Oh oh! The Metrodome roof has collapsed! There's snow on the field.

Here's an answer to your question about any other postponements from the article below.

The Metrodome roof has failed three times before. It deflated in 1981, 1982 and 1983, each time due to tears caused by heavy snow. The April 14, 1983, collapse forced the postponement of the TwinsÂ’ game with California, which had been the only postponement. A slight tear also delayed a Twins game briefly in 1986.

That footage of the actual collapse was crazy! Like a movie.

Maybe Spielberg can use the footage in a future flick...

I think we're gonna hit BW3 instead of going to this one ourselves.

The tickets were to be a birthday present for Sarah but she doesn't want to hang out in the cold (not to mention me2 either) Some hunters they are. :frown:

It should be an interesting game to watch (and I'm not even all that into sports) just for the fact of the snow we're getting.

I would go to the actual game, the cold and snow in the stadium wouldn't bother me, but the driving and parking would.

I don't know if it's just that I don't notice it as much in the summer, but a lot of people drive like idiots in this weather. And I tire quickly of trying to avoid an accident just because someone else isn't paying attention, or acts like they're the only ones on the road.

Hey now. I act like I'm the only one on the road if only because I leave about 10x the space between me and the guy in front of me than I normally would.

Abby and Tony are at the game and Abby just called and they didn't have to park very far away and there are a lot of empty seats. She said it didn't feel that cold....yet. Wish I was there!

I am going to enjoy watching from the warmth and comfort of my couch with the dog laying next to me. Been along time since there has been a game in the weather. Should be fun to watch.

I don't even care who wins or loses.

And now Brett Favre is starting.

If someone had predicted all this for this season, everyone would have that that person loco. Truth is stranger than fiction.

All this has at least added some excitement to an otherwise lackluster season.

why they don't just implode the metrodome and use tcf for football until a new moa field is built is beyond me.

especially since they're already shooting holes in the dome roof

I was wondering the same thing earlier, ares. And then I remembered that about about 13,000 Vikings season ticket holders wouldn't have seats.

true, but they've got to play somewhere if the dome ends up being the ultimate replacement site. da bears used uiuc while soldier field was re built, so why not da vikes.

"I never thought in a million years that that decision was going to cost me my career."

- I still struggle to this day with the idea that McDonald's is a 'Career' choice - as far as I know 95% of employees at fast food joints work there because they didn't (or couldn't) get a job anywhere else. Good economy or bad, no one really LIKES to work fast food, right?

Looks like Wisconsin isn't having the only issues with collective bargaining

Dear NFL Fan,

When I wrote to you last on behalf of the NFL, we promised you that we would work tirelessly to find a collectively bargained solution to our differences with the players' union. Subsequent to that letter to you, we agreed that the fastest way to a fair agreement was for everyone to work together through a mediation process. For the last three weeks I have personally attended every session of mediation, which is a process our clubs sincerely believe in.

Unfortunately, I have to tell you that earlier today the players' union walked away from mediation and collective bargaining and has initiated litigation against the clubs. In an effort to get a fair agreement now, our clubs offered a deal today that was, among other things, designed to have no adverse financial impact on veteran players in the early years, and would have met the playersÂ’ financial demands in the latter years of the agreement.

The proposal we made included an offer to narrow the player compensation gap that existed in the negotiations by splitting the difference; guarantee a reallocation of savings from first-round rookies to veterans and retirees without negatively affecting compensation for rounds 2-7; no compensation reduction for veterans; implement new year-round health and safety rules; retain the current 16-4 season format for at least two years with any subsequent changes subject to the approval of the league and union; and establish a new legacy fund for retired players ($82 million contributed by the owners over the next two years).

It was a deal that offered compromise, and would have ensured the well-being of our players and guaranteed the long-term future for the fans of the great game we all love so much. It was a deal where everyone would prosper.

We remain committed to collective bargaining and the federal mediation process until an agreement is reached, and call on the union to return to negotiations immediately. NFL players, clubs, and fans want an agreement. The only place it can be reached is at the bargaining table.

While we are disappointed with the union's actions, we remain steadfastly committed to reaching an agreement that serves the best interest of NFL players, clubs and fans, and thank you for your continued support of our League. First and foremost it is your passion for the game that drives us all, and we will not lose sight of this as we continue to work for a deal that works for everyone.

Yours,

Roger Goodell

FYI: FYI: Twins Home games in August against Chicago, Boston and Yankees are already sold out. So is Milwaukee over 4th of July weekend, and all the Saturdays in July.

If you want a Cooler Day at Target Field your list of possible Saturdays is rapidly shrinking. Granted, they release extra tickets and standing room tickets shortly before each game, but I wouldn't bank on that for Augusts' games.

A couple decent Saturday games remain:

June 11th vs Texas - 3:10 pm

May 28th (Memorial Day Wknd) vs LA Angels 6:10 pm

All Friday home games still available are 7:10 pm evening games.

I am actually happy that picked the Arden Hills site. Good use of that property and tailgating will be back the way it was in the days of the Met Stadium.

I never agreed with where they put the Metrodome and was only in that facility once for a Girl Scout event when our daughter was in Scouts. I swore when it was built I would never pay to get into it and I didn't. Not that they missed my money, but it made me feel better.

Gonna be fun to watch them "clean up" that property too... Plenty of nasty's out there, but sure they will be able to work around a lot of it... Think the ground water problem will be an issue for years.

Lot of interesting "stuff" in the sediments just south of there too in Round Lake, that will be an interesting clean up too.
