Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.
There must be a few because my Dasays he's seen people out digging. One that comes to mind is Kellogg park, the one that has been recently redone. It's mostly a walk way along the river.
LLady and SMommy, the Pre-Dig Gig and Re-Hash Bash are BLASTS! None o'the rotten ones show up, unless we've not figured out that they do... LOL!!! Everybody's nice and the tall tales fly. By the end o'the nite, after the "I-Was-Closer!" stories, you'd think all o'us had sat/stepped on The Med every single year since The Hunt began!
When the First Clue comes out, we read it... Then get grumpy... Cause all we learn is not on public property, don't destroy, park, somewhere in Ramsey County, and then we have to wait 24 MORE HOURS for the next clue. WWWWAAAAAAAAAA@@@@
the wabasha-harriet island corridor is a nice set of redone locations. there's the new hillcrest knoll over on the east side, i don't know how long ago it was but the lower end of battle creek's been redone (hmm that's right across from a railroad yard). i can't think of anything else off hand that qualifies. rice park will be done here in the near future.
My Dad is really good at figuring the clues out and has worked on the St. Paul tracks for the past 30 years so I always call him when I'm stumped. He said Harriet Island park has had a lot of reconstruction but he doesn't know if it's complete.
I'm having to make calls and handle getting releases. Mundane follow-up for the film. And there maybe a lot of folks come this year that have never heard o'The Cooler Crew, don't come in here, and some don't even have computers!
I explain the 'Crew get-to-gethers as just social meetings for those that enjoy hunting the Med. A party. Spouses, childern, SOs, the neighbors - anybuddy's welcome.
It's a way to get rid o'some of the xcess energy and xcitement that's been building for the last week, two weeks, month, three months...
You don't have to register/RSVP, we don't take names/make lists. If you don't tell anybuddy who you are, no one has a way of knowing if you were really there are not.
But you may get a strange look when someone says, "Hi! I'm green/Scribe/Terry/Jake/Mom/Whomever! Who are you?" and you don't answer... LOL!!!
And, too, it's held in a public place - McGovern's.
If you don't make it this year... You will some year. Trust me. Sometimes it takes awhile to get the gumption up to rush head long into a total o'total strangers. But after you've been here awhile, you'll not have the trepidation and you'll join in.
And you'll be very glad you did, and sorry you waited. You'll have to look a long, long time to find nicer folks than The Cooler Crew.
Well, after reading through a few hundred posts from yesterday, I'd have to say there were some strange discussions here.
Like to remind all about the button and registering it. Deadline is this Sunday (20th) to have your buttons postmarked on Sunday. It's worth an extra $5,000 to have it registered.
Sadness again is I won't be there on Saturday. Am here on the board but never been at the gigs. My husband is into the digging but not much on the board.
It must be something about the time of year. On an e-mail list I belong to somebody just exploded the other day about off-topic posts. Seasonal Affective Disorder?
somehow, rush i don't think we'll have to worry about upsetting anyone. at least not for a while anyway.
i'm just curious. and i know snow mommy's already cast one vote for this, but who all is labelled as being crazy for being hunt-addicted? i make up the second vote for this.
Not all the posts with meanings are there, but most are. They've done a terrific job and setting up the site and all the info. there is very helpful during the hunt.
When I was about 18, I received a birthday gift from my girlfriends. With every clue dating back to 1952. They all went to the library, and dug it up for me. It is hard to read alot of them, copy machine made some pages to dark. I will always treasure it.
Yeah, I didn't even know what I was looking for.
Something to keep in mind.
Rushmore, you had great parents like that and now you shame them by living in..... Burnsville??:)
Snow,what can you tell them?
Your more special than they are and they will never understand!:)
Does anyone hae an opinion of what the cities biggest project is right now? Around parks and stuff?
Scribe, I must let it be known. We have lived in Burnsville for the last 18.5 years. Unfortunately, I still live with them. Why you may ask? College.
Snow,That is interesting to know.....how many parks have railroad tracks in the near vicinity? I can think of three or four off-hand.
Rushmore,
I remember chair-o-key, when steve and i were about 8 or so. we were sitting on a big rock with a green x on it. It was found their late in the day.
Rushmore, I didn't realize you were that young! Get your parents on here and I'll have a talk with them about this 'burb they chose!LOL!
THX,You want me to make you hot chocolate after digging?
Satanic joe

Kellogg! OOOOOO Downtown Dave will have his year!!
better that he shame them by continuing to live with them in burnsville, scribe, than to shame them by moving to, say, minneapolis.
I'm 23 in case you're wondering
That's great Maureen, I guess X does mark the spot.
Opps...My Dad says. My 2 year is helping me type so please excuse the type-o's.!
Ares, Thats a tough call......I spose since he grew up in Burnsville and chooses to stay there with them while in college, it is not his fault.
BUT:
Rushmore, you must break this family curse of yours someday!!
1974 just looked it up, "St. Pat's color" is the green paint on the rock.
Marning, 'Heads!

I have a ton of housework to get done, since I won't be doing any next week I should get caught up now. I'll talk to you guys later. Have a great day!
Later Snowmommy,
I'm moving here pretty soon, I do like the St. Paul community and it's warmth. One never knows though.
No, Scribe, you did fine.
I'm having to make calls and handle getting releases. Mundane follow-up for the film. And there maybe a lot of folks come this year that have never heard o'The Cooler Crew, don't come in here, and some don't even have computers!

you will be welcomed here, rush. lol.
Well Hello Everyone!!! Is everyone getting excited for the Hunt to begin? I know that I am!
Is everyone getting excited for the Hunt to begin?
What hunt?
Ares, thanks - LOL.
I better get back to discussing the hunt though, don't want to upset anyone. HeHe!!
I second Ares sigh of relief!
Hey Mr.Swift!:)

OH! Even frogs are allowed to come...
My [now] constant Hunting Companion, Como, will be with me. He goes everywhere Hunt related... Schleps along in my backpack...
Hey Mr. Scribe haven't heard from you in awhile. How is it going?
It must be something about the time of year. On an e-mail list I belong to somebody just exploded the other day about off-topic posts. Seasonal Affective Disorder?
Can anyone help me find a list of pervious years clues and there meanings.
somehow, rush i don't think we'll have to worry about upsetting anyone. at least not for a while anyway.
i'm just curious. and i know snow mommy's already cast one vote for this, but who all is labelled as being crazy for being hunt-addicted? i make up the second vote for this.

PD, go to the coolercrew.com
Not all the posts with meanings are there, but most are. They've done a terrific job and setting up the site and all the info. there is very helpful during the hunt.
Goin well Mr.Swift!
Really gotta get some computer unrelated work done though! It took me almost as long to slog through my e-mail as it did on this board!!
I hate Olympic years!
Ares,I believe I have been doomed to that catergory......and not just for the hunt!
So much to do before Friday...
Lose about 20lbs, get my hair cut (there's 20 lbs!), find hunting clothes, batteries, new Sorel liners...
HAY! You guys, did ALL the United Stores go under? Anybuddy know?
And if the answer's yes, anybuddy know a cheap place for hunting stuffs, like NOT Gander Mountain and those kind'a places????
Glad to hear green, looks like i'll put that trepedation aside as you said and make it there Saturday, looking forward to it
Phillip,
When I was about 18, I received a birthday gift from my girlfriends. With every clue dating back to 1952. They all went to the library, and dug it up for me. It is hard to read alot of them, copy machine made some pages to dark. I will always treasure it.
think so, green. dunno of a replacement.
As I've said for years, 2K2, we're certifiable. Yup.
But we're harmless. :D
Will be nice to see you! Many 'Heads recommend the open-faced turkey sammywhich.
Green, Yup,no more United Stores and I gotta say that their "goin outta business" sale sucked!! But I will miss them this time of year!
Try the thrift stores and there is an army surplus store on Snelling and Minnehaha that may have a few fun necessary items and all in your color!LOL!
I've had that sandwich there many times, best thing on the menu
Wow, Maureen. That's really neat! How sweet of them!
You gots really good friends Maureen!
Scribe, I admit. I live in Minneapolis, albeit close to Highland area in St. Paul
