Odd how when the hunt is over, there is a feeling of disappointment, being strangely glad it's over, sadness that it's time to get back to your real life, and already looking forward to next year.
I like this board...I think maybe even more now that it's a bit quieter here. I feel more free to say stuff (introvert here). And there isn't as much slogging through a bunch of chit-chat like there used to be. This is a nice place for noodling! And I like you guys!
I hope this forum is still here next year. I had more of an chance to contribute this year and will miss the idea exchange if the forum is gone. I vote for another year! Where else can I go crab about the crap clues!
I've never seen them share that kind of video before, interesting. Seems like there was a lot of snow when they hid it, was there really that much snow on the ground 11 days ago...?
I am too upset with these clues. Im surprised he didn't throw in a red harring of the everyone poops book for bull shit happens to send everyone to Como.
Well, it was an interesting hunt. I've only been doing it seriously since just last year....so I can't really say how good or bad it was; although, I must say it was definitely frustrating going around to so many different parks! lol Maybe that's just me being bad at the clues. I wasn't really close to finding it this year like I was last year though. I spent a lot of my time by the Tennis Courts and hadn't had a chance to get out today at all because of work. I know eventually my year will come, whether that be the next year or 20 years from now...I WILL find it someday.
Thanks for all the help with the clues this year from whoever contributed and I will see you all next year for another
So catch me up to speed people, so was there realy a peice of the medallion missing, or was it made that way?
This is proof that dumb asses shouldn't hunt....I mean its not like baloons and confetti falls from the sky as soon as you find it...if its broke, it means that obviosuly someone tried to dig or pick there....
Tom - the medallion was constructed of a resin that's not terribly durable. It's pretty obvious this model was a one-off puck that's not meant for another hunt. The cover under the 3 inches of fresh snow was mostly 1-2 inches of hard pack ice. Nobody out there that knows how to dig is gonna be delicate breaking up acres of frozen tundra. They buried it in a 'ball' of natural matter in a natural depression in the ground and covered it with a healthy layer of snow. Nobody would have any idea that wasn't the same frozen crust we were banging thru all night long. The puck was struck and chipped in four different places on the front and back, so more than likely multiple picks or shovels hit it through the night and had no idea.
When I showed my husband Mikey's photo, he said "I think I was standing on it". I said "I think so too." I was digging behind the fence and he came over to talk to me.
By the way, there were at least 3 trees I found with fence growing in them - along the bluff's edge in the southern part of the park.
Oof. These explanations are maddening! I don't think it's clever or sneaky to put in a red herring ("Happy Holidays") that really has no meaning. I know there's the song/wrong rhyme in the first stanza but I still think it's bogus. Red herrings cause hunters to question every word of every line and wonder if it really has meaning or not. Which, to me, is NOT FUN and is just frustrating! I think I'll write to the PP to detail my dissatisfaction with the explanations. The teeter totter/ clever-level/ clue is completely nuts. I don't know if anyone managed to figure that one out... and if not, that's the sign of a bad clue!
Yes, the main point I'm comming across is people do not take their time. If you pick a spot to dig, you need to examine everything that you come across. I learned this lesson when I found the dead racoon that ate the donought.
This board will be here next year. No doubt about that. I am saddened that people don't find it worth $10 for a year's worth of connecting with each other.
For those of you who are only here during the hunt, I would like to invite you to check in off and on during the year. Allison's mock hunt is coming up starting March 2nd. There are other mock hunts and hunts that various communities do during the year. You can always check on www.coolercrew.com as the information regarding these other hunts is often posted on the front page there.
Or just hang around, check in and we can all get to know each other in areas not of a hunt nature.
Hi folks, so I have some questions about the ReHash bash. I would like to know whom I would speak to about donating some items for the drawings. Also, Riddlin and I will be donating the winners cake again this year. My apologies that I wasn't able to last year but as some of you may know: I was very ill for the last 2 yrs. And just recnetly got my huntin' boots on! Thus, if someone could give me a head count so we have an idea of the size that would be great! Feel free to email me directly or call me, whomever is running it this year @ watsonbilliejo@yahoo.com or 715-410-7132. If anything is needed or perhaps set up, let us know we would love to come and help. Thank you so much for your friendship this hunt and we actually would love to get to know some of you throughout the year, be it mock hunts, or one of our fun-filled BBQ contests.
I just hope we get a new clue writer.

I wouldnt worry about the PP. If they posted them on the internet Id say its fair use
Did you get that pic I emailed? Had trouble sending it for some reason. I resent it.
Because I think the Clue Writer knows damn well where we hang out and pays to be on this board and monitors us.
If I was the CW I would. Only human nature.
