2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Should we move the initiation rites to the devil's den?:)

Why do I get all that pressure?

Tue, 01/15/2002 - 8:51 PM Permalink
Scribe

Okay then, here's what I'm thinking,I think the med is not hidden yet and the PP conspiritor's are still forming their evil plan.

Tue, 01/15/2002 - 8:52 PM Permalink
Usual Suspect

I think i may agree scribe.

Perhaps there is a team of them and one of them reads this board and whatever we suggest or contimplate before the first clue they take into consideration of not hiding it there...

And

I think there are basic "rough" clues to every park on file that can be edited and updated for any situation and current year.

Tue, 01/15/2002 - 8:58 PM Permalink
ares

with that, i'd agree scribe.

and why do you get all the pressure? check out the quantity of messages when you're online compared to when you're not :)

Still lurking, and already getting some good tips. Take notes too!

Good point Ares! There is a lot more discussion when I'm not here........especially about..the weather.:)

Maureen,you taking notes on a post-it?:)

I think we might be pushing it, with the whole watching the board thing but i guess anythings possible.

Good Evening!

Been a busy night here. I am trying to keep medallion fever under control enough to get other things done here so when the fever hits the highest pitch, at least there will be enough clothes washed and the house won't have dust inches thick.

Scribe - if I remember correctly, you smoke those brown things...are those More?

The conspiracy theories around here are getting funnier all the time.

suspect, mom press runs the board. i wouldn't be at all surprised to see them reading it (who knows, one or more of the staff may even post without us knowing). you gotta admit, there is a lot of entertainment value coming from in here.

Tue, 01/15/2002 - 9:09 PM Permalink

you are not kidding Ares about the entertainment! WoW--you all are talking a lot tonight, hard to catch up! Goodevening all!

I would think that after all the um....unrest...yeah...that would be a good word for what was happening on some of the other boards...that anything without the bickering, name-calling and hatefulness on some of those boards would be a relief.

I don't think they would read every post, however.

I would love to join in some more-but I have to tuck in the kids. I will try to be back tonight but definately tomarrow morning. I can't wait to read more-we are all like a good book! I need to print all this and read it by a roaring fireplace and my Baileys/coffee!

There's tons of lurkers in the PP.

People that watch, but never post.

I think Maureen is taking notes on her "I found the Winter Carnival Medallion and all I got was this t-shirt and $5,000" t-shirt. And people from the PP may read the posts, if in retrospect. While we try to get into the mind of the clue writer, perhaps the clue writer can get into our minds? He or she can look at what we post and figure out how better to stump us. He or she can also get more ideas of places to hide the medallion, how to hide it, etc.

Tue, 01/15/2002 - 9:26 PM Permalink
Terry

I am always surprised that they find so many different white things to hide it in.

He or she can look at what we post and figure out how better to stump us.

makes for all the more interesting of a hunt, imho!

Tue, 01/15/2002 - 9:28 PM Permalink
Terry

I think collectively, it's hard to totally stump us, but the proof is still in the digging.

Tue, 01/15/2002 - 9:29 PM Permalink
Terry

On the other hand, collectively we throw more stuff around as we noodle these clues that if we didn't weed out stuff on our own, we'd never find the right park!

Good evening!

Did some driving around town tonight (well, it wasn't *exactly* scoping...). It's too early to be cruising, but I find I can't help it. If it's only a few blocks out of the way to view a park again, and remember the details, what the heck. Of course, usually once you've gotten through THAT park and you're on the other side of it, you're that much closer to another one to drive past.

Every year there are things about that year's hunt that are new and different from previous hunts. There are pictures in my mind and some are definate pictures from very particular hunts. Others are just mumbled up in there and could be from 30 years ago or last year.

wahoo. should get some more snow tomorrow and then....more on sunday! so sayeth channel 9.

Hi Mom! I've already scoped out Como - easy to do when we go through there all the time. I've scoped out Newell and the Capital Mall. The rest will wait until I get a hunch I think.

did they say how much ares?

Tue, 01/15/2002 - 9:38 PM Permalink

no more than an inch in each occurrence, but still its more snow!

evenin' mom.

I saw a *new* one tonight. I'm sure it's been there forever or close to but it was new to me. Think it's just a rec center. Didn't have time at that moment to drive around it and get the name even. It was on Front between Western and Dale.

Tue, 01/15/2002 - 9:41 PM Permalink
Terry

That's 2 more inches. Before we know it, there'll be feet of the stuff to dig through.

We should be careful what we wish for. Collectively, we could snow ourselves into the first year the thing hasn't been found!

Tue, 01/15/2002 - 9:41 PM Permalink
Terry

Mom, That's been there. It's a rec center but I can't remember the name of it. Tucked away pretty good in there, isn't it?

Who's willing to wager on "patriotic" clues this year?...

Tue, 01/15/2002 - 9:45 PM Permalink
diggorius rex

Some flag stuff, heroes, etc?...

Tue, 01/15/2002 - 9:45 PM Permalink
Terry

I wouldn't doubt we could see something of a patriotic nature...or a sloopy or Charlie Brown clue too. One never knows what's in the mind of the writer.

I would bet at least one of the clues will have somthing it it.

If there's anything about California Naval Oranges or your pink polka-dots LL, we'll know they've been slogging through this board.

Everyone have their "web browser" options rigged for their cel phone? I do, um, I think... I have it setup for emails and offline content for the water cooler, etc.

Tue, 01/15/2002 - 9:49 PM Permalink
Liquor Lady

sorry dig, no cell phone. I just can't stand the thought of people being able to find me 24/7.

Tue, 01/15/2002 - 9:50 PM Permalink

Unfortunately, I don't have a new fangled enough phone for such stuff. I'll have to rely on the old fashioned relay call.
