2015 - Snail Lake

Went and did a little scouting this evening. I was confused, I was thinking Snail Lake was over near 96 & Rice, but that's actually Sucker Lake. I could see a hunt being good in that area, like the first Crosby hunt. The clues don't seem to fit that well there. There's also a section of Snail Lake that is just down Mackubin, where you have to go up a hill to get to the parking lot, I think that overlooks grass lake. Like it for being high, but it is a few blocks away from the 'place to play' so doesn't fit well. Also, really like the Dudley Do Right noodle, that fits well with Snail, but not so much with Sucker. So, who knows, I'll probably be at Keller or Highland tomorrow! From a positive standpoint, my office is literally like 3 blocks from Snail Lake, at Country Rd F and Lex.

If it is at Snail Lake, I will like that much better too as I live in the northern boonies and would like to spend more time digging and less time driving and refueling.

There is a playground right at Snail Lake Pavilion. We tried it tonight.

Mikey -- I do know what you're talking but I can't find anything on the tc.com site. Something happened where a pipe broke, or water supply was contaminated - something with the lake.

Yeah, I went by that area too. Not sure if you came across this tonight, but I was kind of liking this area a little bit, seems to be lots of trails and woods in this part of the park. Are there lots of woods in the area by the pavilion and playground?

On another note, the comfy couch could be a place to take a load off after a long day of hunting. If it's here, I'm sure the couch will become a main character!

Maybe tonight's clue will pinpoint or eliminate Vadnais area. At least I have learned how to spell it and got some interesting history out of it.

I have another very early morning and nothing here is standing out to me that wouldn't need to be fully unscrambled.

I am off to bed.

Goodnight, happy hunting and SCDs.

Gaffe: a social or diplomatic blunder

: a noticeable mistake

Kind of an old fashioned term.

People separate wheat from chaff

"avoid a gaffe"

Persistence and sleuth for willingness of truth?

CHAFF

1: the seed coverings and other debris separated from the seed in threshing grain

2: something comparatively worthless

3: the scales borne on the receptacle among the florets in the heads of many composite plants

4: material (as strips of foil or clusters of fine wires) ejected into the air for reflecting radar waves (as for confusing an enemy's radar detection)

I have words left over, but came up with this:

persistence for truth

takes willingness to sleuth

avoid a gaffe of wheat and chaff

look in the land of lakes and grain

MrsMGhunter

Well land of lakes is defintely snail lake area- plenty of bodies of water. Dang........45 min drive
Wed, 01/21/2015 - 9:02 PM Permalink
GreenTeam

Persistence it takes in this land of lakes

And a willingness to sleuth

Wheat and chaff, avoid that gaffe

And look for the grain of truth

Land o Lakes is kinda far away from Snail Lake, and further from Sucker Lake, maybe it's saying stay on the Shoreview side of Rice Street, which would put us back in Snail Lake.

A friend and I were at SL until 11:00 or so tonight. Only a few others. Police drove through the lot at around 10:15 while we were waiting for the scrambled clue, but didn't give us any trouble. Surprised to be the only ones out there, but it's early. Didn't move any snow, just walked the trails and made observations.

Lots of ground to cover out there.

Sleuth often refers to detective work; and spy was an earlier clue word.

If you're thinking SL, sleuth reminds me of the Nancy Drew books, The Mystery at Lilac Inn. It was the 4th book in the series. E W street Lilac Lane.
