Actually, I like 32 paces from the path as a clue. You don't know what path, what park, but you know if you walk 33 paces off the patch, you are not in the zone. Extremely useful, if not particularly precise.
So I went for my 1st peek out there, I still hunch this is outside St.Paul proper. Many more steps... so I drove up 61..prime location... and found a park called "Deer Meadow". OK, I was looking for a different park and got lost. Parks a park at this point in the game. I had to make it fit my mind, so I rethought chestnut gentle sentimental blah blah Glen... "Deer Meadow"-(note the double meaning deer/dear)close enough! Lotsa woods deep in this area, any way you look at it- this is going to be a rough dig. I think I threw out my shoulder.
All indications seem to indicate the medallion was hidden somewhere between Monday and Wednesday of last week. Tuesday is when they announced the editor was leaving. I'm assuming the average PP employee would not have had more than one day's prior notice of that because that's just how such departures work. Clue 2 makes it sound like something related to that is hidden with the medallion so obviously that couldn't have been done before they knew about it. Also, the "Deed is Done" video came out Tuesday or Wednesday I think. So like last year, it seems it's not going to be hidden under virgin snow, though the excavate clue makes it sound like it is under snow. Thus I'd stick to areas with traffic, especially signs of recent traffic as that's the only place it could be hidden without being obvious. The CW could have dug all the way to the bottom though and then covered it back up.
He will probably cover his steps and burial-but keep an eye out for a 3point snow mark for a tripod - in case he videos his hiding again- those tracks he may forget to cover.

The hunt may be dedicated to Thom something, a PP employee who will soon move to Cleaveland. Apparently he had made some public comments about being upset the year Jake found it on clue 3 at Hidden Falls park.
So for clue 3 -"stores of Yore" - could refer to Stories of Jake - local legend etc
Days in the Glen (Glen is a valley) - could refer to hidden falls park
When men were men - could mean when Jake "Was THE Man!" and found it by clue 3
Prodigious bore - could mean - people are sick of hearing about the Jake stuff.
It's a stretch I know but it could be at that Park since Thom whoever was disappointed that it got found so quickly there.
Also What's Jake's last name "Ingstebrighton" or something like that? - What nationality is that? Och! Is a scottish word.
Of course, OBVIOUSLY - I forgot that some people like you actually do know exactly where the thing is hidden - not sure why you dont have it yet though.
And yes, I'm Jake's dad (Really?!)
Of course Jake's a local legend among hunters -unless you have your head stuck too far in the snow to have heard. If he's not a dig legend then why do people just have to mention "Jake" and we all know who they're talking about?
I love the Jake being a local legend. em651 has that pegged. Look at the stir the legend has created over on the PP boards. Before the start of this hunt, it seemed every third or fourth thread had his name in the title.
Not that this matters, but why is Goodhue and his blow up friend in the ladies' room? One side is sinks, the other all stalls. What commercial Mens' room has that many stalls? And no urinals? I suppose at the paper, all the guys, erm, bring in the paper?
Is the "Captain" of the "ship" Brett Favre and the Vikings? Vikings were great sea captains. There's got to be a reference to Brett somewhere in these clues. Maybe a video will have a blow-up doll giving a massage...
Actually, I showed the clues to one of my co-workers - whos never hunted and doesn't really know St Paul - and she got the Vikings out of it. She said that reading it more like a story thats the impression she got.
Someone needs those anti smoking ads worse than us hunters
Poll: How many cigarettes a day does the bartender at ABB smoke each day?
A ) sneaks out for one or two
B ) no more than the average smoker
C ) polishes off a pack a day
D ) polishes off a carton a day
E ) I don't care, all I know is as long as she's alive I'm putting my life savings in Marlboro stock
F ) None, She's really a man having a sex change
1/2 price appetizers with a Cooler button.
is that all?
:eyeroll: Geez... lets get to work...
I also liked the 3200 sign from Lake Como.
I believe the prime location is where the med is sitting under the snow.
Now if we could get a better idea of the park, we could start moving all those miles of snow.
Right now, I'm liking Como, but it's early and those first connections often don't hold water - frozen, frosty, or liquid.

1 step or 2 steps (l and r). 2 steps is what I would call a pace.
But if it's 'steps' from the sidewalk, it's going to be quite a different distance.
Maybe a yard or a metre.
•the rate of moving (especially walking or running)
•footstep: the distance covered by a step; "he stepped off ten paces from the old tree and began to dig"
•walk with slow or fast paces; "He paced up and down the hall"
•the relative speed of progress or change; "he lived at a fast pace"; "he works at a great rate"; "the pace of events accelerated"
•go at a pace; "The horse paced"
•measure (distances) by pacing; "step off ten yards"
•tempo: the rate of some repeating event
•regulate or set the pace of; "Pace your efforts"
•yard: a unit of length equal to 3 feet; defined as 91.44 centimeters; originally taken to be the average length of a stride

I'm sure that will be the explanation when its all done.
bwahahaha!

Now we just need one with some sort of land.
