trying to block of vacay time for me and the boyfriend for the hunt in 2010. They just released his time block today, so we are trying to plug in some dates towards the second week of the hunt to come!
I know this is evil.. but I am finding pure enjoyment watching my co-workers get all stressed about a luncheon they are doing on Friday. :sheepish:
It's only 180 people with 2/3 being students and staff, but to listen to them you would swear the president is coming and it is the toughest event in the world to put on!
Tomorrow will be even worse... Oh and I'm on PTO tomorrow!
I happened to be in our Admin office last night, and was stopped and asked if I wanted a backpack or a blanket. Confused, I had to ask why I would get either one... had to be a catch. She wanted to let me know that she enjoyed reading the awards I submitted, since she was reviewing them, most others were getting kicked back because they were worded poorly, or had major errors on them. Mine didn't need more than a minor correction. Second time I was told I was one of the best award writers in the Company! So I got a "bug-out" bag. Pretty cool, they are like $100 in the PX.
Sorry, I don't usually like to toot my own horn, but I have put in a months worth of hours in the past 2 weeks doing awards and am super excited to know it was all appreciated!
You deserve to have your horn tooted! I'm sure the troops getting the awards will really appreciate it! I got screwed out of a couple when I was in because of a lazy Staff Sergeant. I didn't think that was fair. A sergeant that takes the time to honor his troops gains respect from all.
enjoy - my wall at work, the kids have been giving me more artwork the SAM sign is from my BF's daughter, she made it yesterday for me, and the 3 little guys under is my godson's attempt at happy bunny and friends (I heart happy bunny)
union square is right next to china town, it was a parade that was getting staged to go through china town. I think it was the moon festival or something. We had just had lunch in china town and were then headed shopping.
sometimes I wish I could take photos of all the bizarre stuff I see every day out here.
wearing my little red riding hood costume I made a few years back (yay for a rewear) had to take it in about 6 inches in the top and 4 in the skirt tho (yay for staying skinny)
drinking dirty spicy martini's and then I have got me some champagne!!! yummy! (although if I puke, the spicy part may haunt me)
Getting a little smile of hope from my BFF. Still long road to go but taken off all those pesky tubes and wires. Out of icu today. Took a regreshing shower for the first time in 5 days. Our beloved j says thanks for all the well wishes from the crew. They really mean a lot to her.
OMG Diggs! Great pic of J. I never seen that one and thought I have every single picture ever taken of her (most from me of course) Thanks for posting. She'll be back there in no time.
I can stop by and talk with the guys at Obbs if there's no objections.
Enjoy: Me2 getting out of the hospital tonight! She's still rough going and requires a home health aide and physical/occupational therapy for a bit but she's out anyway. Yea!
Also, catching up on Stargate Universe. I haven't really cared a ton for any of the Stargate franchises past the original movie. This one seems different enough that its refreshing to watch.
Another plus, I'm slowly getting my old career back I think, after a long hiatus. It might be a bit too early to tell yet, but there's hope anyway.
I'm actually looking forward to reporting in for a job Monday morning, even if it is practically monkey work and a mere 2 week contract. Sometimes it's the little things in life that are the most important.
Alas, it's late, and I think it's time to turn off this infernal machine for a while and rest. Sometimes you need to loose the grips of modern technology for a while, unplug and just relax. Goodnight all.
And it's always my pleasure to help anyone. Especially by BFF.
I really am glad to see she's making a nice recovery. Thank God!
Not a fan of hospitals even though they are necessary and I'm alive because of a couple of them. Just not a fan of staying there longer than absolutely needed
Two days into my 2 week contract job at 3M and I got a field promotion from "Materials Handler" to "Install Tech". Pretty nice deal, about a 2 dollar an hour raise. It's partially due to my abilities, and partially due to 3M and HP ramping up the full project from January to the beginning of December. I should also be almost fully employed for the next 6 months instead of just the next week.
I guess I could also partially thank the other contractor that started when I did. Apparently, unknown to me due to a lack of communication from the contract firm, he was supposed to be doing the printer installs and I was supposed to be in the staging area unpacking printers and getting old ones ready to ship out. The few days I was there though, I had already been installing printers out in the building. And tragically this other guy has been making a lot of errors and some rather large mistakes. It's never that great to look good in a position not because you do an outstanding job (not that I'm not trying to anyway, I am trying to do my best), but because a coworker does a poor job.
Today I got a nice compliment from the HP technical consultant on the project for my efforts on the job. Of course, I went on during the day to make a few stupid mistakes on some printer installs... Honestly I wasn't trying to let a small compliment go to my head. Hopefully I can recover from them tomorrow, wheew.
Anyway, hopefully some more good opportunities come out of this for me. Unless some more miraculous events happen, I don't expect any long term job offers from HP or 3M, but a nice letter of recommendation or something along those lines would be great anyway. At the very least, it gives me time to do some job hunting while I'm employed. The one thing I do know, it's nice to be back in my field. I haven't had a full fledged IT job in quite some time.
no training.
just did it.
ran like a girl.
finished the Women's Nike 1/2 marathon yesterday in ~ 3hrs 4 mins (waiting for official tracking from my microchip thingy still)

I know - Pure Evil. :lipsealed:
Now THIS guy, on the other hand...
Sorry, I don't usually like to toot my own horn, but I have put in a months worth of hours in the past 2 weeks doing awards and am super excited to know it was all appreciated!
And you are invited to toot your own horn here anytime!
And...
Thank you!
Grats Smarty
Carving pumpkins, making cheesecloth ghosts, and having a great time with my BFs kids. We spent most of the week together.
I even sewed a dog out of socks for a recycled project his daughter had with her. We had a blast.
Can you explain 'PICT0322'? (The monkeys on the bench shot)?
That is me. We were in San Francisco shopping in union square and there were these statues on the bench.
It's See no Evil, Speak no Evil, Hear no Evil and Touch no Evil.
guy i met in vegas..
The guy in Vegas ain't unusual - that happens in Minnesota ALL the time...
Which reminds me - have a GREAT Halloween. Everybody.

I love the stuff you can get. not sure if they are in the TC area yet or not.
I missed signing up for trapeaze classes!
Guaifenesin and Mucinex - if you can choke them down, these Horse pills are pretty standard to help get the junk out.

Now on to the irritates thread. Perhaps I should have saved the good news thread for last  oh well.

I feel bad I haven't made more of an effort to comfort Janna. I have to admit I'm afraid of getting the flu....
But I have been thinking of all of you.....
The Wicked One was over tonight and we talked about some NOT so cooler times we had...
You know the bad days I'm talking about....
We still realize how intertwined our lives really are....
Even though we may not be in daily contact, we always care for each other at a distance.

Fashing in Germany
A celebration starting on the 11th hour of the 11 day of the 11th month,
Fashing culminates in a country-wide celebration just days before the
start of Lent. Meant to ward off the evil spirits of Winter and start a
bountiful Spring, residents head to the streets in their favorite costume.
Maybe it means you'll find the medallion?
It's probably the work of the Spirit Guardians.

But yes, that is peculiar.
