She can keep it up all year or whenever she wants.
We all care ~ life is hard sometimes ~ and I for one am glad to have found a family that stands next to you through difficult times and good times, either in prayers or physical help ~ all of us matter.
I can't make it out tonight but if I get sleep tomorrow during the day (which hasn't been happening I've been up by 2 for 3 days straight) I'll be out tomorrow let me know where you'll be at!
Eye's take so far: 1) Lots of newspaper references, e.g., dispatch, deliver, carrier, stand, etc. 2) Lots of frozen water references, ice, water, dammed, icicles, etc. 3) References to a deep valley (glen) with a horse nearby. And some miserable hiking trails. Med is buried off to the side of a trail. 4) Prodigious bore makes me think of a big drilling rig of some sort. Anybody seen any wells these days? Picture of an oil rig? Logo?
See you all at re-hash--Got two birds in the oven. Time to revert to normal life. Cancelled vacation for next week. Gonna go to Vegas later instead. Gotta get 10k the old-fashioned way.
I have to say that it is so nice to hear someone else voice my exact thoughts. I am not an outgoing-people person either and the big events give me a bit of anxiety... but everyone here has always been incredibly gracious and friendly and has even remembered me from previous years even though my participation has been minimal. It really does seem to be a great group of people.
I learned how to think about the clues from you guys way back on the old cooler crew board and have learned how to hunt from you in person over that past years. The first cooler I met gave my son a PP earband (from a previous year giveaway) when we were inline for the paper and he was inadequately dressed. He still talks about that (and wears the earband).
I decided today that I am going to start geocaching and have been stunned by the outreach that has happened as cooler crew members reached out to answer my questions and help me figure out how to start.
I think this is a GREAT group of people... even if my primary contact with them is online.
stick around a bit andrea; aw's moving the mock hunt up a few weeks so that the first clue is coming out at the rehash. while we'd love for you to be at the rehash, if crowds aren't your thing we get it. but definitely follow the hunt around here!
Andrea, didn't I meet you last year down at the newspaper so we'd have the first crack at clue 12?
I was first in line, I took the noon-1 p.m. shift. I think Andrea came to relieve me, John Brewer and one other person were out talking to me, Andrea and I said hi, exchanged pleasantries, and John said "You guys know each other?" we looked at each other and said "No." in unision. But it made perfect sense to the two of us.
Just got a text from Molly Hermes. She and Daniel will meet us at the bottom of Battle Creek at 3:15 and walk in to where they found the medallion. Everyone is free to show up and go for a stroll.
We gave up on paper delivery some years ago. Our next door neighbors always had good luck - with just a couple exceptions. They have a box they bought from the paper and it's mounted directly under their mail box. It says NEWSPAPER on it.
We bought the same box and mounted ours in the same area below our mail box.
Our homes are very similar as they are both ramblers with fenced front yards.
We couldn't get that very same carrier to get the paper in the box here more than once a week.
We even had the route supervisor out here to look for himself once as we couldn't get the carrier to put the paper in the box. We had it all over the front yard, on the stoop when it was raining or snowing without a cover on it, In the front gate even.
The supervisor agreed, said he'd talk to the carrier, and assured us it would be in the box from that point forward. We said if it wasn't we would be cancelling. Within three days, we cancelled and said never again.
I was so sad to read this post. You and I don't cross paths often except on-line mostly but I consider you my friend. It's almost as if we are in different states but keep in contact through the internet instead of by phone. You are a very intellegent person that I enjoy reading. Your input and ideas are greatly impressionable, liked and wanted. If you chose to go another way, please know you WILL be thought of and missed. ::sigh::
My oldest son had a route in the '70's and I delivered the afternoon paper for him when he had after school activities and helped him deliver the Sunday paper. We were pretty good! Put papers between screen door and front door, on porches, etc. He had one customer who lived in an apartment and someone kept stealing his paper before he got to it. So we'd take apart the paper and slide the sections under his door.

It should have the same expiration as mine.

We just got a call from the PP trying to sell us a subscription for the paper.
Not that we would do it because we don't need that hassle with missing papers all the time, but I might have considered before the hunt.
I hate my delivery guy, and I renounce the shout out to them in the clues. So there. :pbpt:
