somthing irking you? pissing you off? rant about it here.

Granted, even w/o markings a driver has no right to plow under peds that have started to cross an intersection. But these folks were on the SIDEWALK, there was no crossing designation of any kind, and the idiot STOPS DEAD.
As a driver and a pedestrian, I know the issues surrounding both sides.. Sadly, far too many drivers don't stop for pedestrians, even if they do have the right of way. Equally as sad, too many pedestrians try crossing a street right in front of a moving vehicle.
When I'm walking, regardless of a crosswalk or not, I let the vehicle have the right of way, simply because of the laws of physics. Unless of course the driver is kind enough to stop and allow me to cross.
When I'm driving, I'll stop for a pedestrian if they need to cross, granted a few situations are met. One, I'm not endangering other vehicles by stopping. Two, if the pedestrian should have the right of way, and isn't blatantly disregarding traffic laws and just walking wherever they please.
Mostly it's just common sense things. Sadly, there are a lot of people that lack that these days.
actually an undesignated crosswalk exists where the sidewalk would naturally extend from one side of the street to the other without markings. you gotta stop for pedestrians in those too. but like you said, they were on the sidewalk so it was fair game to go through the intersection
I have seen, and myself been on, the other end of the spectrum where peds march out, neither looking left or right, as though it's their god given right to walk across the street no matter what's coming.
Then my sympathies are with the drivers.
Idiots, on foot or driving, infuriate me. Kogren put it well.
Don't get me started about the jaywalkers. I had fun with a woman, crossing 7th, reading and eating, just jaywalking along. She started across the yellow line into my lane and I had nowhere to go. Couldn't cross into oncoming traffic, couldn't move right as there were other cars. She lived with nose and toes intact. But just barely.
"To recap those revisions: women are still worth 10 points more than men in all age brackets, but teenagers now rack up 40 points, and toddlers under 12 now rate a big 70 points. The big score: anyone, any sex, over 75 years old has been upped to 100 points."
Not hearing anything for a week about a project I did. WTF. Three different people couldn't drop an e-mail saying "We're going to go with the other one?"
That's not right.. more that no one thinks the way you do. I guess it's hard to explain, or more obviously, improbable for me to communicate, since that's part of the issue. Some days I just feel that way. Most days come to think of it.
It's not exactly even an irritant, but no idea where else to post it. I'd rather post here than on facebook, or other such places. People would bring up far too many questions and or solutions there. And everyone thinks they have an answer. Either to make you feel proud of being unique, or to change yourself to fit in better. Some subconsciously, some more direct. Everything has to have a label of some sort. :eyeroll:
I've had that feeling often. It has made me feel very lonely, acutely lonely at times. It also tends to create (in me) a feeling of sapped energy. The person who understood me the best was my husband - we were like two peas in a pod. Made the term soulmate take on living, breathing meaning for me.
I've run across a few other kindred spirits along the way, and I've found my energy meditation and energy healing work has helped me a great deal in not feeling like a freak among the masses, but there were times early on when I also felt that my interest in energy healing set me apart even more from others, as it is a field we all experience (intuitively) but most of us have been taught to suppress.
I'm guessing that suppression and conformity makes this (feeling that no one thinks as I do) a more common experience than I'd previously thought, although there are people who don't think deeply enough to ever concern themselves about it.
Well Eags when you move back here I will set you up with a Great Network of Healers here in the City's so you can keep up with you Energy work I know how much it helps so if you in town and need some work done let me know! I got a ton of people that work in the field!!
People who insist they know everything, but for sake of appearances openly proclaim they don't, and moreso they despise people who think they know everything.
I think Irritates is a gentle word for what I feel but the fact thatjust about EVERY hiway entrance ramp in and out of the woodbury area being close due to construction is up there on my list of if I ever figure out who the hell planned this they better run....It's hard enough learning a new town but to have to search for a way to get out without driving 30 minutes out of my way would be freaking nice!! Ok doing some deep breathing now.......
CM, I'm glad you are doing better and can be home. I had gall bladder surgery a few years ago that is done in the same way they deal with appendectomies now. The discomfort will be much better in a few days.
I hope things feel better OT. The pain has moved from the inside to the outside anyway. It's more of a topical pain now as it feels like all the holes are going to rip open if I eat too much or even have a little yawn or sneeze. Very sensitive and painful right now but it does feel like it's on the mend vs before where I couldn't even see the light whatsoever. Glad it's short lived. What a weird procedure huh? I didn't know they did that for gallstones either. is that what they did with you Timmers?
Being admitted to United Hospital for internal bleeding stemming from my damn appendectomy. This pain sucks! They're trying to treat the pain while monitoring my hemoglobin. If it drops any more they're talking transfusion. Fun effing fun time here!
Clue Master, I won't give all the details (unless you want them) but if you have ANY signs of infection along with all this, please ask for an infectious disease consult. This is sounding so much like what happened to my friend who had her appendix out in early June, and a week later ended up in the hospital for 12 days - a hospital stay that would have been much shorter if they had gotten the whole picture sooner. Lots of love and prayers going out to you tonight!
Cluey man you need to catch a break!! Hope they can give you something for the pain, you should be feeling better by now. :frown: Let us know whats going on
I dont care WHO opens it!! for all I care you could open it lol!!
I just want that place open!! I know they were and are all Crooks! I worked there training the security crew with a bunch of guys that use to train security crews!!!
Jase, thats just his way of taking me on expensive dates overnight.
looks like we are in for the weekend at United. So far he is stable, blood looks to have clotted and now addressing the pain and allowing the blood to absorb back in to the body. He is on a pain drip. Such a nice day too to be stuck inside :frown: but he WILL be better! Thanks for all your well wishes, we just need to keep positive vibes. Unfortunately we won't make it o the Red Bull event that we really wanted to see AND no trip up to Marleys and can't make it to Melissa and Steves - SORRY to all we were gonna see this weekend :frown:
AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!

Such close mindedness... sad.
for the bart shooting trial verdict.
It doesn't matter which way it goes, I'm pretty sure Oakland, SF, and parts of LA will burn - riots of anger or celebration.
My BF was off, and got called in a couple hours ago, to support.
icky.
