Ironically, I'm going through my old stack of floppy disks getting what information I can off of them before I toss the majority. Although, I might try and repurpose them somehow (although being in a basement for a while, they don't smell that great.

Hey, that brings up a good question. Does anyone know a good way of getting rid of that smell from just about any object? I have a lot of stuff I moved out and it all smells musty. I'd hate to toss out everything if there's a way to clean it.

What entity takes the satellite photos that are used in the various mapping programs such as Google maps and Mapquest? I see they did an update within the past week of my area where the new Target is going in along hwy 55.

How can I make it a default that when I open another tab within IE that it makes that tab active without needing to click on the page first? I can't stand when I open a tab and I click a favorite and it changes my first tab even though it's showing my newly opened tab. Drives me nuts!

1) down in the bottom right corner of the pictures on maps.google.com you can see the copyright statements.

2) switch to firefox

yeah I noticed they updated the satellite maps over most of the cities area to something taken within the last few months.

It's my understanding that the basic satellite photos are updated with high resolution, low level aircraft flyovers on a periodic basis. That's what they did after Katrina. You could see people stranded on the overpasses with water on both sided. That date my be the low level fly-over and not a new high level satellite photo.

'Pixel' is still singular, Cluey - a single dot.

Who changed the forum settings? Intead of number of posts it now says "NEW" in a yellow bubble. I liked being able to see how many posts were in each folder. That way I could skip it if I was in a hurry and there were many posts. :frown:

It was timvasi or one of those sysop guys: they said it speeded up the forum loading for all those folk with old PCs that were slow. I complained about the same thing a month or two ago.

I need to get a replacement AC adapter/power cord for my Toshiba laptop satellite L455D-S5976. (the cord is fraying where it connects to the plug) Toshiba wants $67 for a new cord, but there are many off brands available on amazon for $7-20. Most of the reviews seem good, but a few claim things like melted plastic and ruined computer batteries. Can I trust these off brand adapter cords or should I play it safe and fork over some dough? It just seems like alot of money since the laptop was only $250.

Do you need the cord that goes from the power brick to the wall or the power brick to computer end?

The power brick to the computer.

As long as the supply voltages are within tolerances, you should be safe with an off brand. However, don't go buying the cheapest possible one, as with all quality controls, you get what you pay for. (i.e. the cheapest ones will probably break easier than the original). If you go with something from say... targus or like a best buy rocketfish (store brand), you should be fine.

Thanks for the info... I've wrapped this one with electrical tape for now. But I know I'll need a replacement soon.
