I forgot to scan one of the items in my cart at the self checkout and I just left the store with it and figured it was the employee's fault who was doing the scanning. Maybe they should fire the guy?
I hope you got that fixed. That happened to me last winter except I could take the screwdriver to it to get it to ignite til the part was installed. reminds me of how I used to jump start my car 20 years ago after popping the hood.
having my car broken in to IN MY DRIVEWAY! sometime between 3 am last night and 8 pm tonight. :frown: he tried my neighbors car too but didn't get anything. I followed his footsteps up my street and up Ohio all the way to George but lost him! damn it! If they woulda went to a house in the neighborhood I woulda made sure he was arrested!
they stole becksies christmas present :frown:
and a bunch of change and broke a couple compartments (the cop fixed one of them).
not sure what else is missing quite yet. still trying to remember what I didn't bring in the house. I think I got everything else in the house but not sure, it was soooo late when we got home and I carried most in myself with many trips. I left hers in the car so we could exchange tomorrow :frown:
even though its change$ and maybe 1 gift I feel aweful inside.
Funny though, my daughters boyfriend was over when we realized it.
The cop that came out to the house is his Sargeant in Police Explorers so they talked a little. I felt a little better but I still had that feeling like I did it or it was my fault and they wont catch him.
turns out I luckily had Becks gift on the front porch with my books.
soooo relieved about that.
I didn't have anything cool that was visible. I carried just about everything in to the house but since it was just me doing it I didn't get everything. I got tired after 4 trips. I couldnt get the trunk open for awhile when the cop was there so luckily the badguy couldnt get in either.
I just carried a whole bunch of stuff from my car into the motel where I had to hole up for the night due to bad roads. I'm only one hour from home, but it is just too late to be navigating icy roads. Couldn't leave the valuables nor the items that shouldn't freeze in the car overnight. And considering that people gave me a lot of stuff for Christmas that shouldn't freeze, I had to bring in about half of what I had in the car. Ugh. And tomorrow, haul it all back out there, then unload it when I get home tomorrow. Oh well. I'm just way tired tonight...
I wasn't going to go home until Tuesday, but a number of factors conspired to make today look like it was time to go.
I still hope to be back for an extended stay pretty soon. Might or might not make it back for the hunt this year. Got an opportunity to do a writing project, need the money, and of course it has to be done by January 31.
I interviewed for two positions at a Mpls. company today. One is permanent, the other a six-month contract position. I am hoping for an offer for the latter. I suspect it would start by March 1, if I get it.
Just biding my time in the motel until I think they have the roads cleared between here and home. The Michigan road conditions website only gets updated twice a day, around 5AM (when the roads are likely at their worst if it has snowed) and around 5PM (when the roads are likely to be getting worse overnight) so neither update gives much helpful info.
I wish they'd get on the 511 system, as is Wisconsin. I hate Wisconsin, because it adds 3-5 hours to my trip to MN depending on which part I cross, but at least they do a little bit better job of notifying about winter road conditions.
That Fed Highway 29 thru Wis-conny is the straightest east-west hunk of new(ish) freeway in the upper midwest - other than the occasional highway patrol, it should be an autobahn-type road. People have told me the drive from Green Bay to St. Paul is at least an hour shorter because of 29.
Refrigerator breakdown at 5:15 am when i gotta be to work at 6am for 12 hours. Last week was furnace, now fridge... :barf: There goes my overtime money because I don't have time to fix it myself.
defrost not working so it gets warm. There is no timer on my model either. (that would have been too easy) It works from the mother board so I'm sure I'll have to pay for a new one and I'm bettin' there not cheap.
After a year of being at my job still getting the crap shifts. I've had to work every holiday this year major and minor and tonight is no exception...it should be an interesting night though...
What irritates me? An 18 year old daughter moving out this weekend.
Graduated high school with her Associates Degree this year. Has been given a car, works with MY employer at her schedule and whim... Offerred and refused a FREE RIDE at several colleges ...
Has her own floor at home in our house, not to mention all of my wisdom she cares to listen to....Her choice?
Play house with her boyfriend and finish her BA at the U of M.
What irritates me? I can't really say she's screwed anything up yet, but she refuses to walk the last paces of a successful path we've drawn.
did you have recovery discs from hp, or did you have to make a set?
That's one way PC manufacturers cut some costs nowadays.
Microsoft has a utility built in to windows for the end user to make 1 set of windows restore discs, which essentially lets you put the operating system back on the pc if the hard drive gets damaged. The trick is, you have to know to make a set, and while sometimes the PC maker is kind enough to A. include a recovery cd with the computer or B. include a startup routine that informs you to create a set with some CD-Rs, it also paves the way for problems. Such as the PC maker will skip the good steps and include a recovery partition on the computer's hard drive. Big mistake in my opinion. Sure, if you just screwed up windows somehow and need to get it back, a recovery partition is fine. But if the hard drive fails, then unless you made your own backup, you're screwed. Usually at that point, the PC maker will offer to send you a recovery disk, at a reasonable fee.
Ever since we moved, I've been searching for my favorite local pizza. Carbone's is the best but they don't deliver--- a pizza place that doesn't deliver? WTF? Everyone else sucks.
Thanks but we've tried them all... most fall in the "OK" category. (God I miss Angelo's) One place has great pasta, another makes pretty good hoagies, but I have yet to find the place that is the whole package. When I lived in River Falls, there was this place call Luigi's - they had kick ass pizza, hoagies, calzones, salads and nachos smothered with real cheese.
The carbone's has been here forever (since I was a kid) they haven't updated the decor since the 70's. Not sure why they don't deliver- the one in WSP didn't either.
I was at Angelo's in South St. Paul with my family after Christmas. It was very good and the service was great.
I worked at Carbone's in 1969-1970 (my first job) and I think it was about that time the owner of the Carbone's on Smith made a minor alteration to the Carbone's recipe and opened Angelo's - the name was chosen because it would be the first pizza listing in the yellow pages.
Pizza Factory was (is?) also a slightly altered Carbone's recipe.
I haven't found pizza here in Marquette to compare with Carbone's or any of it's knock-offs. Good pizza, for sure, but have been eating Carbone's pizza since I was five years old and that is what I think of as pizza.
Next thing they will have the customers stocking the shelves.
I'd like to think that trick would work on Car Tires, too... but I haven't tried it - yet.
good one.

Sucks to hear sorry!!
that has been happening alot over her in the boonies!!

I thought you wernt going back til tomorrow (tue).

good thing you know about mechanical/electrical stuff.
I'm pretty impressed. I can't fix anything electrical, mechanical, wires or metal.
I've got room in my freezer if you need a place to keep your steaks

Thanks for letting me rant...
Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the water again...
hang on ... she'll figure it out. She just trying to find her OWN path.
would you like to adopt me?
told my recovery discs are corupt and need to call HP to get a new set.......great...5 more days at least.
:frown: ... hopefully January 2nd will be much better and you can make that your start to the new decade instead.

but for some reason it didn't work...
anyways.....they are sending me a free set because i had made a set...if i didn't say that they would have charged me for them.
In what area do you live? Maybe we can help suggest good pizza in your area, with delivery.

They have a jukebox. I like the old plastic pitchers and quaint booths.
I also grew up with them since I was little. It was my grandmas favorite.
