Yes, there are at least two treasures. Possibly as many as eight.

The first one to find it wins. The clues match up with all eight spots.

Welcome to St. Paul.

which wordplay, snowball, the guard reference?

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 12:59 PM Permalink
No user inform…

off base could also be a "military base" i.e. Ft Snelling area or Holman Field (i.e. St Paul Airport)

Well I'm back from the drawing board. Valley has a lot of space and it has softball fields, but in no reality does anyone ride around in anyhing there.

Allright, somebody fill me in ...

Let the clues lead you to the park...don't force the clues to fit your favorite.

This morning I posted about how a big gang always dreams it's in Como. It's a big park with lots of stuff. Sure you can make the clues match, but that's not how it goes.

Of course, it could be in Como and I'll eat my words, but I doubt it.

Si Si Ares.

Never thought of the military base.

Or is this a reference to the Base jumper that broke his leg earlier this month. Does any park have a place to base jump???

I'll tell you though I absolutely do not believe it is at Como. Nor Hidden Falls nor Battle Creek.

FUMDUCK

Allison! Which Valley are you talking about?

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:05 PM Permalink
Regalman

Phalen and como both fit, and with Como reading the clues simply, it fits better than phalen. Analyzing, and going too deep possibly works with phalen. Just don't think they'd nake it that difficult, cuz we make it difficult. Keeping it simple, como is the place, but where to dig with the best chance is the question??(I know!!)

Allison Wonderland

So here's a theory, tell me what you think. Like I've mentioned earlier, two years ago the clues made a lot of sports references with the idea that it was supposed to help you guess that Babe Ruth was the famous man they were referring to. This year they are making a lot of war references and have another vague clue about a man of mettle. Following so far?

we follow ya aw.

donna- In my opinion, making too much of indivdual words and phrases and not going for the entire spirit of the clue.

FUMDUCK- Valley Rec Center on University and Jackson

Snowball, I'll be in Phalen also.

SueButt

Allison, will your alter ego be there too? lol

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:10 PM Permalink
mncheetah

AW - what do you think of my "lots of space" = Universe = University theory?

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:10 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Ok, so what if the man of mettle is a well known warrior? My guess is possibly Stonewall Jackson? Stonewall possibly contrasts "man of steel" and he had a lot of courage. But what really made me think of this was "around our deal". The idea of his name being around something. I couldn't imagine a printed name being around something, but what if someone had a nickname of a thing, and it was the thing they were referring to? What if his name being around something means there is a stone wall around the "deal"?

Does anybody think the old Gillete Childrens Hospital across from phalen right off WheelLock have anything to do with anything

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:13 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

The way I read the clue, the lots of space was specifically for riding around. Trying to go for simplest explanation in that case, I can't think of it as being anything other than bike paths.

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:13 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

My alter ego? Derick you mean?

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:14 PM Permalink

Allison, read post 17752

Where are you digging allison?? Can i ask?/

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:15 PM Permalink
ares

you mean, like at the amphitheatre at phalen, allison?

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:15 PM Permalink
Nensea

That was my guess too AW. Also the fact that the gates are now open at night and in the past they were not. At least they were last night.

mn - nice Universe take. I haven't herd that before. And I'm partial to VRC anyway. - it may seem like bit of a stretch but it's nice to have more fit than less.

C4T50 -

I had Wheelock down for Circular, and "Steer Clear". I think it could fit, but isn't enought toenoughme to Phalen . . . YET!

SueButt

Just having a little fun...

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:15 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

What is the significance of that Regalman? And I'll be in Phalen, or do you mean where in Phalen?

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:17 PM Permalink
Regalman

Personally, I'm in a big park, on the east side, where the East rd makes a right angle turn and is the border of the park, which is surrounded by private property, which is out of view from the rest of the park, and is in even elevation with a circle thing!

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:17 PM Permalink
crazyfortreasure

I think it's at PHalen. Cuz last night the gates were open. and the are ALWAYS closed. If it was there they wouldnt keep them closed so people have to walk like a mile. Unless they wanted to be mean LOL. If they are open again 2-night deffinate possibility. If they are closed then somebody was slacking on the job last night

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:18 PM Permalink
Regalman

Does it sound too deep or good reference??

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:18 PM Permalink
crazyfortreasure

At phalen they have all these bridges that connect all these different bike paths and stuff. I know cuz I run it every other day lol

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:18 PM Permalink
Digginganimal

I don't think it is in Phalen or Como

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:18 PM Permalink
Regalman

I saw 3 parks and rec trucks parked by hidden sitting there doing nothing, probably slacked!! Hard working, city employees!LOL

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:19 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Maybe not at the amphitheater, but I'll probably be in search of stone walls for lack of a better idea.

Fri, 01/26/2001 - 1:19 PM Permalink

so, animal, what's your theory?
