A beloved gathering place that had been neglected for decades, Harriet Island has undergone a complete transformation. The Riverfront Corporation led an effort to accelerate the parkÂ’s redevelopment schedule from fifteen years to two.
The first $14.5 million redevelopment phase was completed in 2001, funded by the State of Minnesota, corporations, foundations, individual donors and the City of Saint Paul. The Riverfront Corporation also conducted a very successful Buy-A-Brick program. More than 3,000 community members invested in the effort, purchasing bricks and markers, which were inscribed and personalized. The Buy-A-Brick program funded paved plazas, walkways and other improvements.
Acorn Park? "Down under" = Australian Ave near there; found in previous year; Rice street (yellow mashed rice); outer limits (far away); Ramsey County. But then, nothing else fits at all.
When I look up "Downtowner car wash," it's located near Payne Ave (need a doc, don't bruise your buns), and it's at the southern tip of Swede Hollow. ???
Don't bruise your buns= 'don't slip'- near but not in the boat area. Down under there's ice= wabasha bridge? Maybe it's on the east end of harriet, near the boat club, under the bridge?
But I really think the equal rights has to do with Wigingham and clue 8 really points to Harriet. I just have PTSD when I was convinced it was at Harriet and my son and I were there with hundreds of others and the last clue put it in Como. The med hasn't been at Harriet since. I have to admit I am surprised it is at Harriet for the fact people don't use their heads when digging and wreck stuff. But recently the puck was at Indian Mounds, which many of us thought the CW wouldn't do.
Back from the park. This sounds dumb, but having dug in the wrong park every now and then over the years, I feel like being in the right park is the win. Lots of ice. Snow is limited but we did see some folks digging up the snow piles from shoveling/plowing.
I am tending to favor the west end by the Yacht Club. It has the anchor, the big old cottonwood, a small play area for kids, and just in case the hider thought a woodsy area would be a good hiding place, there is one of those too.
We went down this morning without breakfast so we decided to take a break and have some breakfast/lunch.
We saw Rob, Steve, TMK, Conrad but not as many as I thought would be down there.
We'll see what the freezing rain brings and perhaps we'll be back down there later.
I remember being in Harriet when the zoo clue came out, watching the exodus. I was ranting- "But Harriet *had* a ZOO!" I didn't consider Crosby, the clues seemed too easy/cheezy for it to be there. Now, as I consider them as they fit Harriet, I'm thinking they look too easy and obvious for there, too. Could we be in for another exodus?
Yes, but that may be "fitting the clues into the park." However, the reprise of all signs pointing to Harriet and then it being Como, what a great time the CW would have! and I did think "Calling a doctor will help you tons" as DOCTOR Seuss. The red herring may be Dr. Osage of Harriet fame. But remember, THIS is the first time the name COMO has been posted by me!! I have a habit of bringing up Como at every hunt. Well, except for when I thought it was at Harriet and it was at Como!!
Not sure about you East Siders, but down here in Chaska there is a HARD icy shell being formed over everything!!! Now, add the fresh snow that will cover this, and I think the hunting could get pretty tough. Good luck to all of you still out there.
What I know is, the Bruve Vento Trail Starts at 7th and Payne. It runs behind Payne a little, its filled with Cottenwood Trees. Vento has ryme with Veto, which now is a political twist. Metrostate is like one block away from the Trail Start. The CW sent everyone to Crosby, and now they are all at HI. Right now my money is on the HI/Cherokee area but I would also have no problem puting down a last minute wager on the Vento Trail.
"That wasn't the first or the last time that extra adventure attached itself to the hunt. One year, the treasure medallion was merely plopped into a snow bank along Shepard Road, and was nearly incinerated in a bonfire set by three hobos."
This does make me think back to "Think out of the box", refering to Donald H. "Box" Boxmeyer.
It's been at Harriet like 3 or 4 times though. I think 96 was the last and I think 60 the first. I think the shift is just back into St Paul. Generally there's always a clue that says it's in St Paul or it's outside St Paul.
Don't fence me in was about going west to the Cottonwoods. I wonder if we should go to the west end of the park or if it's hinting at the West Side, or if it means absolutely nothing and I'm starting to really over think the clues.
harriet tubman had nothing to do with the ERA

Harriet is a nice dig area.

But on the other hand, would you say a Chestnut would be considered a pair, or not from the song "Chestnuts Roasting over a open fire"
Remember to be safe. $10,000 won't go far paying medical bills or car repairs.
From: In Search Of Winters Holy Grail. "Box"'s article, may he rest in peace.
