The first, white man, recorded tornado was Fort Snelling, 1883. Hidden Falls was the reserve, for the fort, to graze cattle and cut firewood. Joseph Brown ( editor and publisher of Minnesota Pioneer) and James Goodhue tried to establish the first settlement there. All groups would of hitched their horses, to drink whiskey. Junction, Minnesota and Mississippi rivers. Ticket to ride, first steamboat landing.

Sorry for my posts, I can't delete them. I think you guys are on the Brighter track. Are there any pine trees there? Pitch could be a good clue.

Don’t worry about it. There’s a technical reason why you can’t delete posts right now because it deletes the reply history as well and that’s not a good thing.

Baby it's cold outside. In my 30's even 40's I would'nt be scared of the cold now I am. Diabetes amd a cold hans and feet are scarey! I have been wanting this park for years. Now it's here and my hunting is limited.

Sorry you are both suffering with limitations! I am too and have been for several years. Last time I was out hunting was at Snail Lake. I send hubby out when we have a good idea of where to look. Noodling is fun, though!

St. Paul schools are closed. I am guessing Mpls. schools will close as well.

With the new snow, the park will look like nothing was dug up.  I was sort of hoping this hunt would have concluded today...but it is exciting to go full 12.  Just worried about the cold coming and how many dingbats will venture out and freeze.  Roads will be a mess.  Be careful if you venture out.

Has anyone looked in the area between Mounds Ave.( another definition for tell: mound) and Mustang Dr. (colts)? On the map, it looks like a  90 degree (angle).

You’re viewing quite the sight.

Don’t go near track, path is best tack.

This veined take’s a lowly sleight.

seems we are to tack our way to the prize. In otherwards, take a zig zag track into the prevailing winds.  Also connection with angles and the two streets mentioned.

not so small of a park in person.

We spent the majority of the day yesterday, pre-snow, in the southern portion of the park angling near hipp circle area and there is a ton space. Exclude all spaces on the rr side of the trail, as that is not park property, and still we could have spent another full day and still not searched 10% of the searchable area.  Its in LL and it is now buried under fresh snow and old tracks. Lots and lots of loose pieces of bark laying around. I suspect one piece is coupled with the puck.

He beach lot is half full. Most folks are digging along the path headed toward the boat launch. Should be fun seeing as the high temp for the next two days is right now at minus 8.  Stay safe and warm.

I have solved the icy breath/condensation problem by wearing two types of neck gaitors. The lower one over my neck and mouth made out of a close knit & absorbent polypropylene. The upper one over my cheeks and nose made out of a more breathable fleece. The lower one absorbs the moisture. The upper one gives warmth and wind coverage

We missed seeing you at the Pre-Dig Gig.  Hope we see you on Sunday for the Rehash Bash!

The closest we got to getting out there was on Sunday, but hubby's truck wouldn't start. Well, it was armchair hunting this year, but it was still fun to noodle and follow the hunt with everyone!
