Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.
Terry
It was between the picnic bench and a tree. My husband actually sat on the pile of snow it was buried under during the night before.
at least that is how I remember it! and I wish I could "feel that heat" when it is cold out--I did get my hand warmers from Menards! they are on sale this week by the way! I got Jake into hand warmers last year! he kept wanting mine!
Well, if I didn't get the chest back, I suppose I'd have to get a new one. Mostly though the only people who do the Mock Hunt are the hard core hunters and I know most of them more or less. Just seemed like it would be cool to start a tradition like that. Plus then I wouldn't have to buy a new one, hehe.
Of course it also gives an advantage to the people to turn it in because then they know exactly what they're looking for.
I am headed into the field of white to get to the green! I am headed to Linders Greenhouse. gotta go, but I will be back. nice to talk with you all again.
J.C. is in da house!!!! Yet another time in the cooler for another great night of chats. So I begin with the word of me, "If you think you have won, you actually have lost. If you think you have lost, well then you're a dumbass. If you're a dumbass you have no right to live. My point? If you think you're gonna find the medallion, you're a dumbass!"
yep, ter. allison explicitly suggested a woman. none came to mind though who met the criteria. 'course the only one who really comes to mind is laura billings.
Jesus Christ- If you are so sure you are going to find the medallion this year, why haven't you found it yet? It is obvious that it was hidden last night, so why aren't you out there finding it. For all the talking you have been doing, you AT LEAST need to find the medallion, and probably should find it before clue to live up to your own hype! Oh, why don't you get a real name?
It has to be a Pioneer Press employee that hides it. Otherwise Farm Out Medallion Hider Co. XYZ employees would not be eligible and you never see that.
I can't believe that with the amount of prize money and effort the PP puts into the hunt, that it wouldn't want to be protective (keep it in-house) for the hiding and clue writing.
The clues are NOT finished mid year. When you look at clues, it often refers to current happenings or conditions. You can't get that finished up mid year.
tim i agree completely, in retrospect at least. of course at the time it was a theory, and one has to wonder what the clue would have been had the vikes won that year.
I really believe that once you find the park, the rest is luck - probably not blind - but luck. To pick the exact area to dig in any large expanse of snow and be able to hit the jackpot is luck.
Even when the hunts get down to the last clues, there is still interpretation and though it's always been found, it's not as though there are hundreds of folks right on top of the prize.

So close....so far.

Well, I can ask Sarah if she will part with it. I like the idea of engraving the finders names.

ter, i got 3 of the notices. seems joanne was having problems sending them. lol.
allison, any particular writer in particular you had in mind. i know boxmeyer and coleman have come up before as potential suspects.
Ares - That's what I figured.
I believe that Allison thinks the hider is a woman.
Kay Harvey would come to mind if that were the case.
Though somehow I doubt it would be her. They use her talents for their special series and I know she spends bunches of time developing those stories.

Hi everyone! I just got my Snow Emergency e-mail notice! Normally I would be annoyed, but this time I couldn't be happier!

so is the general consensus that the hunter and clue-writer are one and the same or different people?
whoops. that's what i meant timmers.
Really, Tim?
Could you divulge your sources? Or where you've read this posted/on-line, and from whence you quote?
I'm from the "MomPress Farms It Out School."

it could be any of the other ineligible people as well, ter. but i doubt it.

(whispering...)
Ppppssstttt!!! Timmers.... [looking over both shoulders...]
Take it all with a gain o'Jagermeister, if you get my drift...
(skulking off)
Thass why I think it goes outta house, Ter. No employees know. And the law suit if Hiders XYZ, Inc., fu... screw up???
OH, LAWDY!!! Now THAT I'd want more stake in than $10,000 that's given for The Med.
YEWBETCHA!
And a JOE!!!!, thank-you-very-much!
The clues are finished mid year, there must be a submittal process?
G_B, I wan't to reschedule on Sunday.
The clues are NOT finished mid year. When you look at clues, it often refers to current happenings or conditions. You can't get that finished up mid year.
DAMNIT, Rex! I won the year before in the "Submit Your Noodling For Next Year's Clues" Contest, and now you've BLOWN IT!
I *told* you they were written by a woman... :D
Not all of them...
for instance, conway's "vikings depression" that led some of us early on to swede hollow.
The only clue writer I knew of was from WI..
Others said that it had nothing to do with the park because it was clue one, and it may have been changed at the last minute.
There's a viking depression every 2nd round of the playoffs..
tim i agree completely, in retrospect at least. of course at the time it was a theory, and one has to wonder what the clue would have been had the vikes won that year.
I was referring to Sloop...
you said it rex! well except for this year. lol.
I think we can all agree the last few years, the clues have been a lot less specific and more general, except the last few at the end...
We never made it anywhere *near* the end the past two years, Rex...
Thoughts? Comments? Ideas?
Blind luck on the part o'the Finders? Damn good, xceptional noodling? What?
I don't remember how long Chair-O-Key and "Woodrow Wilson" Conway went, but to *me* they seemed to go longer than the past two years.
We getting better? Clue Writer(s) getting worse? Or just dumb, stupid luck?
a buncha the same and some of all of it...
little bit of column a little from column b

joe
LOL at Tim and Rex!!!
What neat, all-most-the-same comments posted right together! I love it!!!
And very nice JOE!!!!, Timmers! :D
5 more wake ups until the pre dig gig.
TV- As long as it isn't a couple of people from North Oaks...
the first halfway specific como clue, location-wise, was clue 6, with the riding around.
at newell it was clue 7, the fairview and wheeler clue. (which incidentally was also the hunt with the vikes depression clue not conway).
again at conway the specific clue was 7, wood-row.
chair-o-key it was clue 5 with the streets with names of cities.
I am proud to say that the last two years I nailed the park with the first mention of the park, and was out digging.
(whispering...)
Pppppsssstttt, Timmers! It was NEVER mentioned which park it was in... You NOODLED that!
Bow, Tim! Bow!
Wow TTH and Como is so huge...
