2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Yup. Anything white seems to be used. Makes me wonder every year what white thing it'll be placed in.

Yeah, trails go underneath the bridge.

someone should "noodle" a list of everything white!

I think that's the marina that was in so much financial trouble last Spring. Don't know if it's still up and running or not.

It's really quite pretty down in that park. I remember strolling along the river, almost forgetting to dig just mesmerized by the movement of the water.

Is that the Watergate Marina?

I always seem to get mythical spelled by water.

I have none of my maps, books and stuff here. I feel like I'm in the dark and still clueless.

I have been bouncing back between last years cooler and this one trying to refresh my memory on things and not much has changed.

Terry? How could you leave the house without your clue/puck/park hunting gear?

Ian - There's wooded areas away from the river...but not through most of the park.

I haven't switched from QWEST and tomorrow is the 'forced' switch day.

    cellphone or home phone switch?

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:24 PM Permalink
    'mom'

Relax Ian - I HAVE switched from Qwest and they still send me their mail. They're extending the transition. you were talking about internet access, right?

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:24 PM Permalink
    King Boreas aka Ian

    internet access

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:24 PM Permalink
    Terry

Ian - that park is rather long and narrow...more like Cherokee sort of...except it's down at water level instead of up on the bluff. Most is open. There's one big shelter on the north side of the park.

I really don't wanna change e-mail...I had everything going there because I assumed they'd never change.

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:26 PM Permalink
    Terry

I am still getting my qwest mail too...and they haven't charged us for internet access for three months now!

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:26 PM Permalink
    King Boreas aka Ian

Terry, I haven't paid for two years.

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:27 PM Permalink

from the link in the email....

Qwest.net and MSN have decided to give customers more time to voluntarily migrate to MSN. The start of the automatic migration process has been moved back, this process will now start during the month of March 2002.

I *was* very happy with Qwest. But I have no desire to be an MSN customer, especially by force. We did the cable modem thing and I have no regrets.

I like the broadband. We got email today about how everyone's email with them is going to change...but they are going to have the ability to get your mail on the web and 6 mail boxes...and I think 6 different websites.

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:27 PM Permalink
    King Boreas aka Ian

We started out with 6 months free because Micki works there, and they never started billing us.

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:28 PM Permalink
    'mom'

TWO YEARS??!!! No wonder they kept trying to get me to pay weeks after I'd canceled!

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:28 PM Permalink
    'mom'

And it's not your *whole* email that's changing with the broadband, just the @whatever.net

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:29 PM Permalink
    Terry

We never cancelled it....they just quit charging us. The same thing happened to my Mom, and she realized when she went to cancel it and they didn't have her listed as having internet service, that she hadn't been charged for 10 months.

I think Qwest has some problems.

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:30 PM Permalink

    MOM:

Do you still have AOL, or just AIM?

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:30 PM Permalink
    me2

I have AOL. looking into options in about 3 months. One of my friends today told me their email was changing because of some company merge and when they told me something like...@attbi.com...the first thing I said was I would always look at the "bi" thing everytime I got an email from them:)

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:31 PM Permalink
    Terry

Me2 - that's it. I couldn't remember what the new @ was supposed to change to. I think it's sometime after the first of February.

Just give me fast internet service...it's da bomb!

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:32 PM Permalink
    'mom'

Who, me? I still pay the $9.95 to access AOL. Don't know why anymore....just haven't gotten around to getting rid of it.

I was just reading the hunt rules online. On there it says the clues are to be clipped from the paper. I don't have my button cards here....what do they say?

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:36 PM Permalink
    King Boreas aka Ian

    copy or handwritten

    "no purchase necessary"

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:37 PM Permalink
    Downtown Dave

Terry--last year, if I am not mistaken, they allowed web site printings as well. Oh, well, I am paying for the paper every day. (During the hunt, 2 papers a day--one at 11:00 pm, and the other they deliver)!

Looks like the prize money is down too. Guess I hadn't paid much attention to all that.

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:38 PM Permalink
    Downtown Dave

Of course, I would do this all for 10 bucks. Just knowing it is out there, somewhere...

    Fri, 01/18/2002 - 10:39 PM Permalink

What? really? I have it all spent already. What are they giving this year? I DITTO that DD but still--I planned on finding it this year. lol
