I just happened upon that park Saturday. It could be but I have my doubts. It looked pretty small. I didn't get out and walk it, mind you, I did a drive by as I was lost with all the road closings.
I took tomorrow off so might as well continue this, but in the morning. Perhaps something with all the rhyming words through 9 clues (CRAZY!) or enough rethinking to get us to where this CRAZY clue writer is sending us.
Just saying I do not like bruce vento sanvtuary at all! Was just diwn there. thinking about Crosby and Harriet island again. The BO 80 reference in love quiz keeps me in 1 of those 2 parts I was going to look at Sam or that Morgan character guy and I know that you're talking about I'm so I would look at what you guys are staying in figure out if that works um that's all
When someone first came up with "anchors away" all I could think of was the Anchor paper company. And now with a heavenly view, does this mean that you have to be able to see the Anchor Paper Company and the Mission Gospel Church from the hiding spot down there?
You can park either at the lot on Payne and 7th and walk down or there is a lot you can access either from 4th from downtown or from Commerce off Mounds. Though last time I was down there the 4th street entrance was closed for the Lafayette Bridge construction.
What I don't like about Vento Sanctuary is 1) it's a big park with very few landmarks (aka Crosby). If you're going to hide it there you got to tell us soon if you ever want us to find where it is in the park. And 2) there's too many things (kids exercise, winter only activity, nature taking away mans frills, etc) that don't fit that park at all.
I disagree, I think the Sanctuary has a lot of landmarks. Been in that park way too much to be proud of (past couple hunts), and there is a lot of reference points and hidden little things to work off of.
I'd have to disagree on the nature taking away mans frills.
That's entirely what happened in that park area. The railroads used that land and eventually it was abandoned, you can still see evidence of "man's frills" by looking at an aerial shot of the park, all those strips of sidewalk that used to be rail lines, the old lowertown depot building, etc.
That said, I do agree that I don't feel like it's in the sanctuary.
This is kind of a weird idea. Were there any places that might have been associated with places men like to go that were knocked down over there recently? Like Hardware stores, bars, massage parlors? That could be nature taking away a man's frills.
No, your right (assuming we have the right park this time). That's exactly what taking way mans frills is. It's all the old rail yard ruins (the depot building and long concrete platforms are still there) that are being taken over again by nature. And the old depot building is fenced in so vandals don't get in. You can see Crashed Ice, the 1st national bank building, the Downtowner, the Holiday station (just where's the other holiday?). I'm starting to get sold on this. Well, at least till the next clue talking about the Frog Pond.
I was just at the Vento Overlook at Cherokee. There's a sign as you walk up to the dropoffs that says "Bruce Vento" right on it. There's a few older fences in the dropoffs as well. Two smaller ones I saw and this larger and older white one, which I think the clue might be referring to. There's a little path down the slopes with a small river at the bottom which might relate to "Down under there's ice; don't bruise your buns". Although I'm not sure if it would be hidden down the slopes because it would be dangerous for a lot of people to climb back up once you get down there. I decided to leave because of the ridiculous amounts of snow making it very hard to search. It's also really hard to see where people have already searched since the snow covered all that up. I think this hunt might go to Clue 12.
You know there's ice climbing down under that Overlook.
In any case, I'm still trying to figure out Wheel of Fortune, Bark on a Tree, and Holiday Pair for any of the three Bruce locations.
Pat, Sajac, Vanna, White, game show, BOAT, Christmas decorations nearby, are all thoughts I'm having. Mt Spidey sense tells me that Wheel and Holiday are going to have to be things I see, which I can't do from here.
There is a concrete Bruce Vento overlook right next to the high bridge (east of Smith Street)that easily overlooks Harriet Island Park. It's separate from Lilydale and Cherokee, and has nothing to do with the Trail by Swede Hollow. You can see IT from Harriet Island as well.
-"Study his path the best that you can."
Another play on words, perhaps? 'his path' could be anagrammed 'H.I. Paths'
I'm clueless and in the dark.
Goodnight and SCDs!
Take a good look at the previous clues (before 9), there is a huge smoking gun that I haven't seen anybody talk about publicly.
BRUISE = Bruce
Clue 7 ‘s words were bent, percent, go, snow. Rhyme two of the different words together. Like, Bent-go.
Vent-o.
buns- baker st
page- call the doctor
down under- sidney st
Ramsey line
also-- council would fit here, that has bugged me since the beginning
There is also sledding hill - can't do that in the summer. A council could have a Chair person. Chair-O-Key?
stupid liberals....

Good Noodle!!!!!
Then the Bruce Vento overlook at Cherokee - http://www.nps.gov/miss/planyourvisit/ventooverlook.htm
Somehow or another, the clues fit this whole area so well.
So what if this last clue is simply telling us to consider the Vento path without telling us to be on it?

Go from a sign with a "2" (the go) to a "1" (the money)?
