Something with my pitiful job finally worked! I got my vacation time the 29th through the 2nd! YEAH I get to go a huntin' and hangin at the Press
I don't know but they are getting so freaking big it's scary! I mean who'da thunk I'd have an 8 and 10 year old?!? I will definately have them out hunting with me this year they are looking forward to it and I'm so glad they are older and I can bring them and have them actually help and be into it. Last year was great they had so much fun out at Lilydale.
funny, coincidence that I was just on that web site for an hour last night playing the license plate game, thanks for the reminder, this will keep me up for another hour again tonight!
being able to strip out one complete table from the database on the coolercrew site, having migrated from my "old" management system into the current system. now on to creating a treasure hunt module.
Finally migrating all the old legacy content like pp stories and such into drupal do that I can still keep them linked with the med hunt stuff that isn't in drupal.
My project for the evening failed miserably. I tried again in vain to do a simple task (which I'm pretty sure is due to universal plug and play, what a oxymoronic joke that is) of connecting my xbox 360 to my laptop's windows media center. All that for just trying it out to see how it works. The verdict on that so far is.. Not well.
It might be the router my roommate bought, it's some offbrand thing that I don't even have the default admin password to get into to change the settings. I'd go down and try and grab a model number off of it, but by this point, I've had enough for one evening, and really need some shuteye.
You know I have a ton of problems with mine 360 also I tried for about 12 hrs one day just to get them talking and transferring info they both see one another but wont link and send info It drove me to the point I didn't want anything to do with it anymore!
Agreed. It should be a simple process, but it's a pain in the butt to set up. I can't even imagine a non technical person trying it. Something would get tossed out a window.
Yes Kat! They came yesterday! A million thank yous! Although I didn't get them til this morning, because the BF brought in the mail and then left it in the garage! I made him open it, and then read me the legend in there. He was just reading over my shoulder for the last 20 minutes.. and enjoying the goodhue videos, but now he's snoring louder than a bear ...
THANK YOU ALL from me and my family for the snowflake too! Words cannot express the gratitude, especially since I've been pretty much AWOL here for a L-O-N-G time.
Never have been much of a talker, but these past few years mom and her health have taken me away more than I would have liked. Felt sort of like I was "forgotten" (although I KNOW that's not the case....you can check out but you can never leave!!!)
...STILL don't know if I'll be out at the paper or park(s) much, as I still have family responsibilities with 3 active kiddos, but hey - that's ok too.
You all have brought a renewed sense of love and friendship to our family -- and for that I thank you all, and will hold it in my heart forever.
Emjoy: The BF taking the day off to spend with me and play -- 70degrees in San Francisco today. Brunch in a French/Japanese Fusion restaurant ... and it being FREE thanks to a GC. Then to Golden Gate park to play petanque with a bunch of old french men (all clueless that I understand enough french to know they were sh*t talking the entire time... Finally - Sushi in Mill Valley at one of my favorite little hole in the wall joints. Now home for my clue, and a little noodling before bed.
Getting the 60" LCD mounted above the fireplace. Now to get the ceiling reinforced on the inside instead of the outside. That'll have to come when we replace the ceiling though.
enjoy: my baking with the St. Paul Breadclub book. I made a new years resolution to become a better bread baker. I started a culture of Sourdough (her name is Rose, because she did) and she is really happy like bubbling over the top of the bowl, because it's so warm in our house happy... but that doesn't matter, because I am baking the most amazing breads, pizza doughs, and foccacia EVER! Uber excited!
Check out the book! You (can prolly find it anywhere there..) get it thru the MN historical society. I got my copy on amazon, and it was even autographed by all the contributors.
It's amazing, and the author (Kim Ode) is right, Kneading bread is amazing therapy. You can't talk on the phone, or do other things while you are doing it - it's a full body experience. It allows you to work through all your thoughts.
I've been experiementing with the foccacia, and now have made a balsamic carmelized onion topped batch, sundried tomatoe olive, and a traditional herbed with just a pinch of cheese.
The rye bread is the most phenomenal thing I've ever tasted too.
OH!! *DO* share!! I have just recently returned to baking bread a few weeks back. Think I've done about 10 loaves of honey wheat - but a sourdough to add to the rotation would be awesome!
My sister just brought me a french baquette (sp?) and a block of fudge from "The bikery" traditional french bakery in Stillwater. She said they were all speaking French there. I gotto go try their croissants.
I didn't make the sourdough starter in the book (it didn't work for me, and it's WAY hard to find pumpernickel rye flour here)
But mix 2 cups flour, with a packet of yeast, and 2 cups water (about 110-155 deg f) with 2 teaspoons of table sugar. Stir really well, and set in a glass bowl, covered loosely with plastic wrap and then a kitchen towel on top of that. Let it sit for a day or two to get bubbly, and you have starter.
then each day after, take out a cup, and mix in 1 cup of flour with 1 cup water (same temp as above) after a week - two weeks (if it's "happy") you can move it to the fridge with a tight cover and then just feed it right before you use it.
I've opted to just make bread nearly every day, or every other day, and use my cup that I need to pull out. On days when I don't make bread, I just dump the cup (or give it to a friend as a starter) because I don't want it go dormant.
You can pretty much take any bread recipe you have, and substitue the yeast and water for a cup of starter. I have been trying to make Brother Juniper's 3 pepper bread, but my dutch oven doesn't seem to agree with the recipe. (or i'm doing something wrong) both entirely possible.
Best baguettes and croissants I've found in the cities are at Trung Nam French bakery on University Ave. in St. Paul.
It's a really unassuming place one would be likely to drive right on past....in an old Church's fried chicken (or something like that). But OMG - the baguettes are just perfection! Croissants too, and reasonably priced.
Ya, I hate that starter, but I don't really like sweet bread. It's just as easy to put down the drain, but I've been bringing the bread to work, and now people want to make it themselves.
The beauty is, after the first 2 weeks, you can leave it in the fridge and only feed it before use... but the longer you keep it on the counter, the better the sour flavor it develops.
I've considered driving "Rose" to San Francisco for the day, in hopes of picking up some of the salty air quality in her sourness.
I can't beleive your kids are so old already! Where did the time go?
Today she tells me how do you wake up Lady Ga Ga poke her face LOL
DECODED

You can't hide.
A post from Penny
Thanks for the snowflake, it's very beautiful! It means a lot to me. And I'll treasure the memories of my Dad. (Tears)
(Then I got a big hug from her)

This old a$$ computer is just zipping along!
now to figure out how to get old and new connected at the same time...

I love authentic french bakeries. mmm!
After awhile, people start running when they see you coming. There is a point when starter starts to be too much of a good thing,
