The 'Cap' Wigington thing seems like a stretch to me but they're really after it at the PP boards. Of course, this early, there's no reason to dismiss anything.
I do like the Cleavland Ave/Thom Dr noodle leading to Perry Park. There's plenty of space there and I'm not sure of the park boundaries, but I recall riding my BMX bike around there back in the day. Plenty of woods surrounding a reasonably large park. Plenty of parking, but not much of a walk.
Some of the Hidden Falls stuff fits (with lock and dam #1, lots of woods, many steps from your (car) door, etc) but it almost seems too easy?
Just to be clear, is Harriet Island disallowed by the rules or not this year? That's a hell of a walk no matter where you park.
a state of overwhelming usually pleasurable emotion <most people can't imagine the kind of elation that comes with winning a super lottery's grand prize, but they're dying to find out>
One thing to note is that in the past (according to the super grid), it's most common for specific features/amenities of a park to be mentioned in the first or second clue, rewarding those that really know the details of the area parks.
In later clues (3 and on) is when more generic 'near site' and 'visible from' type clues start to come, rescuing those of us trying to dig too deep into the first couple.
With that in mind, I look towards the first clue or two for details not 'it's near the river' type stuff.
I'm stretching my noodle lol... ok so we all know the vulcans are doing the snow sculpting and its out at the fair grounds (which are off limits correct?) Vulcans being artistic and all that I decided to check on this angle. So I'm trying to see if I can make the park be outside of st. paul because I'm convinced it is, and what do I find....if you look at the registration info you find you have to register with them at a Maplewood Address... ok enough noodle stretching for me today if I stretch it any futher my noodle will break and then where will I be?
Is that hillcrest knoll park?... I was just researching that one before the hunt because it's a newer park and it's not in Mappy's book and not on every map. It was the area that was flooded in 1997, so they demolished about 1.5 city blocks and they dug a 7.5 ft deep detention pond for flash flooding. The park is somewhat bowl shaped. Not much there though for landmarks. The city has wanted to put more things in the park, but the neighborhood doesn't want anything in there that would attract people -- weird.
Weird coincidence. I got an invite from a guy on Facebook who calls himself Diggs Cleveland. As much as I can see without opening the invite, he says he's looking for an old friend who has the same name as my FB name. Unlikely it is anyone who knows me, most long-lost friends go looking for me under my maiden name. Just weird, though...Diggs Cleveland.
"Folks: As many of you noticed Sunday night, Clue 2 was accidentally available a few hours early in video form. This was not intentional and we've taken steps to ensure it won't happen again.
That's one way to interpret the 'many steps' line. Don't forget, though, that it's many more steps away from 'your doorsteps'. Many of us (hunters) don't live in St. Paul.
Yes, but many hunters line up on the door steps of Ma Press.. and get the paper. Those steps pretty much belong to the hunters during the hunt.
I keep coming back to the stand and deliver in the second part as well.. One of the oaths of the Army is to stand and deliver for our forefathers. Military people, definately stand and deliver on a daily basis much like newspaper carriers. I also thought about Mail carriers.. isn't the huge 'lost mail' postoffice on Fillmore? By the river?
dead letter center no longer there... downtown post office moved to eagan
I don't think they would ever involve the PO again... as it is against federal law to mess with anything dealing with the mail. And you know morons would try digging in mailboxes etc. (I work for the USPS)
Ah. It's featured in my 2011 St. Paul Almanac. No I don't think they would involve the USPS.. but they may hint that a large branch office of the USPS is near by, or with in view. Of course, I think a recruiters office or anything Military maybe as well.
Something else that has bugged me with the videos. Goodhue says his friend is 'puffed up with oxygen" Well Oxygen doesn't float, it's denser than air. In the first clue video of the doll, it's attached to a string, in the second one, it opens and appears to be stuck to the ceiling via floating.
He's hardly mellow... Also Oxygen doesn't make you mellow, increasing oxygen flow, increases your alerntness and stamina. (things you need to be on your game in the hunt)
Not that it's part of any of the official clues, but does St. Paul have any of those nifty Oxygen bars? any near parks?
last year the video's had no importance in clues themselves and I'm going with that same thinking for this year I wasted a lot of time noodling the videos and not enough on the written clues.
They had no "official" importance - but there was a theme that appears related to the park/area - in alot of the earlier videos there was some type of arm swinging going on - which (in our minds) related to the swing arm bridge.
Marley and I are keeping an eye out looking for a theme in the videos, maybe there will be one, maybe not - but not discounting it yet.
Its Phalen...ha....far from the paper..stand and deliver..in Ramsey...outside or edge of St Paul...circulation (Wheelock)...AND...it is close to my home.

Just a thought.

Hi!
"Folks: As many of you noticed Sunday night, Clue 2 was accidentally available a few hours early in video form. This was not intentional and we've taken steps to ensure it won't happen again.
Happy hunting!"
Why did they name it that when it's Highland neighborhood and the Hillcrest neighborhood is at the opposite end of the city?
I also like the idea that many steps, means not in St. Paul,, but farther away.

I still really like that or that it is indicating it is outside of the ST. Pual Limits.

Nothing to contribute yet unfortunately...soon I hope!

They'll be a clue near the end asking that whatever you dig up, you dispose of properly - do the deed; dig the doo!
So is anyone actually out digging today... or scouting parks?
