Nite folks...the clues may make more sense later this morning after a little rest. I may head over to Mickey's for a little breakfast right now. Boy do these clues work a person up.
hi all..just got back from diggin over in zone 4 by the trolley and i went over to zone 7 and looked around.. i just don't have a good feeling about those yet.. hmph
I've given away most of the tools that I've masterfully created over the past few days. I was at Como last night, and the night before (not to say that I wasn't everywhere else as well).. There's more that I'll never talk about (people have to think for themselves, of course :), but this is a huge amount of connection. Have at it =)
Como just seemed to be the most likely. MLK was neat, but not neat enough. Same with Marydale and various other rec areas. Arlington was ghetto. Phalen was locked up. Highland always works for me to begin with and I'm sick of believing it. :P
Remember: Given that you've got the correct location, you're human, you're going to error, give yourself about 20 yards (60 feet) to compensate and don't dig in little bitty holes of possibility... That's inefficient. Given that in mind, that's about 630 square feet to cover a site! Better be ready to commit to winning :)
Anyway, I'm wired, need to go sleep. Have a wonderful night, and good luck hunting tomorrow (you better be on your way digging. :)
Brandon - now I remember why (especially why) this clue (the real clue) didn't seem real to me is that I had suggested that the Gov's mansion may be public property so should we all meet over there, and someone mentioned that perhaps they may serve us hot cocoa? I believe that was right, anyway......I believe that was b4 the clue came out.....so I thought that someone was just joking around with this clue.....anyway....
Well I'm not ruling out McMurray totally BUT you do have to say they spelled it out for us pretty clearly tonight....West picnic area looks great to me and they spelled out COMO not McMurray so I think McMurray is just a border for the spot. Possibly next clue could change my mind, but for now west picnic area looks great to me.They even have pony rides there in the summer.....and get this all you cicular thinkers...they ride the kids on ponies in circles!LOLOLOL!
I cannot imagine how anyone could be hunting for over 30 yrs for this thing...I will be relieved when someone finds it. I know it won't be me because I don't believe I will be going out to fight the crowds at Como - it would be interesting to see everyone digging. Because whichever park I have ever picked (like Rice a few days ago) no one was at. WELL - I am off to Mickey's Diner - I believe I will have decaf tho or I won't sleep at all today! Good nite (or good morning) everyone - happy hunting!
Hey Scribe and THX - welcome home - just slogged through 900 posts to get here. I know that Matt does not think West Picnic, but I think it is there or possibly at the ball field. In the clue it says West or East but not both. Since you can't dig at East, it must be West.
Just got back from como, I'm not sloggin thru all, but I see some are having probs with relating cocoa and mocha. The pavillion at como has a coffee shop in the pavillion. They serve mocha and chocolate there!!
Some thoughts to ponder, clue 3 refers to bank account shrinking. The banks at Mac Murray definently shrink from west to east. could circular thinking be running bases? We usually say their rounding the bases. #7 traveling the old way. the road around the field used to be a two way! I'm I reaching?
I'm guessing travelling the old way means that you'll be able to see the mini golf trolley car from the hiding spot. My take on Circular thinking is one way of Linking to our treasure that lies out of view - you play a ROUND of golf, golf courses are called "links." The park where the med is hidden has a golf course, but you won't be able to see it from the hiding spot. I think they want us to be on the side of the park with the amusement park rides (riding around can be fun) and away from the slide and snow sculptures. I'm still trying to fit the man of steel/mettle thing in. I don't have a guide so street names are a pain for me.
I have an idea about clue #5. So far it seems like everyone has been trying to think of two names that fit with this clue. But if you read the clue carefully, it says "a man of steel cannot be real but another has plenty of mettle - look for HIS name around our deal..." This seems to mean that it is only one name. I was thinking that the name is a fictional character AND someone who is real. Lexington is the man of metal and Lex Luther is the man that's not real?
Okay cooler heads............ here is my take on it. But leave me a spot to park...... It's by the old Park Police Station (small stone building on Lexington and Horton). The bridge that is near there (just west of it) is an old streetcar right-of-way bridge, the tracks used to run under it...... The street that is just east of that is Churchill.....Not sure what more you need. Good Luck and if this helps you, mention my name.........I can also address any other clue you need help with at that spot.
Am heading out within the hour to Como. Not sure what location exactly but will be looking over the clues and maps before I leave. The mettle man is Winston Churchill. I'll be wearing my "Treasure Digger" badge and possibly something white around my arm or white tape on my coat. See you out there!!!!
Treasure digger, I'll see ya out there. I will be wearing a light blue hardhat liner with the Carnival button on the top, Dark Blue Coat and My nephew will have an orange kids shovel. SEEEEEEEya there.
Mr. Ya I know, but there was a very interesting mettle man of there. Think I'm goona head out there again this time with the kiddies. They all wanted to stay up with me last night, and go out there with me. Ya right. Me, 3 over tired kids, in the dark, at midnight. No way on Gods green earth. So I told them I'd take them today.
you can see the first bank from the top, and theres that sliding area-a depression, the hamm memorial waterfall, and of corse the circular one-way.
anyone know who nusbaumer is?
like the ryde/victoria idea too matt

Annette B I've learned my lesson I'll never do that again, hope to see you out at Como.

Brandon,
You're an asshole!
You think that was funny?
You let people go for over 100 posts (almost 150) with your bullshit.
And these people went to the Capital and missed the real clue just so you could have a little fun?
Hey Scribe and THX - welcome home - just slogged through 900 posts to get here. I know that Matt does not think West Picnic, but I think it is there or possibly at the ball field. In the clue it says West or East but not both. Since you can't dig at East, it must be West.
Hey leelabell,
We're just about to hit the hay! Talk to ya tomorrow. You're not going out right?
Wish I had an "I found the medallion" sweatshirt to sleep in.

What happened to the obvious COcoa/MOcha?
That is still there, people who try to relate every word have to be coaxed into the park at times.
back from como...tired...going back tomorrow...very interested in seeing zone 7 in daylight!
SCD's all
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Mick - you lurking?
COMO FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone here??
nope
JUST A THOUGHT - IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE PEACEFUL BIRD COULD BE THE MN STATE BIRD - THE LOON?
Everyone thinks it's como? Where abouts?

Never--I think you are stretching...I think these clues are meant to be simple. People seem to read into them too much.
I'm guessing travelling the old way means that you'll be able to see the mini golf trolley car from the hiding spot. gotta go - off to choir. Back later! Good luck everyone!
I think you guys are readin too much into circular thinking. Isn't there still a round driveway by the boat pavilion at Como??
Good morning all. Is anyone here?

Good thought N-cat, and Lex goes right by the lake.

Mr. Ya I know, but there was a very interesting mettle man of there. Think I'm goona head out there again this time with the kiddies.
