Something is SERIOUSLY messed up if Jakeback mountain gets pulled from the PP boards yet nothing else does.

No kidding, with all that crazy F and C bombs being dropped by Brokestunk and all the other nasty shit being posted, they pull that!!

I think BBMTN is off the boards now. I saw the "F the Cooler Crew" thread was completely gone. As Mad Dog pointed out last night, those subject lines show up on the main treasure page of the website. But the other people that have been complaining haven't really broken the TOS.

Great poem, Eye - gave me goosebumps, or as Green would say, sparklies.

So...how the heck are ya? I understand you will be contributing Chinese noodles to the hunt this year?

Today is one of mixed bags.

Today we get a new clue so we can having something new to noodle.

Today we get to spend some time with our daughter.

This evening our daughter leaves to go back to DC.

And yes, Eags, Chinese noodles in the Cooler this year. Ah, the world has changed. Eye even hears that if you turn over the Med, you can see the tiny inscription "Made in China" there on the back.

Which is kind of stupid, because everybody knows ittiz plastic, now.

Many boards here, Eags. Thins out the chili too much.

"Shoot the breeze with the Cooler Crew" is where Eye left it. Gonna hang here for awhile.

Been digging through the history here a bit. Not many thousand-post nights. What's up with that?

The multiple folders helps narrow topics of discussion so during the hunt, you don't have to slog through 1000's of post of miscellaneous conversations if you really only want to discuss the clues.

So if you have a computer question.. there's a folder for that, one for geocaching, one for pictures, pets/kids, song lyrics, jokes, links, etc. Most of the clue discusssion is in the hunt folder. This folder is for miscell. chit chat.

It helps streamline the conversations and helps people who still have to work or have slow computers/internet.

Okay noodlers. Old Eye has a few pointers.

#1) Eye and Bee did this treasure hunt thing for many, many years. While we never got to grab one, we both stepped on a few, watched others nearby jump for joy, and were always very close (though, happily, we never actually threw away a treasure, like one hidden perhaps in an earmuff, just for instance).

#2) Based on experience, Eye can tell you Do Not Read Too Much Into The Clues. Those of you citing obscure band lyrics that were written based a the color of a mole on the lead singer's right thigh are probably off in left field. KEEP IT SIMPLE.

#3) That said, lots of people are already inferring that the first clues suggest a tie to newspapers and sea captains. For those willing to dig, here's some more to keep you busy: The Minnesota Pioneer (later to become the Pioneer Press) was founded by a guy named James M. Goodhue. Apart from the newspaper, there are several other intriguing ties to this Goodhue fellow:

a) In 1850 or so, old James published four accounts of exploratory steamboat trips up the Minnesota River ( http://mrbdc.wrc.mnsu.edu/mnbasin/fact_sheets/steamboatadv_goodhue.html )

b) A WWII Liberty ship was named after him, the SS James M. Goodhue.

c) There is a Goodhue Street in old Saint Paul, fairly close to the river, over by Mancini's, the High Bridge and Saint Clair Playground.

For what ittiz worth...

agreed, look at my quote above my picture.

James Goodhue is also the guy reading the clues in the videos. Having made him sort of the mascot of the hunt, it would seem a bit odd to have a clue about him.

UGH!!!

Good Morning Eye.
Mon, 01/24/2011 - 5:53 AM Permalink
Ittiz Eye

That said, Eye's still struggling with the "captain" part. Goodhue wasn't a captain. Simply a guy that wrote stories, started a newspaper and had a ship named after him (that was sold off after the war and abandoned in 1966!)

'Bout time you diggers got out of bed. Eye can't stay up all night. Green isn't here to provoke me.

I think the videos are stranger this year than last. That blow up doll thing is creepy.
Mon, 01/24/2011 - 5:59 AM Permalink
Ittiz Eye

Eye hasn't seen the vids. I guess Eye's a little old fashioned. My idea of getting clues is jumping out of the car at midnight and rushing the PP loading dock to grab a paper that was still wet from the press.

Videos with Judy-dolls seems like a different website Eye knows...
