I'm amazed that as a group I can state: "our student worker will be gone for two weeks in June, we have a short week in May due to the holiday and a major event next week that will tie up our time so any big projects coming I need to be made aware of now in order to make sure they get done. Are there any?"
Then have 6 people all look at me and shake their head no...
So I adjust the priorities and set my student up with her work load and tasks so she can also work her other job and have time for homework.
One week later - I have 3 big projects (that apparently have been on the radar for the past few months) that all want done by the end of June. And now are mad because I said that the student worker wont have time to work on all of them, so they will have to do the work themselves...
Slow computer access. The connection is fine, the computer is a dinosaur.
People who make me feel like I am pulling teeth when I am just trying to get some basic communication accomplished.
People who make me feel like I am a huge bother when I ask for help with something simple. Their reply, "I suppose" or "I suppose so".
People who ask me to help with something, then get other appropriate parties involved, then drop the ball at letting me know when and where I am supposed to plug into the situation. And when I call to ask, they say they don't want to be in the middle.
Slow computers.
People who return calls with the air of a martyr and act like they are being put-upon because they had to rush to call me at a clearly inconvenient time (when I made it clear in my voice mail message that it was nothing important and that talking later in the week, or whenever, would be just fine).
People who tell me that people who would do the above are not worth having in my life, as I've tried excluding the people who do that, and I ended up being a hermit for awhile.
Actually, I'm pretty calm, compared to how most people act when this kind of stuff happens (to them). And yeah, things will get better - next Monday when I go home.
My cousin's Real Estate agent told me this one tonight -
Chopped Onions sitting in the fridge get more and more 'potent' the longer they sit, so long term storage in a cheap plastic tub is NOT a good idea, HOWEVER, Sauteed onions that are refrigerated tend to taste 'sweeter' with time.
And, yes, as phony as it sounds, that really WAS my cousin's real estate agent who indeed said that. Tonight.
It's what happens AFTER beer pong that makes we want to stay away...
I'm crashing at my Aunt & Uncles basement in Hudson for now - it's not a bad place to be, but I have to commute for EVERYTHING because my 'home' and work are both 20 minutes away now.
irritates: having to find new hardware for our bifold door in our pantry because the lousy crap that's been in there doesn't work for crap holding the door in anymore.
I think all they need to do to curb teen pregnancys is just show one morning of trying to get the kids out of the house going to school in any random household. heh :pbpt:
my mom used to wake me up early on saturdays, when she would accidentlly set her alarm.... we'd be rushing to get ready for morning stuff.... and on a couple of occasions, I'd go to the bus-stop and wait for a real long time.....
not cool...
but on a happier note.... It'll be fun to trick our kid when he/she gets old enough to do that kinda stuff...
Finding out the soon-to-be ex-wife withdrew some huge amounts of money the day before the divorce papers were drawn up. Our home equity line of credit is now so freakin' high there is no way we can sell the townhome WITHOUT a short sale and destroy our credit in the process. I closed or cleaned out any accounts with both our names on it and locked the rest of the home equity at Zero so she can't dig a deeper hole. She had the nerve to complain about me trying to get my inheritance money out of an account the weekend after the papers were filed. This has my asshole brother-in-law's fingerprints all over it. There's $5K floating out there somewhere being laundered on her behalf.
at this point, md, its time to call an attorney, much as it sucks. get a good enough one and you might even be able to stick her with the house, because the bank ought to be able to track down her withdrawl and tie it to her, thus making her look rather bad.
After some pondering, I decided to take $3K out from the house myself before I locked it down - since I have no freakin' clue what else they have planned. I told the banker I realized this is going to hurt the bank in the short sale - he said "You're right, but technically there's nothing I can do about it at this time." At least HE was sympathetic - Apparently rumor has it the bank becomes a real hardass when it comes to recovering assets in short sales. Not good.
on the other hand, i know some people who know some people who know some other people. not saying i'd contact those people if i were in your shoes, i'm just sayin'
reading the following after buying 2 tickets to see the offspring at the taste of minnesota....
In a shift from previous years, Taste will only feature fireworks on July 4th with a memorial tribute to former Taste organizer Ron Maddox.
Tickets will be available for $20 in advance. Day-of show tickets will be $20 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., and $30 from 4 p.m. until the festival closes at 11 p.m. Kids 12 and under will get in free with a paid adult. Veterans and seniors 65+ get in free. VIP tickets are available for $100 and include a VIP Pavilion and complimentary food and beverages. Tickets will be available at www.tasteofmn.com beginning May 7, 2010.
Guess I get in free because I'm a veteran. Must have to show a copy of my discharge?
I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I would bet Ron Maddox would be spinning in his grave if he knew what the Taste has become.
The Taste was something we always looked forward to because it was FREE. Maybe they didn't have a lot of headliner bands, but it wasn't originally a *music* festival! The musical entertainment was kind of incidental - it was all about the FOOD, and local establishments....you could set your own budget.
There's no way I could or would spend that much $$ to bring my family of 5 (even with the youngest getting in free)....
Don't get through this way too much anymore, and hardly ever take the time to post anything, but I'd heard about them charging for the Taste earlier this Spring, and now reading this...on top of the (IMHO astronomical entrance fee) to only have fireworks on Sunday night, when most people will need to get up in the morning the following day...just really disappointed.
I just assume that the public will drive any changes that don't work. Which seems like this may be the year fro failure even if I am a music buff. It's not called the Minnesota Jam. It's called the 'Taste' of Minnesota. Change the name if that's where they're heading.
In the event management world... everyone is predicting the Taste ceasing to exist... too much competition from local city festivals and the planning people coming on board don't have a clue about anything
Then have 6 people all look at me and shake their head no...

Get a clue people!
gotta find humor in that

I AM FINE. I am just venting.
always remember that while it takes 43 muscles to frown, it only takes 17 to smile.
also, it only takes 4 to extend your arm and bitch-slap a mother sucker upside the head.
have a nice day
1. Go to the store, buy a pack of birthday candles.
2. Come over about 8 tonight after I get back from raquetball at the gym.
I'll rub the candles on my ass. That'll get that beefy smell in there.
Total charge: $8/candle.
When did I turn into ares? :lipsealed:
unless they've gone in the blender and someone pushed the smoothie button. (apologies to the guy from the "will it blend?" commercials).
