check ebay for keyboards. you can usually buy them separately although i haven't looked for hp keyboards. then everyone chips in and takes the key they need.
Sounds like your file associations are screwed up for pictures. Should be .jpg and it's saving as a .png
Make sure when you save it that the save box on the bottom (where it says "save as type" says to save as a .jpg. You may have it set to .png
This box is underneath the space that has the file name.
The .PNG file extension identifies Portable Networks Graphics files. This is a raster image file format that stores image data in a lossless compressed format and which is supported by most web browsers.. Incorrect associations are the cause of many file extension errors.
A file association associates a file with an application
capable of opening that file. Sometimes we will need to edit Windows file association because maybe we want to use another program to open a file. There are times we need to manually fix a bad file association after uninstalling the software. Editing file associations in Windows XP is pretty easy. Just go to Control Panel > Folder Options and click on the File Types tab. As for Vista, it doesn’t have the File Types tab anymore and you’ll have to go to Control Panel > Programs and click Make a file type always open in a specific program.
Have to love it when you're doing a computer clean up and at the bottom of the scan it says, "fixing problems.sol". Makes me feel really secure.
unfortunately, it doesn't give me an option to save it as jpg. only the png or even a gif. Has anyone else besides ClueMaster tried this on Flickr? The same thing happens to him on his computer. EVERY picture is named 'spaceball' when trying to save them. I change the name but it always saves as a dot.
I loaded Snag It - that works. But in general I think Flickr and EBAY found a way to keep people from 'borrowing' photos.
Thanks Mikey, I'm picturing you all scholarly with glasses while reading your post.
I couldn't only save the pix of certain posters. I assume they make it copyright protected. I have all of my photos open reign. Try some of mine and see if you're still having problems.
The pics I'm having trouble with are not candids... but real good professional style items. I may just purchase the snatch it program unless someone knows how I can get it at no charge. I cant afford it right now.
Yeah their copyright protected. You can always screen capture them and put them in PS now that you have it loaded on your puter. Remind me to get you a serial #
Have you tried saving one of mine? Maybe the ones your saving are restricted. Thats an option on flikr. I share all mine so try one of mine there and see if it works.
Lots of weird posts in here. Yes the flickr thing is due to copyrights. I'm not sure what the problem might be with IE bogging your system down. If you're visiting a lot of websites that are Flash intensive it might cause some of that. Antivirus might be the more probable source of the issue though.
As for the laptop keyboards issues, we just had a laptop at church that had the tab key pop off. Apparently these keyboards aren't all that great quality wise. Sometimes if you mess around with the key that popped off, you can get it to reseat properly and be usable again. It takes time and patience though, and hopefully the little tabs didn't bust off, since they're cheap plastic. Too bad you couldn't modify a Model M IBm keyboard to fit in a laptop
When i go to the tc.com site for the video clues- the box is not opening for me to watch, there is just a tiny white box with a dot in the middle. I don't have any other issues with other videos - FB, YouTube, Realplayer etc
What do I have to update to see this? And are links to get it free?
It's more than likely a Java Script or Flash Player upgrade that is needed - I'm on a Mac and can't recall exactly where you go in the computer to update that - I think it's in the Control Panels somewhere...
Crappy video on PP's site. The problem is they insist on using a video system that doesn't cache information on your local computer. Obviously they do that so it's nearly impossible to copy it. Why they're so worried about that I'll never know.
The problem with that setup is simple. If you don't have a significantly fast internet connection, the video will be choppy, if it plays at all.
Best and only way I can think of capturing these videos is to try using a camcorder or another video camera device and point it at your monitor.
Unfortunately, I have had very little success in the last year or two trying to copy video off of any news media site. Most of the software out there designed to copy this stuff claims to record 99% of any video off a webpage. But even after a dozen or so trial versions of software, everything I've tried to copy is in their 1% margin of error.
If you have any decent luck with that, let me know. Or if you wouldn't mind sharing, I'd love a copy myself. I don't have a decent video recording device.
one of the things on my to-do list is to try and track down this stuff with a protocol analyzer. of course it may also be streaming video, in which case we're screwed for getting it.
Has Something Wrong With my Computer!! big time keep getting a System warning and cant get rid of it got up one day after living the computer on all night and had some Internet Security 2010 on and cant get rid of it and then have a big YOUR SYSTEM IS INFECTED IN THE BACKGROUND says
system has been stopped due to a Serious malfunction Spyware activity has been Detected.
it is recommeded to use spyware removal tool to prevent data loss
Do not use the Computer before all Spyware removed.
Steven had that on Pennys machine. Use Malware Bytes to get rid of it. Norton and others did not work. Only malware bytes worked on that virus. http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Ok all you Mac lovers how do I open links in a new window? I know to open a new browser window I go to file and New window but how do I get links to open in new windows?
You use a pc mouse with more than one button. Then you can right click on the link it's what I do. Seriously though it's either the apple, option, or command key that you hold when you click on the link.
If you don't have a two-button mouse on a Mac, it's Control Key-Click to get the 'normal' Right-Click pop-up functions. I'd seriously get a two button (or more) mouse - those single-clickers look pretty, but are really outdated.
having tried out a mac laptop at the apple store, i can't get over the fact that the touch pad has exactly 0 buttons outside the pad and that the click is a push down on the pad. makes dragging a pain in the butt. i couldn't live with 1 button on a pointing device, let alone no buttons. i seriously considered a macbook for my next laptop until i tried one.
so do i. they're cheaper and faster. but the mac os support for the chipsets isn't nearly as solid as for the intel chipsets. i know. i've installed os x on both. first was an amd, which required the blood of a sacrificial goat, shed using a silver handled knife, and a ceremony involving black candles in order to get to update from 10.5.6 to 10.5.8. second was the intel chip, which went from 10.5.6 to 10.5.8 using just the apple update software. so, for creating a hackintosh, intel wins. but amd wins for everything else.
people need buttons dang it anyway!
there has to be a button bootlegger out there....
anyone?
bummer
or little o for that matter
I will take a peek
problem --- I needed a silver key - I'd take a white though.
