2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Do not beseech me for thou christ will beseech thee. I know where it is. Its in Phalen!

Actually on a serious note here. If you think about it. It has to be in a big park. After what they did in Newell on the 7th clue. YIKES! They lost so much money. So they will keep putting it in big parks. It can only be parks in St Paul. And Indian Mounds is off grounds now. So lets see where hasnt it been in awhile.

Harriet Island........wow hasnt been there in awhile. Then there's the almighty Phalen. I ask myself to not put it there. Please?

How'd "they" lose money, for JEZUZ CHRIST?

Ain't gonna bee Harriet with all the new work there.

You don't have to put it in a big park to have it go a long time. They can still put it in a smaller park, just hold off on defining where in the park it is, or be more ambiguous about the clues.

Mr.messiah,I think that they will make the clues a bit tougher this year so we don't narrow down the park until the last couple, after all we don't even have enough snow to really dig.If this is the case they certainly could consider a smaller park.....and I HATE Phalen!

I'm hoping for no snow for this year's hunt, I can bring my 5 iron and practice my golf swing! Who needs a shovel.

You need to practice your swing JW, I will catch ya next summer, LOL.

Good to see that I am forming a posse: med kids, scribe, and thx. I like it already.

If no snow I suppose it will be hidden in some frozen dirt.

I'm sure there's tons of ways to disguise the puck that haven't been considered.

Hi Scribe, ThoseMed, Green, and everyone else- Glad to see you all talking about this year's hunt. I am so happy to be here this year. John and I almost moved to the east coast on two occassions since last year. But, fortunately he found a job in the Twin Cities and we are celebrating. Can't wait to see all of you!!

Leelabell!!!!!!!! Coming to the pre-dig gig? Or will it be twilight meetings in a park near you?

I can't wait.

Hmmm, twilight meetings in a park with TMK or the pre-dig gig? That is a tough choice. :)

Hi Tim!!

Downtown Dave

Green--it was meant to be a compliment! You are an uncopyable, unique individual. And for that, you have my eternal respect. How could anyone else be Green? There is only one!

Downtown Dave

Oh, and hello to you too Scribe (Sorry, but I can't find all of those character you adopted after last year's hunt). It's so good to see so many familiar names noodling before any clues have come out! Not that lack of information has stopped me before. So, I am going to predict a downtown hiding place, because eventually, it has to be closer to my bed and I will not look quite so haggard at work after spending the night chopping snow.

Terry

Hello!

Everytime I check in here, someone else has returned! Way cooler!!!

Too funny about the Scribe-lette. Love to read and laugh at the same time!

Happy New Year, All: Green, Terry, Downtown Dave, medallionn, Ian, AllisonWonderland, The Professionals...who have I missed? I'm eager this year, since I was in the Dominican last year. I did check the clues, though, from a little German cyber cafe in Punta Cana. Good luck to everyone this year.

Tim - I wish you luck...you're gonna need it!

I figure we've paid our dues and it's our turn to turn over the right shovel of snow, dirt, leaves, grass, whatever. The medallion will be ours!!!

Fri, 01/04/2002 - 9:27 PM Permalink
tim_the_hunter

Yes Terry you have been out a lot. I will still find the medallion. For two reasons: I dig a lot, and I have a posse.

Hey now! I don't want to be seen as some henchman to Tim.

Anyone around to chat, i'm still stuck in Vegas, no money and broke a down car.

I was wondering if anyone wanted to talk about stuff like .....spots to hid the med?

  • Picnic tables(that has been done)
  • Grills
  • Firepits
  • Playground Equipment
  • Backstops
  • Hockey boards
  • Horseshoe pits
  • signs
  • water fountains
  • fences
  • statues
  • light posts
  • misc. buildings

    added---

  • around trees
  • bushes
  • rocks
  • walk ways
  • benches
  • baseball diamond (field)
  • look at all trash in the snow....

around trees bushes rocks walk ways benches

None of the above. Those are the first places dug out and around. It would assure a short hunt.

Open fields - out away from any particular "landmark" is the most likely spot...and just think how many shovels of snow that could be before someone gets lucky.

    Jokysu

Well that works for an answer. Can probably see the sparklies well at night. :)

Looks like I should have logged in at dinner time, lots of discussion. Looks a bit quieter here now.

    Nah, Joky. Can't seem'um. I yust feel'um!!!

Ittiz weird, how we get goining here... Sometimes mid-day, sometimes really, really late at nite.

If you're here late at nite, like the last to leave... You gotta remember "to leave a lite on" for those that follow after, or in the early AM.

And us coffee drinkers would shurly appreciate a STRONG, HOT pot o'coffee waitin' fur us when we open our bleary eyes and toddle over to the 'putter to check things out when we first get up...

And make shure the 'frig izz stock with ICE COLD COKE for the non-coffee drinkers...
