Regardless of how you feel about the immigration situation it's going to be a very sad day tomorrow and this entire month for the thousands of hard working immigrants servicing our community for the past many years. These are people who are supporting their families for 10, 15 and over 20 years of service in the facility maintenance industry here in Minnesota. I'm very sad about it as I've grown to know and embrace these dedicated employees who lead a life no different than yours or mine. I just wish I could do more for these special people.
of course I do CM. I don't think a lot of americans realize how much (Ag Industry especially) relies on it.
I haven't seen the news yet, but I can imagine.
We found out that if the INS comes in here, we have very specific rights for protecting our employees, and thankfully our corp.has actually put money in behind our legal team to make sure that we can help them.
I've been sitting in the virtual waiting room all day. Called the box office and was told they don't expect any tickets to be available despite what it says on the web site. I'm still waiting. I think it's a ploy to weed out the weak.
the g#dd@mn lab that our vet sent storm's blood work to. a couple of weeks ago he decided it would be a good idea to stop eating kibble and start drinking lots. last thursday he decided he was no longer interested in treats or in ground beef and rice. we took him in, blood work showed an elevated calcium level which is caused in 90% of the cases by either an overactive para-thyroid gland or lymphoma. 2 years ago he had the same elevated calcium level which ultimately went away but its back. back then the (different) vet didn't think to run the parathyroid test, prefering to run x-rays for a bone-based lymphoma (the variant which causes the hypercalcemia). no signs of tumors anywhere. now he's got the elevated calcium plus no appetite plus increased thirst, all of which are symptoms of both conditions, but with the lymphoma the specific symptoms are location-specific (obviously the no-tumor diagnosis 2 years ago was accurate; he'd no longer be with us if it was wrong). i'm no vet, but it seems to me that were it the lymphoma it would have to be so systemic that we'd have seen symptoms a long time ago, so I'm hopeful that its the parathyroid gland, and so are both of the vets at the clinic, but until the blood work comes back we won't know. they sent out the blood last thursday, for a week-long test. vet tells us tuesday that the lab told him it should be back yesterday. we called today, and the vet called the lab and it turns out they didn't even start until yesterday so now we get to wait until monday for the results.
in the meantime, we've got to force feed the guy so that if the thyroid test is positive like we're hoping, he'll be strong enough for surgery to remove it.
He's home now. His face swelled up to the point he couldn't open his left eye. That was befor they let him go home. He's been ok since, but not sure how he will proceed now. Waiting on the doctors to send info on next steps. Thanks for asking.

personal Joe
Out here, my entire industry would crumble without their work.
Sometimes I think government hasn't a clue.
I'll let the news take care of the info 3M. I just don't want to be the one who breaks it is all. Basically you're right though.
Currently there are no tickets available. Limited inventory may become available Monday afternoon or Tuesday. Please check back later

still. at. work.
really really bad allergies.
What about those really cool allergies? You know, the ones that seem to get you out of gym class and homework just when you needed them?
I really wanted some of those choice allergies to act up about an hour ago - I may have been able to make it to the Dome in time for the game...
