2013 - Cherokee Heights Park

Wow, do people even use this board any more. Last year I'd have like 200 posts to wade my way through when getting home from the bar. Now my last smartass post from hours ago hasn't even cleared the past 50. WTF people? Do we have nothing left to talk about? Can't we noodle some clues, rip on Jake, antagonize the clue writer, maybe hash out more details on the plan to finally kill off ClueMaster. Come on, there's got to be something to talk about!

not really. Sadly, this board isn't used that much anymore. There are a few diehards left... but people have other ways of communicating now.

I had a total of 40 posts when I came on tonight an hour after clue time. It use to be 300+ a night to get through now it's nothing. This board seems to get used more in the off season than during the hunt.

"Take your honey for a ride" was part of a clue in the 2004 hunt when it was found at Phalen, the year of the green donut.

so two clues in a row that are basically the same as previous years...Crosby Reference, now Phalen?

I was going to say Phalen and Bald Eagle are the top two ice fishing lakes in Ramsey County...

Seems most of the convos have moved to Facebook...

But that Cluemaster plan has moved to assassins folder...

I like this interpretation!

Probably meaningless.... But I find it odd that the CW used semicolons in the last two lines. It would be simpler and more common to use a period. The semicolon would indicate a connection between those lines, that the bike riding and kid exercising are somehow related to what winter allows and summer forbids.

But maybe the CW just likes the way they look!

Good Morning!

This clue is one of those that could fit any park. I fell asleep last night and seeing the clue this morning, I believe getting sleep was a better option.

Taken at face value:

Walking your dog wouldn't necessarily mean dog park but a path like the ones around area lakes.

Jogging generally means a path.

One can park and sit in any park.

Ride a bike is another path clue.

Exercise the kids means a playground probably,

The last line could mean ice skating, hockey, building a snowman, sledding, and the like.

ThoseMedallingKids

Grab your honey could mean that the puck is a new honeycomb (hexagonal) shape?

ThoseMedallingKids

I'm thinking along the lines of Terry that this clue is telling us that it's a bigger park (surprise!) with paths for jogging/dogwalking/biking. Park and sit either refers to that you can park and sit on benches (more likely) or park and sit in your car at a scenic overlook (less likely). Winter allowing what summer forbids makes me think of being able to skate on a lake or stream, or go sledding. But it's so open-ended that who knows what the clue writers mean by it (last years clue meaning handicap parking).

Lilydale -- sw

bc -- se

TS -- nw

NE -- ??

The failed one did look like it wasn't round, even though it was messed up, the mold itself had a different shape.

Walk the dog is a yoyo skill. You can ice fish in winter, but not in summer.

"exercise the kids" is an odd expression,

Interesting idea... That would put it possibly in Bald Eagle... or somewhere around white bear lake anyway.

What if this meant ice fishing. At Como, there is no boat access, but when the lake is frozen, all you need is to walk out and auger a hole? That was what I was thinking.

I wonder if the last line might mean something like a little island in the lake. In winter you can walk to it but in summer there would be no access. It could also just mean something generic like "ice". The red herring could be making you think it's a winter activity by mentioning activities in all of the other lines. Another thing that winter allows that summer doesn't is the constellation Orion. I can't relate that to any park though.

aaah similar to what I was just gonna post.... I was thinking maybe the medallion was attached to a chunck of honeycomb that was sticky when stuck to it.

Ok, another noodle I have. Obviously this work session is going so slow. Thank god I have a laptop to pass the time.

Take a look at the map capture. This seems like it could be a good hint towards crosby.

  • Minnehaha across from Crosby as the animal reference.
  • Coldspring water (possibly a tie in what the what winter allows-ice/freezing)
  • look over the "bluffs", the river should have some ice?
  • Honey-Elise? as the entrance, or like my previous post.

Grab your Honey: Valentine's Day. Which is a theme in Holiday Inn movie (Conway area). The movie had a "seasonal theme." The original intent of Irwing Berlin was to make movie around American Holidays, but Holiday Inn was the result, where several holiday themes are set in the movie. The same set was used years later for White Christmas, also with Bing Crosby; but that puts it back into Crosby park.

There is a 1942 Conway Street 157 feet from Conway Park.

But that is way trying to fit clues to park. I have many memories of the past Conway Hunt.

I took that photo of Princess Diana when her exhibit was at Mall of America; I wrote a story about the exhibit, and that it was feet away from Hooters. Mall didn't like that too much. But it was a great exhibit.
