2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Thanky, Ian. I do appreciate that thar "Joe!"

Well, this white stuff's a beginning, anyway. I pray The Hunting Gods are kind this year and don't give us any thaws sos we gotta dig thru hard stuff. I hate digging thru fluffy stuff as ittiz...

TODAY IZZ CHRISTMAS EVE EVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tomorrow izz CHRISTMAS EVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! An then ittiz CHRISTMAS!!!!!!

For the first time in my life I've been baking Christmas cookies. NOT a pretty sight... I've always hated baking, and now hate it WORSER! Outta five things, only two - Rice Krispie bars and Chocolate Rum Balls - have I not scrwed up the recipe. Redid the Thumb Print Cookies, and they're much better. Not a baker, I didn't have cookie sheets, sos used glass lasagna pans... What a DIFFERENCE cookie sheets make! What took 20-25-30 mins in the lasagna pans takes but 10 mins on a cookie sheet! Gods, I hate to bake...

Merry Christmas Eve Eve, 'Heads!!!!!! :D

P.S PALIMINO JOE!!!

Good Morning!

Guess we'll have some snow to dig through this year...unless it all melts again. Better than looking for dirt/leaf clumps.

Green - If you're serious about baking, get yourself some decent cookie sheets...not the air-insulated kind...(Ecko puts out some good ones) and you might find you actually enjoy making cookies. It also helps to have some cooling racks.

Nice to see the troops gathering again.

I've gotten my buttons already. We just need to get them registered now. I'm not sure I'm particularly liking this year's designs, but then who cares? Coming up with something everyone would like every year would be tough. As long as it gets me the full amount of prize money, who am I to complain?

Hay, Bud!!! How the heck have you BEEN!!!!!

I *wondered* if The DOG was Sloop! Cooler! Gosh! I at least figured SOMETHING out this Hunt!!!

As I sit and type this, I've got on this year's shirt - the one with COOLERHEADS 2001 and our Web site (www.coolercrew.com) on the rite sleeve... - and the 50th logo on the left chest and all the places The Med was found thru 2000 on the back. I love these shirts (tiny sniffle o'emotionalizm [izz that a word?]) even more so than the "Cooler Heads Prevail" shirts, cuz the 2001 shirts tie us in with the entire Med Hunt, know what I mean? Like The Cooler Crew izz as much a part o'The Hunt as where the friggin' Med's found!!! I mean, you like don't see 'SUPERAMERICA' or 'KOOL108' or anything like THAT on the shirts!!!!

TERRY!

Howdy! I got some sheets (four; two big, two med) at Wally World... And they seem to be working slicker'un snot. They're not Ecko, I don't think they're anything! But, they do seem to be otay... And I did (breaking arm, patting self on back...) think to get cooling sheets - somewhere in the back o'my mind I heard/saw my grandmother... Those racks work better'un alum foil on the top o'the (gas) stove!!! LOL!!!

Made divinity... I remembered the hard crack stage in the glass o'cold water (my grandmother looking over my shoulder again...), but it turned out more taffy-y than what I remember.

And the Corn Flake Cookies? When it says blend in the corn flakes... DO NOT USE AN ELECTRIC BEATER!!!! Ah... Makes the cookies kind'a a titch flat...

Today I'm making Spritz... Question: When do I put on the little decorations: green sugar stuff, red sugar stuff, and those little tiny, pee-wee, minute round balls? BEFORE I bake the cookies, or AFTER??????

I've got the buttons, too, but have to register. Gonna today...

I must be the only one that likes the design - especially THE HUNT ONE!!! I think 2002s are better than this years. Now THOSE were SUCKY!

I'm doing fine. I've aged some, matured some, traveled some, and met some. Now I'm ready to eat some, drink some, unwrap some, and give some...

It's great to see the Cooler Bunch again! = )

Stick around! ; )

P.S.- The t-shirts are great! They advertise the Cooler, provide a sense of pride, and identify the Crew. = )

Bud, we've all aged... Some have matured - some haven't (you can put me in with the latter... ROFLOLPMP!!!)

You sound like you're doing GREAT and are happy! COOLER!!!

I ain't goin' anywheres until well into February... Gonna clog this server with my xcellent noodling abilities - yust as I do every year!

SNOW!!!!!!! FINALLY SOME FRIGGIN' SNOW!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the props Kids. Like to see peeps stick up for me when i am afc.

Hey Bud, neeto to see you on the board. Are you coming back this year? As a filmguy, gigger, or both????

The snow is here, I was beggining to think the snow gods were afraid of the wrath that tim_the_hunter will bring to any and all snow that gets in my way. This year, considering I have my own ride, and that I am ready to get a lttle crazy out there with my shovel, I think that my odds of finding the medallion are about 70%. If I am in the correct park the forst or second honest try, the odds go to about 95%. Good luck to the rest of y'all, maybe I will let you see it!

I've been out on the east coast. Met on-line friends in Philly and Miami. Got a chance to see all the sites. In South Florida I saw South Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Bay Side, Coconut Grove, The Vizcaya House, two Hard Rock Cafes, Ron Jon Surf Shop, etc. I went to Orlando a few years back and Saw Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, etc. In Philly I saw the Amish and the historic sites. The Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the stairs Rocky ran up in front of the Art Museum, The Hard Rock Cafe, a Science Museum <Forgot the name... Ben Franklin Center or something like that.>, Dave and Busters Entertainment (Has billiards, arcades, bars, etc.>in New Jersey, I wanted to see NYC so they took me via the subway, went to the top of the Empire State Building, saw Madison Square Garden, the seaport over by the Brooklyn Bridge, Batterry Park, the Statue of Liberty, the Plaza Hotel, ate dinner at a Restauraunt at the World Trade Center, went up to the top, bought souveneirs, and a photo with my friends which will now be a part of memory after what happened September 11th, loved the food out there, I fell in love with strombolis, they sell them at the east coast style restauraunts here now so I've been pigging out. Before I met my friends on the East Coast I had only been out west in CA. It was interesting to see the various lifestyles , try the different foods, hear the different accents, etc. It's all pretty awesome. = )

#1 Why in the hell would she come up with this green-brown shit?

#2 I admit, it looks very similar, but there are so many mis-statements.

#3 This shit happens all year on the other boards. A lot of you don't check them out. Ask Tony (Bud).

Legitimate e-mails that I can verify will receive my 'proof'. If you have my other e-mail, use that.

No need to apologize....have any plans for Christmas?

I'm heading down to Mankato to feast with relatives.

Visions of bread pudding, the green bean casserole with the crunchies on top, turkey, stuffing, cranberries, beer, wine, veggies, and gift giving float around in my head.....

While green be a wanted for namsake....

Ian be a searchin' for evidence on her birthdate.....

Snow is a twirlin'......

Trucks are a plowin'.....

Terry & Eags are hiding at McGoverns....

They're all waiting for Green to finish her trek....

From Green to Green_Brown for goodness sake......

With the military converging on the evil Osama....

What's with picking on this pretty Green mama?!

Otay, so Tony ain't Bud. Who gives a ratz-ass?

Tony, doing the first Christmas I've really had in 10 years. Gave The Big Guy the option o'going to SNotV's or me doing everything, and he picked me doing. Doing Butter Lettuce Salad With Bacon, Dried Cherries And Roquefort Vinaigrette; turkey; gravy; dressing; Whipped Chipotle Sweet Potatoes; Cranberry-Jalapeno Relish (tho may use habs...); squarshed 'taters, Philly Peas, and Christmas Cranberry Salad fur dessert - NO PIES, as I HATE to bake.

And you'll never find that yucky green bean casserole in THIS house! (BARF!)

Christmas Eve we're going to church at 11:00 PM - and I pray a lightening bolt doesn't hit me in the head... Then hot buttered rum, Christmas cookies and opening ONE - just ONE - package. Cookies and milk (yeah... rite... Not in this house! Poor Santa doesn't have a chance with all the kids!!!) out fur Santa... Then to bed for CHRISTMAS the next day!!!!!

I'm Bud, CCR is I.

Sounds like fun, Green. Sorry to remind you of the casserole. LOL

Green - I also met Brown at McGovern's when Trent was here.

Put the sprinkly stuff on before baking. It helps to use a little beaten egg white lightly brushed on top so the sprinkly stuff has something to stick to.

Yes, you did, Ter. You certainly did, Ollie.

Do I whip the egg white until stiff peaks? Or just a little to mix it up, or what? Oh, and TANKS!!!

Sun, 12/23/2001 - 12:28 PM Permalink
Terry

Just a little, green. No stiff peaks....just mixed up. You know, like with a fork....not a mixer!

Sun, 12/23/2001 - 12:31 PM Permalink
green

Oh! Gottcha! Yust stir, like.

Glad you said that as "mix" = mixer in my mind...

No wonder the egg whites I put on the Thumb Print Cookies didn't wanna stick... I MIXERED them to stiff peaks!!!

Oh, well. Live and learn.

Gods, but I HATE to bake...

Thanks, Ter!

Wow, 40+ messages over night. As far as "Is green_brown the real Green?", I have to say she is. She knew what my hat was like and could describe it to Jake. If it's an impostor, how would they know my hat?

Ok, I'll give a little hint. If green is an associate producer, wouldn't she at least have a clue about what's happening for the upcoming hunt? ...and not make incorrect statements? I don't know anything about this Brown character, either.
