Happy Valentines Day Everyone!! Here's hoping that each and every one of you know that you're loved on this day and throughout the year. Enjoy the day for what it is.
I know there's a 'Pizza Night' already on the calendar for this weekend (Friday), but who's interested in going to this doubleheader on Saturday night?
The GATE PRICE is substantially larger (almost 2x more) than buying a $22 ticket in advance, so let's get a group together.
I can't go to see the roller girls on saturday night because I'm taking care of my grandson so my daughter in law can go and hear my son's band who are playing at half time for the roller girls. I hope some of you get to go. It sounds like a fun time.
If you want to get your disco on, the Minnesota Music Cafe (off Payne Ave by Yarusso's) has Boogie Wonderland at 9:30 Friday night as well. They have a cover charge, but it's usually like $5-$8.
We also have a google calnder link above that people can add events to. It shows up on peoples smart phone calenders if they add the calender to their phone. Hardly any one uses it, but I do.
If you want to go to this doubleheader, you have to buy tickets off the internet with the discount code "roller" to get the cheap $22 or $27 rate, which is roughly HALF PRICE of walking up to the gate and buying tickets for both events. I got a couple tickets last night, and they were 4th row - so I don't think you need to worry about getting a good seat - but you CANNOT get this price at the door.
I wasn't going to go because I thought I had something else going on. Then I realized I didn't so I was thinking about it after all. But then I had a relapse of my cold yesterday (or maybe it's a different one?) and decided not to go and get everyone else sick. I hope everyone had fun.
--- I'd be up for a 'Game Night' once a month or so - get out a board game or card game or something like that. Bring potluck munchies, make some sloppy joes or taco salad or grill something... could be a trend.
HOLY this is legit! GET THE PP for 1 year for $1 OR 2 years for $2.
I think it's Wed, Thursday & Sunday.
NOT a $1 week - the whole year for $1!!
The Sunday alone is $1.50 a week. That would be $78 just in Sunday papers.
CM is gonna try to get the letter posted here- he took a pic of it at Carbone's the other night.
My mom brought the letter in to Carbones to show us how crazy this deal must be a misprint. She called the pp obits dept and got transfered to circulation dept.
What amazes me is they accepted a credit card for the $1!
Saving almost $300 a year sounds good to me. And I wouldn't have to tip as much. I wonder if this is offered to current subscribers though. Comcast always has those great deals for new subscribers while old customers just keep getting a raise in the rates. Probably to cover those new subscribers.
Thanks! I wouldn't get it myself, just because I deal with enough physical paper every day. In fact, I spent most of Saturday just trying to get all of my old paperwork sorted out, I'm frankly sick of paper, lol.
So much paper, I've resolved to go as far paperless as I can.
I didn't get the good deal diggin got, but because I signed up for auto-payment they cut my bill by $4.20 a month. :eyeroll: Wish I'd known about that discount years ago!
I read the paper online. In 30+ years, we've never gotten a paper delivered consistently where it's supposed to be (in our paper box purchased from the PiPress). It more often ends up somewhere in the yard, bushes, under the snow, half out of it's plastic bag in the rain, etc. etc.
Our next door neighbot with the same paper box always gets it delivered correctly.
Paper boys, paper girls, adults now delivering it and still they can't get it right.
A while back we started finding the paper in our front yard - still random places usually - and we had to call more than a couple times to get it to stop. Turns out it was someone else who had ordered the paper and the one time the rep on the phone asked us if we just didn't want to keep getting it because it was paid for.
We said no and then told him why. He said well we can get word out to the route supervisor yada yada yada. We've heard that line so many times its comical. Why they can't find out paper box when they can clearly find the neighbors - and theirs is in the same place on their house that ours is - craziness.
The deal isn't worth the aggravation. I can find crazy somewhere else.
We DO really like getting the paper coupons in the Sunday paper, and let a guy sign me up for a year last March. Can't tell you how many "credits" I have for missed papers....must be close to 2 weeks' worth.
Originally it was supposed to be just Thursday through Sunday, but just recently this year they began adding Wednesday too... Of course they don't TELL you they're sending an additional day's paper...it's just there one day when you go to check the mail. I've tried EVERYTHING to get them to stop bringing Wednesday...No Luck.
I know it sounds silly....but I didn't really even want the Thurs-Sat days, just really wanted the Sunday paper without having to leave the house to buy one.
I have a wonderful paper gal. Been the same one for years now. I find my paper on my porch right in front of my door every morning by 5:00. Not sure what time she gets here, but that's when I wake up. I'd be frustrated too if I had to go outside to fetch my paper. I do tip her nicely for her good service. But it sure is getting expensive to get that daily paper. And it would really disrupt my morning routine if I didn't have it to page through and read each morning. Not to mention missing the crossword puzzle.
I'm not sure what the PP's official policy currently is, but in the mid 90's they made a big deal out of giving subscribers 'door step' delivery.
Ours is delivered to the porch and usually is right at the door. I do see that the delivery person puts some in newspaper tubes and brings some to the doors.........all on the same street. It's quite possible the rate for doorstep deliver is higher.
My Ex used to have a group of friends who would get together during the winter months for Game Night - usually on a Friday evening so it didn't conflict with too many weekend plans. The hosts would have a spread of basic munchies and maybe some cocktail weenies or sloppy joes. BYOB. Most every board game we tried to play ended up being Women vs Men.
We'd go October through April, and then in May we'd go to a Saints game tailgating. It was fun, but as kids and plans change it became harder to get together as a solid group. I think we had 6-7 families on the list so there was at least four that could show at any given night. Shouldn't be too much of a stretch for this group, but it does get a lot harder to do in the summer.

Try putting the paper in the husbands name for the deal and cancel under your name later.
cancel your current one...
call back 2mrw and start up a new one?
or just have a 2nd once delivered to same address...
