Awww FUDGE! I guess I would feel a lot worse if this was one of those times where I KNEW where it was.....OR if I'd been convinced it was in a different park.
Congrats to the finders, look forward to hearing their stories.
I stayed up late till bar closing with some friends for their birthday, roll out of bed at about 10:30 only to find out online it's been found, the pity party is practically done already and AW is starting his Mock Hunt!
I missed the "1pm" part! Was figuring we couldn't meet up with everyone cause Emily has a hockey game this evening -- but we can maybe swing by for a bit this afternoon!
I don't know that its broadcast except snippets on the local news. The paper puts up pictures and the clue explanations and someone's video of the event will most likely end up on YouTube.
So if everyone is looking for something for something to do this weekend. There is a flashmob planned for Sunday at Rice Park.
A flashmob is where random people learn a dance then meet up in a public place to perform it for unsuspecting public. All ages and abilities welcome. Commom spots are malls, train stations, public squares, etc. Go to youtube for examples.
MD I agree I woke up at 10 after a 2 hour nap thinking I was going out then found that everyone already was at the pity party....Oh well...to bad my taxes don't come in until Feb 11 or I'd be planning a trip outta town right now
BBAAAWWWWW, I think I am gonna cry. I wasn't even close to finding anything and I was seriously looking forward to actually meeting some of you out in the snow this year. I even had my husband convinced to watch our newborn baby, Lyra, just so I could hunt. Bummer. :crying:
Or what might work better than trying to coordinate a massive "text tree" to make sure everyone gets covered, we could have like a message board where things get posted and then everyone could see it at once. Oh wait...
Looking at those pictures I can't believe I climbed it, much less skied down it. But then, I also dove off the Wirth Park 10m diving platform about that same time. Our former neighbor had two sons who belonged to that ski club and used to do that.
There was someone on the crazy board talking about this site specifically and digging it up. I wonder if they missed it?
The funny thing is that the finders would not have found it but one of them fell down and when they were trying to get that person out of the snow, they saw it sitting right there.
Also, the guy is a vet and is giving some money to the vets.
The ski jump isn't there anymore. The only things left are wooden supports from the steps that used to be next to the jump. It is on the lower part of Battle Creek between Highway 61 and Upper Afton Road.
Chalk this up as something you would never catch me climbing in a million years. Anyone got a google map that shows where it used to be in the park? Or can you still see the clearing from satellite?
'The location of the puck — near a stairwell that served a defunct ski jump in the park — was also a short distance from the home of Jake Ingebrigtson, two-time finder of the medallion. "
Someone posted on the old PP board that they were digging around there yesterday. Wow, that would suck.

I left the lower part of bc last night by the old ski jump around 6:30, their was nobody searching only 2 cars in the lot, I was the last one out of that lower end, so I picked a spot to dig up this morning thought I would be able to search today, by the way, dug up the old stairway at the bottom of the jump, also between the big rock & bench and spent some time by the lone pine across from the cave, can't believe after last night they went out and found it so soon, was just leaving to search this morning when I saw it had been found ,with the few people in that park the last 2 days seems crazy, most people were just walking up & down the trail not digging
ski jump. stiff upper lip?
The old ski jump had many more steps that the jumpers had to climb while carrying their skis (carriers).

Edit to add? Just saw the picture and comments on FB and looks like that's the plan.
Today 1pm at Ol Mexico
Next Sunday at Newell for a potluck at 11:30am
It was found on top or next to a pile someone already had excavated by the ski jump at 2:30am.
