Has anyone connected the steer comment from clue #2 and the herd comment from clue #5. I believe it means it may be an old farm area. Maybe trying too hard. I have been digging at Phalen since yesterday and don.t really want to move anywhere else yet.
I like Phalen, and speeking of the war theme--couldn't base then refer to an army base of some sort, or something to do with the military--plus Arlington Ave runs into phalen.
yes, Michelle and I are meeting the members of our singles club and then we're all heading out there roughly around 7.
As for last year, let me think. There was a clue about shelters and Phalen had some. There was the clue about towers and I was convinced that if you lined up the two towers on the ice castle memorial it would point to the treasure. And then something in clue 2 I think it was made me think it was by a flag pole, (something about being the ace driver and in the pole position) and it turned out the two towers, if you lined them up, pointed right at the flag pole.
As for Valley, I can't say it was my favorite ship. I certainly wasn't looking forward to it being there, but everything seemed to work and I had to go with that.
I was thinking off base either meant near but not on softball fields, or AWOL (a wall), or that Phalen Park is the base, and Phalen Rec Center is off base.
Hi Allison...he he. I didn't mean to sink your ship or make fun of it rather...all in good heart, of course. Anyway, we will be there about 7pm tonight...give and take a few minutes...
For Regalman's info...yes..Allison is about as smart as they are made! He is very very very intelligent and really puts a lot of thought into the clues..and you are right! Up until now, Valley looked promising. We will see...
Allison, did I tell you about the dream I had? I think we should look around "those"...see you about 6/6:30 or whenever you can get here...
In looking at the guide, it seems there are a lot of stone walls all over the park. Do you guys think that may be the right interpretation? Stonewall Jackson?
Hi Guys! Kaposia Park is in SSP, I used to live in SSP. Lots of high schoolers like to drink there at night (I was one of them)...maybe they'll share some with you! LOL!
Allison- There are a lot of things that point to Phalen. I dunno I'm thinking that it could be down in the lil Island thing by the picinic building. lots of stone bridges and a bridge named after somebody with his pic on it. (cant remember the name)
Its just that if Stonewall Jackson is not right, it leaves me asking, who is the man of mettle? And its not a knight all you Battle Creek people! I'll bet money on that!
I like Phalen, but something is just not quite right. I am not sure what it is. I probably will be eating my words, but i really don't think it is there. I am going to look anyway and see what it looks like, but something is fishy. I guess i just imagined it in a smaller park.. My best guess is Langford LOL!!
It was in West St. Paul one year, but that year they didn't specifically say its in St. Paul. Sometimes they just says Ramsey Co. (though I don't think its even in Ramset Co., is it?)
And personally, I'm thinking its not in Phalen, not in Phalen PARK that is.
my theory step was the collection of rides at como, i'm not sure if they're part of the zoo grounds or not, and this concerned me since i noticed signs all around the zoo telling hunters to keep off the zoo grounds.
well Everyone I am here I have been gone on Vacation for the past 7 days and I get back to see the Watercooler hopping again, and 6 clues out there.. I have been reading them over and over again. I seem to like Phalen to start but we shall see where this blasted hunt takes us.
Nensea - it could be, but every large park has bike paths. One thing that keeps coming to mind is that all the highschool kids like to drive their cars around phalen drive, but i don't think enough people would know that to use it as a clue
Boy....slogging the last messages takes quite a bit of time, but can definitely be helpful.
Looks like we are not much more defined than we were two nights ago. I just did some driving around Highland with my dad and only saw one person digging. I so wish I could place all the clues in one location.
Just yesterday I was saying that I usually only try to mentally figure out the clues, but for some reason this year I really want to get out and dig. I want more clues now!!!!!!LOL
Have been hunting for a number of years with my parents and now I am trying to get my youngest( 1 1/2) interested in the medallion hunt. I am trying to get him to correctly pronounce Medallion. He is getting close.
I did have a dream last night that I found the medallion. What a sweet dream that was... only problem was that I found it in my parents yard....and they don't even live in St. Paul. Argggghhhh.
That must mean that I will get close, but will not succeed yet again.
Has anyone come up with new thoughts on the "mettle" clue? I can't even get one person that it might work for.
I don't know what the man of mettle thing is. Como has about 100 things dedicated to people. I guess Henry Ford makes the most sense to me so far. I don't know.

Cluemaster or no Clue? lol
Walking SnowMAn- Were you there this morning like down in the 3rd parking lot? My the club house
SB - More than likely the latter
You and me both...
I'm failin' to think of anywhere else...
Well, im off to drive around. Catch up with all later.
I was in the bus turnaround area. staying away from the buildings
I like Phalen, and speeking of the war theme--couldn't base then refer to an army base of some sort, or something to do with the military--plus Arlington Ave runs into phalen.
Later Regal - Me too.
Walking- ya mean over at the rec center behind that ball back stop?
Joe
Dang....missed it
MFats..too late

I'll be hittin Phalen lata tonight, after the next clue, unless #7 directs me elsewhere.

Im serious you all can come to my house to warm up=) My parents wouldnt mind at all LOL They are treasure huntin freaks also
Hey Allison. There is a wall by the Swimming beach at that building right there
Kaposia Park in WEST St. Paul - near military base, stock yards, has a one-way street.
Will Derick be there with the cocoa?
Then you'd have to put your address on the message board and I wouldn't recommend that.
See ya'll at phalen

AW,don't forget about the lighted point on the church tower seen from Phalen last year. Had me going!
In looking at the guide, it seems there are a lot of stone walls all over the park. Do you guys think that may be the right interpretation? Stonewall Jackson?

Yes, you told me about that dream Michelle. Sort of fits with "stonewall". We'll see.
allison, even if it's not a stonewall jackson reference, off-base=awol should be enough to fill in that blank.
I don't think South St. Paul or West St. Paul, or even North St. Paul qualify as St. Paul for the purposes of this hunt.
Wasn't it it WSP one year?

Im thinking the man of Mettle. Is the guy on that bridge somebody made a good point about what Im talking about earlier.
It was in West St. Paul one year, but that year they didn't specifically say its in St. Paul. Sometimes they just says Ramsey Co. (though I don't think its even in Ramset Co., is it?)

It was so much easier last year, i was at Newell on clue #4
IF the gates are open it has gotta be there!!
Better go, have fun at Phalen, Como, Battlecreek, Highland, Langford...and Good luck!
anyone have a good theory on "riding around can be fun"? that can be so many things.
my theory step was the collection of rides at como, i'm not sure if they're part of the zoo grounds or not, and this concerned me since i noticed signs all around the zoo telling hunters to keep off the zoo grounds.
it may br refering to those old merry go rounds that most parks once had- before all of the new play equip
well Everyone I am here I have been gone on Vacation for the past 7 days and I get back to see the Watercooler hopping again, and 6 clues out there.. I have been reading them over and over again. I seem to like Phalen to start but we shall see where this blasted hunt takes us.
Ares - i thought that too, and there is also a carousel in or near the consevatory right?
Could be the bike path around Phalen. I ride it every summer.
Nensea - it could be, but every large park has bike paths. One thing that keeps coming to mind is that all the highschool kids like to drive their cars around phalen drive, but i don't think enough people would know that to use it as a clue

Has anyone noticed that they still haven't said anything about it being in a park yet?
I don't know what the man of mettle thing is. Como has about 100 things dedicated to people. I guess Henry Ford makes the most sense to me so far. I don't know.
anyone here need a hunting partner?
