13th Annual Rehash Bash and Other End of the Winter Carnival Festivities

The 13th Annual Rehash Bash will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at Newell Park, from 11:30am to 2:30pm. As always, its a potluck, and since we\'ve got the building, there will be plenty of power indoors for crock pots. Donations will be accepted to cover the $136 cost for renting the facility. MrMnMikey has some door prizes available. Since this isn\'t Super Bowl Sunday this year, if people want to stick around past the 2:30 closing time, we can start a fire in one of the fire rings.
In addition, many of us long-time Coolerheads are loyal servants of Vulcanus Rex. Join us for the Vulcan Victory Torchlight Parade, followed by the Vulcan Victory Dance. Information on the Parade Route is from the 2006 Vulcan Krewe. The best places for viewing the parade are going to be at the end of the parade route, as His Majesty, Vulcanus Rex LXXIII, the true King of the Winter Carnival, overthrows that other guy on the steps of the St. Paul Central Library, across from Rice Park

Makes me think of Red Rock Road, I guess a lot of people used to drag race down there until they added curves and speed bumps.

Could be alluding to Cemstone down by Midway and the Saint's Games - maybe a street route we're supposed to follow to the goal?

No mansions or acreage here. Instead, the well-kept houses surrounding the park are small and tightly spaced. Many residents take pride in their front yard gardens, and some have extraordinary floral displays.
Older folks live next door to young families, with working couples scattered throughout. Proximity to both downtowns - 10 minutes either way to the Nicollet Mall or 4th and Wabasha - make it an ideal location for commuters.
Former City Council Member Kiki Sonnen found her house across from the park in 1984, when she was looking for the Winter Carnival medallion in Newell Park. It was also found there in 2000.
"It's peaceful and out of the way," she said while tending the irises in her garden. "People aren't too persnickety like some other neighborhoods I probably shouldn't mention."

Hovering every day, all day, over the neighborhood, is the large-scale train and truck transfer station north of Pierce Butler. It's where those giant cargo containers are taken off trains and hoisted onto semi-trailer trucks, which then set out on their journeys directly in front of the park
Its too bad really, that you can't decipher clues and make it to the correct park in the first week with enough time to make the find before the 12th clue comes out and you're surrounded by a billion other people that just came out that evening because the clues had spelled out the area.
There's really no advantage to knowing a park given the recent hiding style. Granted there have been a few quick hunts due to some bizarre events and a lot of luck. Even with that, how many times have a ton of people massed at the correct park near the end of the hunt? And in all those times, can you imagine if you'd had the right park from the start that you could have discovered the correct spot in the park to search?
Yeah yeah, I know, all doom and gloom. I'm just waiting for the eerie clue writer video to get posted to I can watch it and have some weird nightmares.
