Just returned from Crosby. I had never been to that park before (I was living the dream in Park City, Utah in '05.) and wanted to get the lay of the land. Just after parking my car, I bumped into Jake and Brass. We chatted a bit, then I drove up top to the Shephard Road entrance, did a bit of scouting, then came home.
As Jake put it, "It's 800 acres of trees and more trees." UGH! Not my thing to be wandering the woods alone today. Dad's busy and I have homework to do. If anyone finds the puck on what we currently have to go on, more power to them. I don't have that kind of luck:-(
As for the clues, I now understand why they seem to only mention the park and not within the park. Once inside the park, there's not much to say except "X marks the spot next to X tree." Oh and parking is going to be a nightmare! How did they handle that during the last hunt? I remember Lilydale and what a mess that was to park or even drive down that road.
There was more parking last time... the road used to extend more with a turn around and more parking spaces. Who the hell says let's improve things and reduce the parking?
Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the fact you can anagram 'you forsee' to 'eye of euros'....eye of the east wind? If we are in Crosby, I think we should we be looking across the river for landmarks since there are basically none in the park. Just a thought, cheers and good luck to all!
So ventured down to Crosby with the kids earlier today. Once we were departing the lot was FULL! I have to say I am disheartened by the trails, that is VERY dangerous to walk on, especially at night. So after taking some photos, poking around, and one dramatic child who fell slightly and was done, we called it for the day.
With 106 acres, I get the feeling they are pointing us to Crosby but not actually in the park, but possibly its sitting outside of the park? I am probably wrong and somehow the CW will be able to tell us how to tell one fallen tree from another. :goofy: All I know, I need more if I am going back in there, thats just too much to walk around on a guess!
I did get some good photos but they won't let me attach, too large :frown: I did post one on FB though!
The worst problem with crosby I have is the sheer size of it. And the lack of landmarks to get you to a certain spot. Other than if you pick out stairs, a very obscure sign, the lair, one of the lakes. Unless they start narrowing it down, it's going to go really close if not to the final clue.
But, I'm still waiting for the Monday night clue that says "Hey idiots, you're all in the wrong park".
You know, my heart is not set on Crosby, but what if a Famous Holiday pair are 2 holiday gas stations visable from the park? Going off your Holiday Station idea.
I guess my instinct is this: they've use Bing Crosby to indicate the medallion being at Crosby. Why would they do that again, possibly twice? The writers are far more creative and intelligent than this. (one would hope) I see these clues working better for HI, or Vento at this point, but for them to fit Crosby just seems random, vague, and deliberately deceptive.
Hi KT, nice to see you again. I came across some maps of Malarkey Park a few weeks ago and now here you are.
But to answer your question, I tend to agree with you. I think it is at Harriet and that they are making an all out effort to fool people into thinking it is at Crosby. I had some doubts about that yesterday, but I'm feeling pretty confident today. I'm not sure if they will break the deadlock tonight or try to keep up this masquerade until clue 11.
The weather isn't going to cooperate tomorrow :frown: Freezing rain is supposed to start late morning, then some snow in the evening. Get out there early!
You still have the map? Too funny. maybe I'll see you about tomorrow- I suppose it depends upon whether tonight's clue scatters everyone to the four winds.
I was all about Crosby yesterday (reference my Crosby summary post), but today am leaning more towards a downtown park. Cherokee perhaps. I think Clue 7 fits it really well, but Clues 1-6 aren't quite as obvious.
But then again Clues 1-6 aren't obvious for any park except Crosby.
By the way, the fake posts on twincities.com about the medallion being found is a big part of the reason I decided to shell out my 10 bucks this year and join a serious discussion board. Some comedian does that crap every year. Harrumph!
There is debate about lowering the sales tax a lil over 1 percent.
But I think it just may be a odd line the 1 percent just to tell us, only one person may claim the prize, they days of making new friends to get an extra 5K are over.
We were down at HI for awhile. Saw a few other hunters but no one we knew. We then decided to make a run to Menards for ice choppers. The snow is icy and the great lawn is under ice throughout quite a bit of it. Our old ice choppers bit the dust a couple years ago and haven't had any reason to replace them until now.
I'm tending to think the medallion is closer to the west side of the park nearer the Yacht Club where the larger trees stand.
We also took a ride up to Cherokee where no one was hunting and then over to Mounds - just because I love that park. There was no one hunting there either.
I know the majority are at Crosby, but if it's there, I'm not.
We did see some cars that appeared to be doing drive throughs at HI. At Cherokee I wanted to verify the 1 could be seen - and it can be but mostly from the area closer to the high bridge - not so much from the portion with the playground and rest rooms.
I'm heading to Gabe's to get there maybe 10-ish. Got Monday Thru Wednesday off to hunt if needed. Should I bring firewood for the firepit, or is there enough scrap out at the park to burn?
I just left Gabe's about 15 minutes ago -- Met Dad and Emily for dinner earlier. Figured if I saw anyone I knew, I'd hang around, but did a quick walk around and didn't catch sight of anybody :frown:.

Holiday Pair and Ups and Downs = Upper and Lower Afton and Holiday Station at corner of Lower Afton and Mcknight.
Schooled in time = Century Ave (East side of park. This section off a portion of the park.)
walk your dog = Off leash dog area near the Holiday Station area of the park.
Ride a bike = Mountain Bike Trails
Winter Allows/Summer Forbids - 2 Cross country ski trails in the park.
Excersice the kids = Playground, Water Park, Sledding Hill
Honey/Park and Sit = Scenic Overlook Drive in Northern part of park.
"Dont fence me in" = Correctional facility right next to park.
Still working on the others.
I guess Indian Mounds would work better. Burns, closer to crushed ice event. I don't know.
I've lost my whatchamacallit, if you see it, give me a ding dong.

I'll laugh if they put it in a Bing Crosby CD.
Holday Pair - there is a Holiday gas station on both sides of the park.
The gobble in refrence to Thanksgiving
Don't Fence me in was inducted into the grammy hall of fame the same year the medallion was hidden in Cherokee.
The Crushed Rice refrence, it being visable to the Red Bull Crashed Ice event.
And Cherokee sits on the St Paul/West St Paul boarder.
We were told that a song won't make a park name as easy (Clue 2).
Wheel of Fortune could refrence to Casino Games.
But I think it just may be a odd line the 1 percent just to tell us, only one person may claim the prize, they days of making new friends to get an extra 5K are over.

I'm liking your Harriet Island ideas, as I'm still not sold on Crosby.

Two hours before we get another clue to unscramble These one clue a day hunts are torture!
Now I'm wondering if I *should* head back out for a bit. Could hang at Gabes for a bit, and hit the grocery store on the way home....
