I ran into the same problem when I renewed this morning. I changed the # of messages an few times and then made sure I clicked the All icon, next to Prev, Next etc. It finally seemed to correct itself.

Is anyone noticing the use of "4" in each clue.

Clue 1 and 2- 8 lines each, broke up into 4 sentences. Clues 3-6 4 sentences each as well. The line where its been brought up "four won some glory".

Why the use of 4?? Are they trying to point us to Phalen from 2004, or are we getting number hints in these clues that are a coordinate?

Just thinking outside the box

Along those same lines..today's clue has foresee, which could be taken as 4C. My thoughts about 4 C's could be diamond, for the color, cut, clarity and carat. Maybe something diamond-shaped or a ball diamond.

you know when I read that inital article about Todd who designed it, I thought a diamond shape would be a good first "change" to the medallion.

Wish it was a real diamond, now that would be a find :pbpt:

Wow, I slept until 9:00 this morning! I haven't done that since I was about 18.

Pretty quiet in here overnight. I hope you're all out digging.

I like the idea of a diamond shaped medallion and what it might imply.

I went back and looked at the article about the maker of the new medallion this year. He's a jewelry maker by trade and here's a clipping from the article:

"He used the design of the previous medallion as a starting point but decided to change the shape and float a wintry design element within it.

'I wanted to make it a little different,' he said. He hopes to make a unique medallion for the hunt each year going forward.

While he's satisfied with the final product, he said, he admitted one regret.

"I probably could do a better one if it was a REAL JEWEL," he said."

I saw how he was making it... I'm kind of interested in making something like it myself, I haven't worked with Resin much, but I bet I could make something pretty cool.

Oh and as much as I'd like to think the press will let the finder keep the medallion, I'm guessing/betting they just give it away in a drawing during next year's hunt.

There's almost too many Crosby clues at this point. If it is there shouldn't they start narrowing it down? Or, is it just park, park, park, park, or is it all a red herring?
Fri, 01/25/2013 - 8:18 AM Permalink
Terry

I vote for red herring.

K.I.S.S. or OCCAM'S RAZOR.

...the principle of parsimony, economy, or succinctness ...

10:30 -- I'm off to the hunt at crosby.

Maybe crashed ice later in the day.

Why would they want to narrow down in the park? Once we're in the park it will be found in no time... :goofy:

red herrings are for one or possibly two clues to throw you off. This many things, 3 songs in 6 clues, 50% or more, cant be "A" red herring. If it is, well...Im just totally wrong then.

I still think it is at Crosby. The winter permits thing had me there and unless someone comes up with something super awesome that we all missed, I'm staying.

(Tim still isn't sold and he had a good anagram today giving more evidence for Harriet. So, I guess Harriet would be number 2 for me.)

What about Bark On A Tree for BOAT. It kind of bugs me that the bark at Crosby wasn't on the tree, it was on the ground.

Pink Floyd song "Time"?
Fri, 01/25/2013 - 9:43 AM Permalink
queenmalley

Time by Pink FLoyd. Just the beginning lyrics; note the "home town" reference.

Ticking away the moments

That make up a dull day

Fritter and waste the hours

In an off-hand way

Kicking around on a piece of ground

In your home town

Waiting for someone or something

To show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine

Staying home to watch the rain

You are young and life is long

And there is time to kill today

And then the one day you find

Ten years have got behind you

No one told you when to run

You missed the starting gun

(Solo)

And you run and you run

To catch up with the sun

But it's sinking

Racing around

To come up behind you again

Jake bet me last night it was in Crosby. I wonder if I were to call the paper and tell them that, and it really was in Crosby, that they would then move it to a different park for me?
