East Side! My son Jeff got laid off as a printer, now a free lance photographer. We have done some stories together. Great time interviewing Weird Al Yankovic.
Thanks for defending the Cooler Crew and trying to set facts straight over there at the crazy board. Unfortunately there are a few that will not believe anything and will never be strayed but at least the facts are there for the rest of the people to read.
nope. once a moron. always a moron. although i did have to go taint them with some more facts too. while we may have had some influence from both ends facilitating the meeting (which of course would have been pouring fuel on the fire to mention, so i didn't), the decision to make it a carnival event, as bear pointed out, was made through a meeting of annette and beth. we had nothing to do with it, nor did the press.
but then again, that's just letting facts get in the way of his reality.
I'm with Mikey, I would buy from both pools. good idea Nimrod. I like the idea of choosing the park I think it will be in AND random with a cool treasure map
This may turn out to be one of the more remarkable examples of atmospheric whiplash we've seen in recent winters. Subzero daytime highs on a Monday, warm enough for rain (and mid 30s) just 5 or 6 days later? We'll see if our late-month thaw holds, but right now long-range models are hinting at a significant warming trend for the 4th week of January, maybe a streak of 30s to near 40, warm enough for a little rain. But first we have to muddle through a coating to 1/2" snow today, maybe another inch of powder from a Friday clipper, and a couple of subzero days early next week.
I remember going out to Mounds Park the day before it was found a couple of years ago. It was so warm I had my jacket unzipped, a beautiful day! I think it got into the high 30's. Then the next day temps dropped and by the time the clue came out it was -20's as I recall. At least the windchill was that low, can't remember if that was actual temp.
I liked that hunt. At least I was in the general vacinity that day. I never expect to actually find it, especiall now that it is pretty much a crap shoot until the end.
I like the fact that the Year it was in Mounds OUR DRINKING SPOT HALF the people that go down there to drink threw a Hissy fit and didnt want to go down there and so No one did I Wish I would have had some George Thorogood That night!
I bet we would have sat on the f@#$ing thin! BUT NO!! I DONT WANT TO GO I WANT TO GO TO TOM REEDS!!
I know the year at BC was very warm. Melted all the snow with the global warming that year so the kids saw it just laying on the hill. Days before, when I checked the hill, it was all covered with ice and snow.
I remember that too. And just as a FYI... St Paul schools will have the 2nd Monday of the hunt off this year too. That BC year it was found by students who were out hunting on the teacher professional day.
I was in the park and not far from the kids when it was found at BC that year, sigh. I was literally jogging around the park just scanning the ground for an ice block thinking that I may find it without even having to dig.
BC- I was just trying to drag my hungover self out of bed after the late night with CM and Me2 when I heard it was found. Decided to go back to bed for a few hours after that.
The trend the last two years has been hiding it in saint paul parks where it's never been before... not sure if there are any medium-large parks left in saint paul that hasn't had the medallion. A lot of small ones and rec centers.
I'm liking the idea of a new park outside of st paul city limits. Maybe Roseville, Maplewood, WBL....
Charge it fully before leaving then less talking more digging  I've never really had to much of an issue with my phone dying then again I don't stay out for hours and hours if it's super cold I always charge it when I'm in my car too
OK. Thanks guys. Maybe I do need a new battery if other people don't have this problem... I would take it out fully charged and would not be talking on it but the battery would go down (I assume because of the cold-- I don't have this problem otherwise and I do know I have had the same issue with my ipod).
Anyone happen to know what happened to BBMTN on the other boards, the "dude" just dropped off the face of the earth. Luvurne2011 says last year's hunt is now being "investigated" by "other sources".
I like the idea of the cell in the inside chest pocket with the hard-wired earphone / microphone hookup. I dunno if anyone has played with those bluetooth earpieces in sub-zero cold, but on the last night when dozens of phones are humming right and left, I would think Bluetooths may be a problem. My wired set would stiffen up in the cold, but if I kept it under my hat/neck warmers it would still be flexible.
Hi everyone!!!! I feel so out of touch! I am having nothing but headaches logging on and even worse. I tried to contact someone for help but no one will accept my messages because I only have gmail and yahoo....ugh! Makes me want to scream. For those that don't remember me: I'm Billie and my husband is Curtis, we brought the cake to the rehash bash last year.(kinda newbies to the Cooler Crew) either way, lloking forward to this year with everyone...this is my much needed vacation!
Right now though, I'm off to the sheets. These 5 day work weeks are exhausting!
Goodnight and SCDs!

my picks.... in St. Paul.... Conway
             outside SP......Spooner
that was a great night mikey! we have had some great nights together...shhhhh dont tell anyone
I actually thought the medallion was back in the woods at BC that year. I was surprised where it was considering the sliding hill right there.
Last year I had a lot of problems with my cell phone battery getting quickly depleted in the cold. How do people avoid this?
I was wondering if putting one of those little hand or toe warmers next to it would help...
Hope to see you out and about in the parks!
I use yahoo e-mail and haven't had any problems contacting the sysops here on Able Minds. I just e-mailed with Mark this morning.
