Hey Tim, good to see you. Just wanted to say though that technically your chance to find the medallion has passed this year. You'll have to wait for next year. Maybe next year will be the year of Tim ;)
Lets see, according to Chinese thingie's, 1980 (when i was born) was the year of the monkey(so watch for flying dung people)... we'll have to look to the chinese to figure out when the year of tim is, hopefully those medallingkids is right, and 2002 is the year of the tim.
2002 is the year of the cooler. I figure that I might as well be the member of the cooler to find it. If you guys keep creating so much publicity, I will have annoying "medallion" groupies following me everywhere. So don't go telling EVERYONE that it is my year to find the medallion.
I got some new boots last night, and they work Great!!! Now all I need is a new spade, and I am set. Unfortunately it may be too late to buy one of those... we will have so see.
How many days until the hunt??? Or should I say how many days until the 5th clue comes out??? I WANT TO DIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
like i said before, i've got the 98 hunt if you want it posted up somewhere. if someone wants to go through the trouble of archiving up the 99 and 2000-2001 hunt threads i'll host it too. its nice not being bound by restrictions on my net access :) just send things my way and we can get them online at least.
Jake, you are looking at over 6,000 pages there. That is a lot of toner and a heck of a lot of paper. Not to be the tree hugger of the group, but that's a lot of trees too! Would saving it onto a CD be more economically feasible? And resourceful?
I am not knocking your plan, I think it is awesome that you want to keep an archive, these are simply my thoughts, take them for what they are. Thank you.
Well, I only WISH that I had something to look at from hunts before I was around........ If something were to happen to me tomorrow, I just want to see that people 25 years from now can see what it was like to hunt in the first years of the 21st century........ As far as the paper goes, that's life. It's not as if I am wasting it, the archives will be used and enjoyed for years to come. By the way Rushmore, I actually have a couple of items that the puck was either attatched to or hidden in.........
Jake, hey, that makes sense, go for it! I never thought of it that way. It would be cool to read what people thought about clues from hunts many year ago. I'm not saying your wasting paper, just damn, that's a lot of paper. Out of curiousity, how did you get the items from past hunts?
what's trent's email? i'll try to get the stuff up this weekend and post an address here for it. and as long as we don't eat up all my outgoing bandwidth we can keep it there :) of course if the pipe starts getting full, i'll just buy a faster connection. mmm. bandwidth. also, does anyone know if anyone has the 2000 hunt or a running archive of this one?
Folks, I'm checking to see if I can get 2000 through 2001 onto a zip or something. Also, FYI we're looking to move off of this forum system in the very near future, so if someone else wants to archive this thread, feel free.
More to come including timing on that in the next few weeks. I'm hoping to avoid the transition landing squarely in the middle of the hunt.
I think Ken Barlow pretty much summed it up last night. "There is something wrong here folks, I am standing here in the backyard in December and the temperature is 55 degrees, but the reason there is something wrong is that while it is warm here it is 31 degrees and SNOWING in Arizona." What would the PP do if there was a 40 degree hunt??? Big park wrapped in clay and grass and probably outside of St. Paul, but who knows......... ONLY 48 DAYS!!!!!!
E. The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt medallion is hidden on public land in Ramsey County. The Pioneer Press reserves the right to discontinue the Hunt at any time if public property is destroyed.
The masses are starting to gather... AIN'T THIS WAY COOLER????!!!!!
My most deartest, darlingest, wunnerfullest, precious (after The Wizard, Casey...) SYSOP... There is no way in Heaven you can switch to a new watchamacallitthingybobdohickeywhatever during The Hunt!!! I do believe that was done in '98 (or wuz it '99???)and let me tell you!!! "Restless" DOES NOT even BEGIN to define the mood we Natives were in. I do believe "murderous" comes a whole lot closer!!!! :D
Like, is there enkneeway we could like make sure the Big Switcheroo takes place b4 or after The Hunt? Those of us that have nothing better to do (said tongue-in-cheek) and spend HOURS here noodling, cannot afford to have our life's blood down for even a second...
Respectfully submitted very beseechingling and pleadingly - with sugar on top, even...
I would just like to say that it must be getting to be time--buttons are on sale. Buttons, Buttons, Buttons. One of these days one of those babies is going to pay off.
Ah yes! The Water Cooler, Medallion Hunt!! Dont think I've forgotten about it this year! And also, dont forget how much you people messed with me and made fun of me last year. Come on! You didnt think that would keep me away, did you? Yes, yes, yes, your all friends now, but just wait, the same thing will happen as last year, as soon as the first clue comes out, there will be fighting amongst the happytons.
Crappy? What happened to ya last year? You never did come out to Como and beat up me and Shaggy 2 Dope, with your karate skills, like you said you were gonna do.
I think it would be great if they hid it there again. That would show a good sense of humor on their behalf. We would definitely have to think twice for every hunt thereafter. However, Ian, I would have to agree and say that, yeah - they won't hide it there. That is the one safe bet.
I think there is really only one way for them to throw us for a loop, and that is to put it in Maplewood. You know, one of lifes great lessons is this: Things change, people change, it's been 20 years since its been hidden in that town,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Besides, The Great MN Get-Together Place izz in Falcon Heights.
Hay, Ian! Nice colour you got there! :D
Butttons, huh? I was yust thinking yesterday as I messed with Christmas tree lights that 'bout the time the tree comes down, I gotta hunt. Or a little after, enkneeways...
Had a GREAT time at the zoo, Jakey! Friggin' birds...
If they wanted to put The Med in a margarita glass... Where would they hide it?
Jake it will SNOT be in Maplewood!!!
I yust hope where ever ittiz, the place has HEATED potties!!!

By the way, thanks, before you put them up I thought they were lost forever!!!! Make sure you keep getting them every year!!

A combination of enthusiasm and $$$$, email me and I will email you a picture.......
Jake,
Do you have the '99 board in a zip file? I'd like to get it if you do.
Ares,
It would be great if you'd post these on your site. A great community service.
I have the 99 hunt, email Trent and I am sure he will get them to you.
Thanks

I think it would be great if they hid it there again. That would show a good sense of humor on their behalf. We would definitely have to think twice for every hunt thereafter. However, Ian, I would have to agree and say that, yeah - they won't hide it there. That is the one safe bet.

I THOUGHT IT WAS A REALLY GOOD BET THAT THEY WOULDNT HIDE IT THERE LAST YEAR!!!!

I could not agree with you more Jake!
Has to be in the State Fair Grounds this year...has to be
State Fair Grounds is off limits I believe for it is now private property.
