first meeting.
Irritates: It never seems to fail. I'm having a great day (see Enjoys thread) and blam! Instant stress from all angles.
Everything I've done with this huge project that I've been working on for the past two months has been totally deleted. And nobody on the IT side has replied back to me after numerous attempts.
Plus, it's payday and all the account managers are showing up only to find out that there are no checks to be handed out today. We're talking 4,000 employees who aren't getting paid today. And I'm the face of HR being that I hand out the envelopes of checks to the managers.
Yikes!
This sucks. I'm just glad I can stop in here to vent for a bit in between beatings.
My girls game last night - no, actually the girls played well, and I have loved (almost) every moment of coaching my little girls (some parental moments not so much)
by my Ex BF, happens to be the cousin of one of the girls, and lately he shows up at the games to -- well, I think to torture me -- he stands on the sidelines yelling, and being mr. competitive (they are 7 and :ooh: and then afterwards comes over and tells me all the things "he" would have done differently.
one game left on Saturday, and then our pizza party, and I am done for the season!
glad to hear they sent a mass email out to everyone on your new position! These same guys will come in to get checks in two weeks wondering if you got the ax for the mishap because you arn't there.....now they all know you won't be BEFORE this incident and you've been promoted! whew!
Thanks for checking on the trails... Look at them most days when I drive home from work (I work across from them Medtronic building) other side of 35W off Cnty J... Perhaps I will bump into you at lunch some time...
Trails... Thinking about hiding stuff over there...
You're lucky you puked up the wings - usually when Blazin' Hot Wings burn the SECOND time around, you can't exactly gargle it out with mouthwash.
The feeling of a dark cloud hanging over my head with an impending storm ready to unleash its fury.
Both personal and professional.
Strong rumors of major changes (layoffs) taking place both at Medtronic and ABM. It doesn't sound good at all. We'll find out more later today. I hate this waiting crap!!!
The media has everyone so scared we can barely even shit anymore - know what I mean?
While there are real reasons behind the economy tanking, there are aftershocks that are not real, only perceptions, based on what the media is doing with the "news".
For example, one of the major rally days on the stock market was due (according to how the media reported it) to Lowe's announcing it had a profit. Yikes! When Lowe's profit or loss becomes the prime motivator for how a day on Wall Street goes, there is something seriously wrong.
I'm not saying the media should not report bad economic news - that wouldn't be right either. But much of the time they have it so twisted and distorted! I have realized for some time that the whole economic up-and-down thing is fickle, and mostly based on the whims and moods of the spin doctors, from day to day.
One moment, one breath at a time, we'll get through this.
I'm not really a control freak in any way, just like to have control over what I think I should have some control over. Like my own life for one. And that's not happening.
I can't even control how I react to it. You'd think one should have that ability anyway. Nope. Not here. YUK!
holy shit! did eags just make an r-rated, would-be-banned-on-broadcast-television post???? wow!
that said, i gotta agree wholeheartedly with you, eags. one company's profit or loss shouldn't affect the markets the way they do. its just crazy how much speculators pay attention to those things. its not so much that they report the good news and the bad, its that they sensationalize it, and the only thing most people hear is that the sky is falling. folks with brains who are capable of critical thought call bullshit, and look up at the sky for ourselves to see if it really is falling.
although i'm beginning to think i could make a lot of money by just trusting that the sky is falling....
I have applied this week for 2 admin positions at 2 separate Medtronic locations and another with them a couple weeks ago. They are advertising they are hiring.
admittedly this doesn't apply to medtronic, but united health, being an acquirer of smaller companies, has a huge human resources problem (in the pure software industry, i've learned that if you do what uhc does, i.e., fail to integrate your acquisitions, your stock gets punished for it). they may have a dozen software developers in one group, whose project is completed, so they lay them off, paying out severance packages. at the same time, another group needs exactly the same talent they let go. its a huge problem for those conglomerates.
have to be the parlimentarian at my board meeting tonight - that's right, me be the grown up ... I can't even spell parlimentarian, much less act like one.
guess I should go tan first and by myself a slurpee for the hard work I'm going to endure.

See above for definition of control freak. I know. I try to have control over my life - but that ain't happening here either.
I can't even control how I react to it.
Now control over the reactions is getting better for me...but it's far from perfect. Practice, practice, practice baby steps.
Almost 5 million square feet! More than the Sears Tower. Biggest I've ever had. 225 was 1.4 million
wait a minute. i thought you were pregnant or something.
congrats!
people who cannot figure out time management.

Congrats on the big buildings...

I'm sure I'll either have one close to work with some people or out on the disc golf course. It's way nice out and I need to have a release somehow.
Trails... Thinking about hiding stuff over there...
At least I was in and out with distribution within an hour where it usually takes over 3 hours.
Still wanting to puke for various reasons :barf:
i'm just sayin'.
Only to find out my NEW SEAT IS right NEXT TO THE BOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :crying: :crying: :crying:
Why the hell cant I get moved A way from HIM!! Like the other END OF THE ROW!!!!

From one control freak to another -
Any semblance of control is a figment of one's imagination.
I keep trying to control my world, but change is inevitable and worrying about it also seems inevitable.
Hope things settle down for you soon.

let us know how the news goes with you cluey.
P.S. "Shit" and "Bullshit" is PG-13
but shit is one of the 7 dirty words you can't say on tv.
So far it's happening pretty bad here at Medtronic. Lots of 'box walkers" :frown:
Going to the main office now to see what's up there. They're calling it a 'project' now but we'll see what that entails.
thanks too

grrrrrrr
just not in the groups that they're shrinking in.
