Pre-Dig Gig, Rehash Bash and other Cooler events

:grin: Last nights PDG was so much fun! All the darlin's had a BLAST!! Thanks to all who made it happen :grin:

We loved the pasta bar - I thought it was going to just be a buffet but was pleasantly surprised that you got to choose your own ingredients and the chef sauteed each individual order. The red sauce was fantasic. I also liked how much space we had.

We loved the pasta bar too! I guess they do that on Wednesday nights each week. We plan on doing that now and again.

If we do want to do Joseph's again next year we can. The biggest obstacle right now is knowing what date to reserve. It could be the 18th, but I wouldn't be surprised if it jumps back to the 25th next year.

We want to do this again next year. At least that's my vote. Could the PP or the Winter Carnival folks give us dates for next year yet? The hunt always starts the week before the official start of the Carnival.

And did we do enough food and drink to cover the cost?

It wasn't a matter of covering the costs. There was just the question of meeting the minimum. I don't know what the bar tab came out to be, but the pasta bar alone exceeded the minimum and between food and drink, I suspect we more than doubled the minimum.

AW great job with the PDG :smile: My family had a blast!! I really liked it at Josephs. It was really cozy and the food was amazing.

I know they closed the party room at 12:30 but I think that had more to do with wanting to have time to clean it up afterwards and still being able to get home at a reasonable time. We could have stayed at the regular bar until 1 and he hinted we could stay even longer, so that's certainly a possibility.

I thought that it was a great time and the pasta bar was really good. Perfect amount of space and they had some decent beers on tap. I would vote for Joseph's again next year.

Are there any pictures? Did no one take pictures? Not likely. :smile:

Allison, the vast majority of folks on Facebook also thought Joseph's was a great place to have this. If the date for next year can be figured out, we need a reservation for next year.

I agree - food was more than I expected as well.

I also thought the music volume was at a decent level.

I was overall pleasantly surprised.

Last year the problem was they wouldn't rent the building at Newell to us because it was such short notice. They want at least 7 days. I think we should go ahead and reserve it for a week from Sunday. Then if it does get found early, we could probably cancel the reservation, but we definitely won't be able to rent it for this Sunday regardless.

There has been a year or two in the past 15 years that the Super Bowl was not the same day as the RHB.

It does when your super bowl party is in pelican rapids.

maybe next year they won't coincide.

I don't know if they would ever change the Superbowl to a Saturday because they usually play the games on Sunday in the regular season. However, if you want to start a petition, I will get the glow in the dark paint and the beef sticks :wink:

The Newell building is now reserved for Sunday, February 3rd from 11am to 2pm. The cost was $150.

why do we do it on sunday again??? I cant remember why.

As I recall it had something to do with the Vulcan Victory Dance. People didn't want to do the Rehash in the afternoon and then the Winter Carnival stuff right afterwards. It didn't strike me as the most logical thing personally but I recall a lot of people against it felt strongly about it and the people for it were more ambivalent so it stayed on the Sunday.

I thought a couple times we pushed it off to a week later - or is that too late?

We never pushed it back. Always on the Sunday after the hunt.

The time was 11:30 for the first one because that was when the clues came out - but we didn't want to picnic in the dark so we made it am instead of pm.

The discussion has happened many times around Saturday vs Sunday. Saturday was a chance for people to clean up, get groceries, make food for the rehash. That made Sunday the preferred day.

The VVD became more popular a few years ago and wasn't originally part of the discussion.

Newell because we reserved the building there and it's cheaper than other places we could rent.

We had to be out last year at Tony Schmidt and it was cold just hanging around.

I think RedBear is doing that gig again this year. I would think you could just bring what you want on Sunday.
