Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.
diggorius rex
maybe they'll hide it tonight whilst unsuspected green bay fans prepare in earnest
Ares, looks like I missed ya, but Cool Snoopy/CharlieBrown Pics. Good to have incase they ever use 'em in a clue! Can definately tell which days were sunny, which were not.
Its interesting to note which parts of the parks still have a little snow, that would be a good spot to put the med. Especially if he/she drops it during the forecasted rain to snow Sun/Mon. Its supposed to stay below freezing, and it would be in the hard crusty layer.
Well looks like another night of chats in the cooler with no clues yet.......I say hear hear.....chaps of compton hear me speak the lyrics of the Makaveli...hear me NOW!!!!!
You dears, I gots to toddle... I R old and have been staying up until, some nites, 4:30 AM with xcitement. I'm trying my best to cool my jets and get 'logical'.
Logic, and this time it penetrates! LOL!!! Tells me I should be sleeping...
I've hunting and helping to do... Trent and Jackie can bee tough taskmasters. Only once did I wuss out last year and toddle off to my car to sleep. I hope to better my track record this year with a Goose Egg for wussie-ness...
But it ain't gonna happen if I've used all my energy prior to then.
Hugs to the two o'you... I hate leaving you as I never get to talk to you...
Hope you unnerstand...
hugs,
green
P.S. I forgot the lite for those that come later? Would you guys handle that?
Lots of posts to walk through - and I love every word. Nice to see folks mostly being sociable and friendly with each other. No reason to get all bent out of shape about stuff. No reason for thread cops. We have 7 days yet before the first clue will come out.
Marley King - During the slogging, I understand you wanted to know about a time the medallion was moved...right? wrong?
There was also discussion about hunts without snow. To the best of my recollection, there has never been a hunt totally without snow...though there have been times at the beginning there was little or none but snowed later...and a few times where a January thaw in the middle melted just about everything by the end of the hunt.
Of course after hunting for as long as we have, the hunts tend to run one into the other in one's mind...and the file system between the ears tends to run together some.
My apologies to Ares then...but here's the true story.
The year it was at the Capital Mall, the earmuffs were picked up, walked across that public ground and then put back somewhere - close but probably not exactly where they had been originally placed.
Yup. My daughter did that....and hasn't hunted since. She said that if your mother made you put it back, it wasn't worth hunting for it in the first place.
Now that she's 23, I hope she'll someday carry on the family tradition of the hunt.
My son still hunts with us though when he can. He's been at grad school out of state for last year's and this year's hunt. He gets into it big time. Really enjoys the whole thing.
That's cool. I used to noodle clues with my grandma, but she's past over and no one else in my family could give a wit. I always ask their opinions though. KAL
Put some pics of the little rec centers in NE on the site today. The one's green likes- could be a good possibility. There's a lot to choose from, and it hasn't been over on that side of town in a while. And there is some snow left in spots.
I still noodle clues with my Mom. She is the one that got me hooked on this. I was out hunting with her some the very first hunt...just a couple months before I was born.
She can't get out anymore due to arthritis, but her mind is still sharp as tacks and often sees things that I miss.
There's another little park - north end - just off Rice St...like within a couple blocks west of Rice St. I can't think of the name of it right off, it's a small one, but I thought that might be a possibility too.
We'll see. It was such a mother kind of thing to do on my part.
Just take a look around here. Think of all the offices and people that work around here. Probably dropped those coming or going to work. I'm sure they'll be looking for them. You go put those back now and make that person happy that she found them tomorrow.
If they hadn't been such nice ones, I probably would have told her to keep them...and who knows if that medallion would have ever been found!
Maybe it's good she put them back then. Otherwise in mid-October you pull out those earmuffs to donate to charity, and find a little blue translucent puck in the earmuffs, causing you to have a heart attack right there on the spot.
I think of all the hunts, the Langford hunt surprised me the most. There were hardly any hunters ever out there. We had found it early on...mostly by studying maps and doing those drive-by scopings of parks. Most of the time I was sure but not sure it was there...and the only reason I wasn't sure was because of the lack of hunters.
Here's an interesting quote about the hider from a pioneer press clip on Feb 7,99
"One of the newspaper's earliest treasure hiders was the late Marsh Genshow, promotion director during the 60's. .... On another occasion, Genshowand a co-worker were just about to hide the treasure late one bitterly cold night..."
So theres a good possibility that more than one person knows where it is, which makes a good possibility that there are spotters (atleast two)

What's that, Rex?
rambling sorry... like most posts lately ;)
There are some o'us that try, Rex.
And some o'us that *try*... If you get my drift...
Ares, looks like I missed ya, but Cool Snoopy/CharlieBrown Pics. Good to have incase they ever use 'em in a clue! Can definately tell which days were sunny, which were not.

Marly? Kal??? Should I stay a titch longer?
I wonder if Duke from Doonesbury will be looking for the medallion? I noticed he's been in Minnesota lately.

"Please, please, PLEASE... Say you will! SAY YOU WILL!"
Geez. Guess I better snot quit my day yob....

Well looks like another night of chats in the cooler with no clues yet.......I say hear hear.....chaps of compton hear me speak the lyrics of the Makaveli...hear me NOW!!!!!
Another fact: it was also in two things when it was found in Newell. It was in a fabric pouch in a card box.
So much for my "Only being in two things at Como"theory
Snot if you'd heard ME singing it! LOL!!!

Well Jesus, What's the word
Good Morning!

I think it was Aries, but I was there too. What can you tell us O'Wize One.
There was also discussion about hunts without snow. O Wize One???? Please!!!! That's a riot!
Do you mean by your daughter? Or someone else?
Yup. My daughter did that....and hasn't hunted since. She said that if your mother made you put it back, it wasn't worth hunting for it in the first place.
Now that she's 23, I hope she'll someday carry on the family tradition of the hunt.

She will, its in her blood!
Marley,
Could you post that link to your site again here? I thought I had bookmarked that earlier and didn't.
Never mind. I just caught it in your tag line.
Blind besides having a messed up filing system.
That's cool. I used to noodle clues with my grandma, but she's past over and no one else in my family could give a wit. I always ask their opinions though. KAL

Very nice job you're doing with that website.
You might want to contact Greg Sax...find his email link at www.coolercrew.com...and he could put a link to your site from that one.
There's another little park - north end - just off Rice St...like within a couple blocks west of Rice St. I can't think of the name of it right off, it's a small one, but I thought that might be a possibility too.
Terry, I have a feeling the only tradition your daughter won't carry on will be that of putting items back without thoroughly searching them first.
Thanx Ter! I was having problems with the request page, but I think I fixed it.
I know what you mean about your mom seeing what we miss, that's what I miss most about my grandma-her insight. I never underestimate my elders.
We'll see. It was such a mother kind of thing to do on my part.

Are you talking about Lawson and Rice Rec Center?
No. It's smaller than a rec center. Just a tiny park. BRB...I'll see if I have any information in all my stuff.
Lewis Park or Sylvan Rec? Or Someone said there was a "Sue" park, but I don't remember where.
Joe.
Maybe it's good she put them back then. Otherwise in mid-October you pull out those earmuffs to donate to charity, and find a little blue translucent puck in the earmuffs, causing you to have a heart attack right there on the spot.
Lewis Park
TMK - Once they would have gotten lost in that room of hers, they maybe wouldn't be seen again till she went off to college!
Ahh, that's on the list for pictures tomorrow.
Cooler! It just seems like that neat kind of park...sort of like Langford was/is...that would be a one time only hiding place.
I think of all the hunts, the Langford hunt surprised me the most. There were hardly any hunters ever out there. We had found it early on...mostly by studying maps and doing those drive-by scopings of parks.
