2 years ago at Conway I tore up a line from 1st base to home plate, then I realized that it would probably be just off of the line if it was there because of the year it was on the 50 yd line of a FB field. It turned up too quick I thought. They could of made it go one more clue with a field that size. I like the baseball thing.
fettle = 1. a. Proper or sound condition. b. Mental or emotional state; spirits: “was in fine fettle.†2. Metallurgy Loose sand or ore used to line the hearth of a reverberatory furnace in preparation for pouring molten metal.
Clue - I know you do. Per our previous message yesterday, sounds like it hurt big time (Merriam Park did it for me in '99 because of the book reference that I mistook for MERRIAM WEBSTER dictionary writer. It meant RUTH at Conway).
V - My back still hurts. I remember talking with you now. I just don't want anybody to get hurt is all:(
I did learn a valuable lesson though. To calm down and use what little brain cells I have left to save me time (and pain) in the long run. MLK was right at the height of my 'physical' searching career.
WG - Been there / done that again, again, again & again. Still do on occasion. Kinda getting that old feeling again this year because of the crew from New York filming my adventures. I always dig my ass off every year (except last year) but my ass just keeps falling off sooner and sooner is all. 20 years and 50 pounds later. Whew!
oh man...this is huge...remember someones anagram of ALAS BOAT?
check this out from the 12/1/00 star trib
There may be a new act in the saga of the University of Minnesota Centennial Showboat, which almost was ready to reopen near Harriet Island on the St. Paul riverfront until fire destroyed the 101-year- old boat during a major reconstruction last winter.
The Mardi Gras thing tonight was kinda fun. It was good because it made a lot of the searchers stay together before the paper came out watching the Klondike Kate's throw beads and Mardi Gras stuff all over.
They also gave a trip away, right on the spot, to anywhere Sun Country flys. Better than freezing my butt off outside the PP.
ala boats = as in boats
bats a solo...hmmm first base of a ball field?
WG - Nice Boat idea
I've been up there and you can see forever. This is a chance. Where is ala boats coming from weim guy?
clues 1 and 3 spelled something
i'm working on the first letters of clue 5 (1,3,5,7)
I really think there is alot there. One fall back is parking during the week sucks.
WG - S used twice in 241
Hey Allison, you sure called the park first this year!!! how's that game of Everquest going?
ok....
bat a solo
MC - You and A still thinking VRC? Space?
Sorry WG - A bit anal is all
I see what you were saying weim guy nice thinking.
think i have to abandon harriet unless they put a ball field there.
with the base reference and the BAT A SOLO there's a ballfield
most homeruns go to left field. if solo means one run...it's in left field. if solo means first base...then it's there
What about alot of space refering the Saturn being in outter space? (I must be getting really tired!)
There's a great anagram engine at this URL;
http://www.wordsmith.org/anagram/
Just put in the letters, and it works magic. Gives you all possible words and word combinations.
oops...most runs go to right field...find a ballfield where right field is east or west...
hmmm...plus a nice hidden double entendre...out in left field would be the wrong place.
alas boat works also

move off base...bat a solo...maybe where a runner would stand if he were trying to steal second
Thanks Dick for the link - Unfortunately it didn't come up with the words that WG did.
WG - You should try and play Big Blue in chess? :)
I like the baseball theory too. It's the most obvious reference the clue could have, but I think it's probably the right one.
Makes for a tough hunt if the treasure is not next to a landmark. Baseball field works well for that.
I was on the home to third baseline at Conway...An awesome hunt.
never learned chess....always wanted to...
dang...i wanna go look at the parks ball fields. kind of a long drive tho
ok....
add up..."our deal" references to cards. east and west...both sides or hands in the game of bridge.
any parks where you can see a bridge from first base of a ballfield?
D - Was it right on the line? Or just by it? Your killing me, I thought it was in that field between the baseball diamond and the ice rinks
Harriet Island/Lilydale regional park has baseball feilds. Is this park diffrent then Harriet Island Park?
how long does a game of bridge go? would either east or west deal on the fiftieth hand? or the first (st paul was there first)
No, there was a mad rush to that small field between baseball diamond and the ice rinks, and that whole area got dug up in astounding speed.
It was actually off the first base line toward the boulevard referenced by a street name, as I recall.
That rush for the ice rinks was awesome, though.
actually an address, I think
jl...if harriet has ball parks i'm going with that park.
boats and bats...look about 10 feet off first base between first and second bases.
if there are two or more fields it'll be in the east or west field.
Sounds good!!!! See you tomorrow maybe! I am down to 3 hours of sleep now so I need to get off this computer.
Time to sleep and dream of.......
Night

Thanks D - I remember that address too. If I'd only kept digging past home plate. :( I was digging there before the ice rink clue.
You're right about that clue being awsome. I have excellent video of that nights dig. Locust big time!
.....STILL seeking anyone interested in MLK
.....or anyone who's been to Central Village Park (across the highway from MLK).
L & J and D - SCD's
V - Let me look into it again. I try and stray from MLK because it let me down Big Time on 2 different occasions
Malachi you should cool it. j/k anyways I just got done reading all the past posts, gonna do research now.
Clue - I know you do. Per our previous message yesterday, sounds like it hurt big time (Merriam Park did it for me in '99 because of the book reference that I mistook for MERRIAM WEBSTER dictionary writer. It meant RUTH at Conway).
i'm still stuck on harriet...
man of steel cannot be real........real paddle boats are made of wood like the jonathan paddleford
V - My back still hurts. I remember talking with you now. I just don't want anybody to get hurt is all:(

CM...i haven't reached that point. i still dig blindly on a whim...if there were any snow here i'd somehow make the clues fit and be out digging.
Clue - I understand. I know the feeling.
WG - Been there / done that again, again, again & again. Still do on occasion. Kinda getting that old feeling again this year because of the crew from New York filming my adventures. WG - Forgive me but were you at the PP tonight?
nope...still in new zealand....
i'm guessing there was a weim there, eh?
That's right - You fly home on clue 16 right :)
yupper...hope it gets that far <g>
