I'm having a ice cold Wailua from Hawaii's Kona Brewey, does that qualify as a cooler event?

Thanks ares. Sometimes the simplest things just escape - or get misfiled.

That's why I pointed out the room that we can reserve. That place is dead 15 minutes before any game.

Yarussos' didn't work well because of the separate rooms, I felt really bad for Rich (Lilman), because hardly anyone was in the half of the restaurant where he had is DJ stuff set up all night. Yarussos' is awesome for a pre clue hangout though. My vote would go to Obbs, I think that basement space is perfect, and food and drinks are reasonable (way cheaper than ABB). Even if we could get specials at ABB, I was not impressed with them at all this past year and would be hesitant to give them my business. We were bringing a dozen people in every night, yet they wouldn't give us any specials, even weeknights at 11:45 pm.

Yarussos' was a little disjointed.

Obbs needs less tables and more chairs. And, no offense to 'Lil Man, but once he got tunes rockin' NO ONE could hear themselves talk. If everyone is going to be in one room, the volume needs to be moderated somewhat.

Yarusso's was a hassle because the dinner crowd was still there when it started. If the time got pushed back to maybe 8:30 if would've been less awkward. I've always liked having one space for dancing, and the other for drinking/cooling off.

I can't imagine going to Obb's again. The space downstairs is much too small and the noise much too deafening.

Yarusso's worked better after the dinner crowd moved out, but it wasn't as good a venue for the PDG as I had thought it would be.

BGF - not sure who you talked to (or if anyone tried to make any arrangments) but they have always been willing to do specials if you arrange it ahead of time with the owner. I have never had a problem.

I would like to try Joseph's. But then I would end up where everyone else goes.

Was it DeGidios? Has an awesome backroom- we have tried before to get that place.

Has anyone talked to Yarusso's yet about the PreDig?

Wasn't sure we were doing it there this year. From what I remember is that we were going with ABB but the guard had it booked first last year otherwise we were gonna try there. Although Yarussos has always been great to us.

ABB wuld be good, however there is a Wild game that night at the X, so it will be a zoo and they probably won't close down for us. There's a thread on the Cooler Crew Facebook page about this btw.

honestly it doesn't really matter if anyone closes down for us or not; after all yarusso's didn't last year. same thing about it being a zoo. so was yarusso's. i'd personally like to see something less zoo-like this time around regardless of where that someplace is.

I thought someone had mentioned Joseph's. Don't they have a room?

That's been my choice for years but it's probably the worse for Wild games. Although it's a ghost town once the busses leave.

O Gara's Garage may not be booked yet - just sayin',

Just tossing this out there... Since the FIRST CLUE is no longer a real 'event', maybe we should look at FRIDAY instead of Saturday - there's going to be be better availability, and maybe the FIRST CLUE could be an event - when does early weekend edition of the PP come out?

That's not a bad idea and I'd have no objections considering it hasn't really been a predig gig for a while now. However I think we need to consolidate the discussion in one place, either here or on facebook.

Here please.

A final decision could then go to Facebook.

Time and time again I'm surprised at the fact that in terms of the PDG nothing is good enough for this group. I think Jimmy at Obb's has been good to us and Fred at Yarusso's has been FANTASTIC.

If you want less crowd, lets rent a room somewhere. If you want the drink specials, go somewhere that offers them to us. However, you won't find someone who will give you a free party room AND drink specials, especially the night of a Wild game. If you do find someone that will (unlikely), lets do it there.

The guys at Yarusso's are going to be disappointed, they love having us there. I think that the group needs to step back and remember that we live in a capitalistic country and restaurants and bars are in business to make as large a profit as they possibly can. There is no entitlement, only good gestures.

I can't believe I am saying this but... I agree :lipsealed:

I have many connections from the carnival world and have offered up in the past options of places with free rental with food and drink specials, but was always shot down or it opened up huge debates to the point that I no longer wish to use up my energy and have bowed out the past few years.

There are valid points to all the complaints and compliments of every place. I would like to narrow things down a bit so the outside late coming suggestions are discouraged as they just cause unneeded dialog anyway. (January 15th - "Why not Tobies? I like Tobies and it has great space too....." )

Just saying. Once we agree to discuss a couple/few choices we should keep it to those choices only and weigh our options. I totally agree with both Jimmy and Freddie treating us great. Which would weigh on the good side of both places but there's other issues that weigh on the other side as well. It shouldn't be that hard to do once we narrow things down.

I like Yarusso's. It was the regular customers over dinner that made it less than ideal. What if we started at 8?

Obb's is so small downstairs. It's my only objection to using that place again.

Yarussos would be great, lets start a little later to avoid the crowd as Terry suggested. I think things opened up quite comfortably after dinner.

agreed as well. the 6pm start isn't really workable with a dinner crowd still in place. and we have to do something so the dj music (if lilman does it again) doesn't drown out conversation all through the place.

If it's Yarusso's at the later start time, are we planning a meal deal? Reason I ask is that Y's probably needs to know if they need to keep a cook late that evening. Personally I'd be fine getting a large pizza for a table as long as I get a few pieces off the top first.

How would y'all feel about having the Predig at American Burger Bar? I talked to Kat and she thought that she would be able to get us drink specials there. They won't shut down for us (but neither will anywhere else, so that doesn't matter). I am never there outside the hunt, but Kat said that ABB never gets very busy, even during Wild games. They validate for parking as long as you buy food. Thoughts? I am also going to cross post this to the Facebook group.

I wouldn't be opposed to the ABB either. As long as there is room and a chance to talk to folks.

I always liked ABB as the best room anyway. You can always go off to the side if you wanted talk time and there's an actual dance floor for those who want to get out and boogie. Parking isn't free (unless you buy food) but it's next door anyway. Price would be a factor as Obbs and Yarussos treated us nice in that category.

ABB has $3 Rails, $1 Off Taps & Bottles, $4 Bloodies & Margaritas, $5 Cosmos, + $3 Off Apps from 10:30pm-close, and Kat may be able to get us additional deals on top of that.
