I read in the paper today that they are launched from a runway 60 feet above the river and at one recent event the record was 54 feet. Huh? What happened to the other 6 feet?

I think that was 54 feet on how far the contraption actully flew before taking a dive!

Also, if you go to Seattle, and enjoy the outdoors, I'd highly recommend going to Deception Pass. It's a beautiful park, and well worth a visit. A hike up Goose Rock (it's a small mountain) will give you a view of Canada on a good day. The whole area is way cool for photography.

Seattle: Chandler's Crabhouse (on Lake Union, Seattle) with lake-view dining room, covered patio and open patio dining.

Their crab-artichoke dip morphed into Eags' Goddess Dip, which I used to bring to re-hash bashes.

Pike Place Market is not to be missed. Also, catch a Mariners' game if you have the chance. Not sure when you're going, but the Twins are in Seattle Aug. 27-29. If you have the time, take the car ferry across the sound and visit Olympic National Park. The Hoh Rainforest is really cool.

I'll second that about Pike Place Market and about the Olympic peninsula/rainforest! If you have time to do a night or two at Lake Crescent Lodge and see the rainforest, it is just unbelievably beautiful there.

And of course if you're at Pike Place Market, drop by the first Starbucks for a coffee.. if you like coffee anyway.

Pike's Place Market (not to be confused with Pikes Place, the street) is down by the waterfront. You could park there, and walk all over the place. It is like 4 blocks long. The architecture is really cool in Seattle, with oddly shaped streets making oddly shaped buildings (take the underground tour)...

Starbucks is easy to find. I dare you to find a street without one within 3 blocks.

I've never been to Vancouver, although I was tempted to head there while Stacy came to visit me in Seattle, before I went to Iraq.... :sheepish:

Been a long time since I was in vancouver... It's pretty down by the river and ocean. I wanted to get over to Victoria but did not make it, perhaps a trip over there would be fun ride the ferry over and check out the island.

Seattle is the best place ever. I love that city. You MUST do the underground tour as a few others have mentioned. Also if you have time, take a ferry over to Bainbridge Island...lovely little cafes and shopping, it's like a different little world over there.

Say; for those not on Facebook (and those that ignore it...)

The St. Paul Saints are having the 'Game of the Living Dead' 7 pm on Friday - Bundle tickets for Left field reserved get a Soda, Hot Dog, Darryl Strawberry Bobblehead and other stuff. If you Zombie walk to 5 or more beer vendors you get drink coupons. They're playing Sioux Falls.

I organized a tour of Target Field yesterday for a singles club I'm in. It was pretty cool because you get to go a lot of places you would never get to go during a game like the dugout, the clubhouse, and the exclusive lounges for season ticket holders. After the tour we headed to the bar and the Winter Carnival Treasure Hunt came up. One of the women there said, "Oh yeah, my Dad actually found it one year." I asked her which year and she said 1969, by 35E and Victoria. To which I replied, "Your dad was Winnegebo Bill?" And she said, "Yes, but it wasn't a Winnebego!" The other people there couldn't understand how I knew so much about her dad when I had never met her before.

None for Vancouver.. sadly I didn't go there.

One thing I would do if I were you, I would visit Groundspeak's Headquarters (the guys that run the geocaching.com website), but that's just me

I know on my trips out there I checked out quite a few things downtown. I believe there is a russian submarine you can tour that is docked downtown, as well as a fairly nice aquarium.

http://www.russiancobra.com/

http://www.seattleaquarium.org/

Oh.. and I believe I also went to a aeronautics museum. they had a ton of aircraft you could look through. Yeah here it is.

http://www.museumofflight.org/

When I was there they had an old Air Force One (I think it was JFK era) and a Concorde that you could walk through. I thought it was fun anyway. I also took a tour of Boeing's 747 assembly plant (if you like big buildings, that one should be right up your ally), which I believe wasn't anywhere near the museum of flight.. but related anyway.

We went to the Seattle aquarium, and I agree, it is a great attraction. Easy to include it while exploring downtown.

Sally & I settled the divorce in front of a judge today w/o a court fight. I conceded a little money that would've easily been lost in legal fees in a court battle. Couple weeks for paperwork to catch up and I'm a free man.

Wow, that happened fast. Breaking up can be hard to do, but there can also be a bright side to it. No relationship is perfect. Think of all the things that used to annoy you or things you couldn't do because of her. Now those things are all left in the past. When it comes to the future, anything is possible.

I had this saying from early in college - I can't remember if I invented it myself, or if it was quoted from somewhere. Something a single guy would say...

What we want:

Three Drinks, Three Times, Three solid hours of sleep

What we get:

Three Bills, Three Lies, Three hours TO sleep
