Annette B.

I haven't figured out how to go back in the clues to an estimated time. But if someone admitted to it, I may be able to forgive him, but perhaps not believe him next time...I think I pretty much know who wouldn't do that around here, and after a few days you get to "seeing" the same folks...Anyway I went to the capitol w/ the governing clue, and looked around at all the war stuff, and the Peace Officers memorial, then I walked thru the skyway to the Radisson and went out to look at Kellogg Park. Oh well....unless it is narrowed down more I can't figure out where it may be.

How can you be so sure? I just don't get that Mocha clue. I know alot of the other stuff points to Como, but some of it points to other parks - what does the mocha clue mean?

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:03 AM Permalink
Marleyking

COcoa MOcha

Annette B.

Oops - boy am I dense or what? All I could think of is that it didn't make sense since a Cafe Mocha is a chocolate coffee.

ANNETTE B I'm very sorry that you bought into that clue. Please forgive me

I thought THAT was the fake clue, the other looked more real. If nothing else you could say I am in a fine fettle if that means healthy or whatever bcuz of all the walking I did tonight. I forgive you.

Good Evening and hello everyone!

I was so sure it was MLK. The clues just seemed to fit so well there. Of course, as always, it's a matter of interpretation.

Now we just need to get things lined up in Como. It's a huge park and tons of snow to move, but that medallion will be found. It always is.

Nensea - we owe you about 13 cents - remind us when you see us.

hi terry, whats your thoughts on which area its in

T.V I just came back fromm Como you can rule out west picnic area.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:15 AM Permalink
Terry

Hi Annette and Marley King.

I feel clueless as to what part of the park - though I am thinking not on the Horton side of the West Picnic Grounds. There are three fire rings down there - but the rest of the clues aren't visible.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:16 AM Permalink
Marleyking

want to rule it out, but i cant. i like a couple other areas

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:17 AM Permalink
Terry

I don't think you can totally rule out the West Picnic Grounds. The trolley and play ground are there.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:18 AM Permalink
Terry

My plan...

Get a good night's sleep.

Get up and really noodle those clues to a more specific part of the park.

Go do some digging.

Get the next clue.

Do some more digging.

Terry, do you know if that playground is new? its not in the guide

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:20 AM Permalink
Annette B.

Do you think Circular thinking could have any reference to Golf greens ? Probably a reeeeal stretch, but I thought of it earlier tonight.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:20 AM Permalink
Terry

Como really is a showcase of a park. Maybe with the documentary folks here, the hiders thought that would be good place to have the hunt. I wonder if we had thought of that earlier, if we would have been all over the city.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:20 AM Permalink
Terry

I think golf links is a good noodle, actually. It's one of the better ideas that we've seen here imho.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:21 AM Permalink
Matt

Heh, there's a large set of possibilities that plague the entire south edge of Como.

Is McMurray field technically part of Como or not?

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:22 AM Permalink
Clue Master

BS - Why rule out the West picnic area?

By the way, looks like Annette has a bone to pick with you.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:23 AM Permalink

dont dig in or on the golf course it has never been in one b-4.....

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:24 AM Permalink
Marleyking

annette i think there could be a link/golf reference.

terry-good plan!

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:24 AM Permalink
Terry

No one was digging at McMurray tonight. Doesn't mean it couldn't be there, but I didn't see anyone.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:24 AM Permalink
Marleyking

not on the golf course, but across from it is a good area

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:26 AM Permalink
Matt

Heh, stay the hell AWAY from the golf course. I'm surprised that it's in the park without any directions to stay away from digging up the area of the festivities, too.

Can *ANYONE* tell me if McMurray field is/is not TECHNICALLY part of Como park? All the maps tell me yes, but the sign that says, "McMurray Field," on site doesn't mention Como park at all.

THIS is where you geniuses should be looking. I've fully explained myself several times as to why.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:26 AM Permalink
Annette B.

No - I would never go on a golf course, rest assured, but just thought it could be close to it. Also the "figure" reference - I guess I am taking it literally that it should be an actual number, and if one way is not a one-way street but #1, like in ball field #1, that is something I can't seem to shake either.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:26 AM Permalink
Terry

I'd like to think it might be down towards the lake...but with the obvious water and no water clue yet, it's hard to put it there.

The only connection - and sorry about this as it's late and I'm running on caffeine here - is that Cocoa and Mocha are liquids and the Como might be not only referring to the park, but to the lake. I doubt it, but just noodling possibilities.

Hiyall!

Finally made it home, kids are in bed and I'm BEAT.

We looked at the area up on the hill above the lakeside pavillion first. It has a good feeling in a lot of ways, but I don't think it would be put in such an inaccessable location.

Met up with some friends digging at the West picnic grounds, but they were down by the fire rings. I don't like that area for hunting. Just doesn't seem right.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:27 AM Permalink
Brandon Spry

Hey Annette B. thanks for forgiving me for the fake clue, I really feel bad about it.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:27 AM Permalink
Matt

Terry: you weren't there all night, I saw at least 10 people stroll through the field. It's rough ROUGH terrain. I wouldn't say that it'd be there in the field, but on the south ridge? That's a possibility.

The picnic grounds and anywhere near the festivities (sculptures, etc. etc.) are very sour in my mouth.

And I stress again, there are *so many people looking for this thing, they wouldn't hide it remotely close to the golf course. The rule of margin of error will statistically prove that people will spill out into places that have absolutely no meaning to the hunt. People would dig up the golf course. I wouldn't be surprised if a few winners will do it this year anyway.

There are baseball fields where the snow sculptures, the slide and the maze thing is out there. Putting the medallion in the same area would be nutz.

Is there a baseball type area in the West Picnic Area? Seems to me there used to be at least one towards the back of the area near what is now the octagon shaped shelter in that area.

"Traveling the old way again" could it mean maybe an old way into Como? like and old road??????

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:31 AM Permalink
Marleyking

mom that is a hard walk up that hill, but it did feel right to us. maybe in the depression?

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:32 AM Permalink
Matt

Terry: The SE corner of the lake is a huge possibility.

The one way street around the lake.

The E and W parkways join together there. Which one is right?

Ryde (riding around) street runs perpindicular to the parkway (which is my westernmost consideration to that area at this point in time.)

The bike riding path around the lake.

Victoria (victorious) St. runs to the corner.

The cornerstone of the Ramsey county courthouse is there, too, Ramsey sure could be a man of mettle. I'm not so sure about this one...

Annette B.

Well, like I said, there is a positive as I did get plenty of walking in, and I haven't been getting to the "Y" as much as I should - geez that reminds me, Monday I have an appt w/ a trainer there.

yes tv

...not to mention gateway drive (linking) is also along the edge of the lake.

Cluemaster Annette said she forgave me so simmer down. I don't know for sure if you can rule it out but I'd be willing to bet a steak dinner it's not in the west picnic area.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:33 AM Permalink
'mom'

MK - You mean by the pavillion?

It was my first instinct going to Como last night....I really liked the fact that there's a circular one way road up there. But there does seem to be a lot more to tie in with the clues by the picnic area.

The treasure needs to be *out of view* from the circular linking, btw. That's why I don't think it's by the fire rings.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:34 AM Permalink
Terry

Matt - That would mean the train is an old way of traveling. Black Bear Crossing is just down Como there as well.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:34 AM Permalink
Matt

Brandon: I highly doubt it's in the picnic area as well. Plain silly.

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:34 AM Permalink
Terry

Mom - I agree. Those fire rings just didn't seem the right fit.

Well, I hate to leave good company, but it's way past time to be in bed dreaming happy medallion finding dreams.

So...thanks all for the noodling help, goodnight and SCMDs!!

Goodnight and SCCMD's (sweet como cooler medallion dreams)!

Sun, 01/28/2001 - 3:38 AM Permalink

Terry: It's a tossup between there and McMurray, the clues fit around McMurray decently, actually.

Coach Rd. (old way of travelling)

Depression (the field is very much that)

The huge parking ramp to the N across the tracks has lots of space... kinda shaky, but acceptable.

Wynne ave (victorious)

The man of steel escapes me all over this place, though.

Above all, my logic also gives weight to how the place looks and feels. It doesn't feel good anywhere else, yet. :)
