Anyone have a handyman they can recommend? I need a water line tapped and line pulled to an ice maker, as well as a kitchen light and switch repaired. Thanks!
How far away is the water line from the fridge? It there one in the wall behind it? They sell kits with those in-wall boxes for fridge water lines that are pretty easy to install - that hard part is routing the water line to the box if you don't have a wet wall directly behind the fridge.
Kitchen light switches are a piece of cake. You can probably do it yourself. Just keep the wire colors identified, and make sure you have the right breaker / fuse disconnected in the main fusebox.
First off - I am married to Bob! I love him dearly but he is a golfer - NOT! a handyman :sheepish:
The kitchen light was working fine until the switch knob broke. Bob attempted to replace the switch, he has tried 3 switches, I have not had the light since. I would like a new light and switch that both work.
The water source for the icemaker comes out as a facet in the garage, approx. 5-6' to the spot were it would enter to the fridge. I think the line will need to be insulated to ensure from freezing in the winter. Or with a skilled person - they could probably run the line through the wall to the fridge. I know Bob did install a water line to an icemaker in our previous home but this one may be a little more challenging for him and we are at the age were we will just pay to have it done.
Those icemaker hose kits usually come with 15 or 25 feet of tubing - either plastic or copper. Since they are a small radius and generally always under pressure, the chances of line freeze-up are slim.
If you do want to insulate the hose as a precaution, (after the line is in place) I would probably fill the wall area around it with some of that expandable foam spray insulation - one or two cans really can fill those wall gaps pretty solid.
A good tool to get for the job is one of those hard wire "Snakes" - not the gross ones you run through the toilet to fix clogs, but similar. They are a hard ribbon of metal with a hook at the end that makes feeding and pulling wires and hoses through the wall a snap. They are a smaller green spool and generally in the electrical part of the store.
I got my big one at Wall Drug. We have a couple of small ones as well. Or just have him try some melatonin. The dreams will change from bad to good in one night. Not sure on dosages for kids though but do know it's safe since our bodies make it naturally anyway.

Remember when they had us all scared to pieces about swine flu in 1976-1977?
They rushed a vaccine to market, citing the dire need and the fear the population would be decimated.
So, most of us had the vaccine.
And the worst of the deal was, some of us who had the vaccine got "French polio" from it.
Me included, although they wouldn't diagnose it because all I got was years of lingering numbness in my back, but no paralysis.
They did concede it was a reaction, though.
That precludes me from taking the vaccine this time, which is fine by me.
To all the things that are being recommended, I would put good handwashing at the top of the list. And one really important time to wash hands is when entering the house after being out and about. Make it a habit.
I'm also studying up on the homeopathic remedies for flu and will lay in whatever I need for that.
What I fear most is what the fear of swine flu will do to our already teetering economy.
and have already begun pulling some wet brittle 2 inch by inch down from above the window- all in pieces and slivers. It smells more like mushrooms. I highly doubt my house insurance will cover mold - it hasn't covered anything that has happened to this house in 10 years. You'd think insurance is good for something more than theft or fire. :frown:
trying to figure out the "LINGO" correct wording to use when calling my insuance company... I can't call and say I have a mold preobelm, They just say they don't cover it. But there must be a wording like "ensuing loss caused by...water damage" or something - anyone know about House insurance? what do you have?
Like I said I use to do it for the largest Corp. in the Cities and have everything that they are going ot use to do the clean up and I have a friend that is willing to do the Work!!
but I guess if you wanted to go that route have fun working with your Ins. co!!
they dont cover it 90% of the time because it is a on going problem!! something that Preventative matinees should have taking care of!!
wondering if I can claim it happened in the last couple of storms and while we were out of town. Came home to it after 2 weeks or something.
I didn't say I'm using an insurance company to do the work...I can use anyone to do it. They give me a check for what they think its worth and then I pay whoever the hell I want. Even a little from Insurance is helpful towards the job. Its way better to ask than to find out they would have helped with $$ when I'm broke.
I just need to call them tomorrow and either rule that step in or out is all. Just wondering if anyone has any lingo ideas. I used the incorrect wording for the rodent squirrels in my attic when I called last time...if I would have said I need someone to come look at the roof for roof damage due to storms than I may get somewhere.
When, however, mold contamination develops as a secondary or "ensuing" problem from water damage that is covered, your insurance company may cover the additional cost to remediate the mold contamination.
Even if you kill the mold with bleach, but donÂ’t remove the mold, when it dries, you may actually make the problem worse by disturbing the dry mold and releasing spores in the air. Exposure can occur if people inhale the spores, directly handle moldy materials, or accidentally ingest them.
insurance company is having a guy call me to look at the roof and ceiling - I claimed water damage from recent storms - also have to have the car looked at for hail damage.
I have to remember to tell the guy it happened a few weeks back during hail storms and have not had the time to call them when I noticed the water - hopefully that is good enough to deal with some $ twords the damage even though I don't expect them to deal with the mold.
I fumble in my words cause I feel bad when asking for them to look even though it's their job and I pay them monthly...just like writing checks - the money is in my account but I feel bad, like I'm writing a bad check even though I'm not - thats why I don't write checks anymore- CASH or debit. I hate that stress feeling when I'm not doing anything wrong - wonder how I would do on a lie detector just because I didn't do IT but I still feel bad.
I can get to it if I go first to pepsico.com and then click on the careers tab. From there you move forward through their links until you have to register to see the job opportunities. I'm thinking that link doesn't work as you have to register/login before you get that far.
went through the regular E button and it allowed me to enter my password and go further.
I have an account with Pepsi cause I've applied before - so looks like firefox blocked my access. I thought something was up when kitch could get through - kitch, i thought you use firefox though?
Wow That's tough. Well we know it isn't J or I since we don't subscribe to that evil sin known as Facebook so..... I'll try my hand at Z-man in the bottom left? This is hard Or maybe Carolyn in the front red?
Yes! I don't recognize me in these pictures... So I am sooo glad that so many of you did  I had to do a double take on this pic the first time I saw it.

Use the same verbiage
