It sounds like it was hidden in front of the tree, by where the leaf is in your picture. They found it sitting after they looked in that tree. I think their boots uncovered it when they slipped.
At least that whats the discription from the paper suggested to me. The start of the strairs is on level with the very bottom of your picture.
I agree it probly was in front of the tree. Heres her post from the crazy board:
Thank you thank you!! Well, at the Press Conference, Cooler Crew asked us if we're going to head down there at all in the daytime as they would like to see exactly where it was. I think we're probably going to head out there tomorrow around 2, but I will let you know for sure. I was liking Como for most of the clues and were out at Como on Thursday night after the 6th clue as we were making the Fred MacMurray references and McMurray fields. My mom also said something about William MacMurray and the beginnings of BC, but we just weren't making anything else fit too well. When we got "a bit of grace" it was like an epiphany. We had been wondering why we hadn't gotten any street name references yet as there should have been some... da agony of da feet=da bears=white bear avenue. stiff upper lip we connected to upper afton. and then we had thought about the whole ABC thing and like I told the PP, it literally all just clicked and we were out the door and on our way. We found it by a tree next to the steps. We parked on C Street climbed over the snow and walked on the little footpath. We saw the one pine tree by itself and saw the steps leading down to the lower part. We really didn't want to go down and have to come back up right there, as we parked on C Street, but we slid down the remains of the stairs anyways. In the lower part my boyfriend and I were trying to dig under fallen things and holes and roots of trees. It just seemed to us that they were like little caves and crevices from which the medallion would have to be excavated. We were also trying to look for odd things that the CW could possibly reference for when it came down to clue 11 and 12 that would be easy enough to spot. Then when we were leaving, that tree caught our eyes, I don't think it was a chestnut tree... that line is still bugging us too... After he slipped and I had to move over for him to get up and I sat down... and there it was... I couldn't even believe it... It was so surreal...
Just got a post from Cluemaster....The finders are going to be at the bottom of BC (by 61) at 3:15pm Sunday. If you wanna see where it was come on down!
I took this video this afternoon at Battle Creek. The medallion hunt finders came by with several members of the Cooler Crew. I thought it was great for them to show the site and do a brief reenactment.
I find it strange how it was found by accident again this year. On an other note not to wine doesn't the St Paul Bouncers club count as a Winter Carnival Partner?
Here is a funny little nugget and also a life lesson. When your mom tells you that before the first clue comes out that she feels that it will be at Battle Creek by the old ski jump, don't dismiss it as an odd ball idea. I asked her on Saturday how she came about that idea and she told me that when she was in Battle Creek sketching in a journal, she say a man walking around taking pictures and intently writing things down. I think that was the clue writer. Had she mentioned that info to me, I would have been there from the get-go, but she just made it sound like a wild guess. Oh well, I thought that hunt was fine, I liked the clues, just wish I could have gotten out and hunted more. See you all next Sunday.
Oh wow! I guess the moral to that story is we all spend our down time in area parks, sketch pads in tow, to get a jump on the competition. What time of the year did she see this man?
She was there in June. I thought it was so strange that she had such a specific idea of where it would be. Just funny to me that she never mentioned that she had seen the clue writer/scout out.
I don't honestly think the clue writer spends much time in the parks. Maybe an afternoon or so to scope out a spot. But the way they're hidden anymore, it just doesn't seem like it would take long to do the physical work.
Still sloggin here, but have to correct you in that it's ABC's Wide World of Sports. Not World Series of Sports. Great clue, just kills me that I totally knew about ABC streets and already said what the agony of defeat was. Yet I still ended up searching in that frigggen CoNo park once again. Man I hate that. I had a picture of the AB cross street sign from a few weeks earlier. Sad :frown:
see the log sticking out by Mikey? thats where Mikey dug. See where Molly is sitting? She found the medallion roughly 30 minutes after Mikey dug there, sitting on top of the snow, to the right of where she is sitting in that photo. I think Mikey flipped it. ::sigh::
no I didn't do a reggie! The med was uphill from where I looked. Pretty tough to throw snow up hill with my hoebow thing. I'm glad I didn't...woulda felt even worse
Since that video was filmed after the fact, how does the hider know exactly where it was found unless they were along when the finders showed people? Question to those that had speculated from where they described it to the actual site. Is it different from where you imagined it to be?
Too much like hiding it near the top of the sledding hill last time.
